Climate issues

It's April and weather already too hot. Do you think that the ongoing wars in our region worsens the already warm climate in the balkans region?
OkCheesecake5894@reddit
I think it's too cold.
I am also calling bs on your map and want the source and legend for it
speedygrandpa@reddit
This heatmap if we exclude Turkey looks like poverty map, not a heat map 😅
Skarsburning@reddit
I'm Bulgaria we are in a very cold dip, was 9' yesterday
Significant-Ad-7182@reddit
Yesterday felt like summer today it feels like winter tomorrow probably summer again.
Many-Relationship149@reddit
And yep, it's winter here alright
Prod_Meteor@reddit (OP)
Today winter again.
latespresso@reddit
It’s called spring. I’d say it’s pretty standard. What was pretty outstanding was how late 20°C recorded in Istanbul. It was only yesterday that Istanbul hit 20 degrees this spring.
Prod_Meteor@reddit (OP)
We are going to burn man.
Rumbling_Butterfly1@reddit
Summer's going to be so much fun🫠
Prod_Meteor@reddit (OP)
So much sun you said?
ilovemangos3@reddit
weird, same situation in west usa
ACM96@reddit
Same weather pattern in Eastern US as well; 90F yesterday, woke up 28F this morning (32F = 0C)
alkorisno@reddit
And we are still fighting oil wars to further destroy our climate
Significant-Ad-7182@reddit
Oil Wars are just the prequal to the Water Wars we will have later.
iSebastian1@reddit
Yep, same in Romania, shorts and t-shirt yesterday, this morning my hands were freezing while wearing a jacket lol.
Dull_Cucumber_3908@reddit
What do the wars have to do with any of these?
On side note, do you understand that you worsen the already warm by using the internet?
Prod_Meteor@reddit (OP)
Bombs, explosions, fires, fuel burning are just ... fine 👌
Beneficial_Ad_5157@reddit
I have no idea what you are talking about this has been the coldest April in the last couple of years
Prod_Meteor@reddit (OP)
If you have cold up there, then it's certainly fucked up.
SE_prof@reddit
Authorities in Greece reported 58 forest fires last weekend. They say that this is the earliest ever for this kind of phenomenon and they are concerned about their preparedness. 20 years ago fire season was in June-July...
Third_Rate_Duelist_@reddit
Yeah, every year it keeps getting hotter and hotter. It's awful. But the wars aren't a main reason according to my opinion.
Over-Percentage-1929@reddit
Your memory resets every two years or so right?
Third_Rate_Duelist_@reddit
Obviously not, please say what you think directly
kingofsteelington@reddit
A citical atlantic current is also most likely to collapse at around 2050 making summers in the balkans insanely hot and the winters isnanely cold. Its stil going to be better than northern europe, where winter will be north siberia levels of cold.
PaintSad8795@reddit
Are you a fortune teller? How can you be so sure? Stop believing mainstream media, start reading.
SansBouillie@reddit
It was foretold
Significant-Ad-7182@reddit
So the choice is either freeze to death up north or be cooked to death down south?
I probably would prefer the cold. It's already too hot to go outside during summer in many places I can't imagine it getting even hotter and trying to breathe.
MidnightChimp@reddit
Yes, too cold is easier to deal with than too hot.
Thick_Knowledge5566@reddit
Yes and No, I live in Canada and the winter is awful. It lasts 8 Months.
MidnightChimp@reddit
A winter full of 12 months would be a dream for me.
Thick_Knowledge5566@reddit
Bro, it gets down to -35 degrees for weeks at a time. It looks fun from the outside, but when you live in it, it gets depressing really quickly. Snow that never melts but turns brown from the dirt, and extremely cold wind that makes you freeze if you stay outside for only a couple of minutes. Have to wear a lot of layers. No outdoor activities, if you want to go for a walk, you have to go to a mall to walk inside.
Significant-Ad-7182@reddit
You can still wear a ton of clothing to stay warm. You can go full naked and it would do jack shit during summer here. I had to get my towel wet and sleep on it during last summer.
Thick_Knowledge5566@reddit
I completly understand you. I will be in Albania for the next two months and I know i am going to strugle with the heat but still you can do way more activities in the summer. Go hiking in mountains, swimming, hang outside, you cannot do any of these in the cold
D0ckter@reddit
Can you provide some sources for the expected insane impact on the Balkans? I’ve looked into this and actually the most advanced predictions I’ve seen show a reasonably low impact on the Balkans compared to the impact on northern and Western Europe. I.e. this paper, maps in the supplement.

PaintSad8795@reddit
Wars affecting the climate? Hahaha you gotta be either illiterate or kidding. Do you have any idea how big the earth is?
ctorex@reddit
5°C in the night...
Prod_Meteor@reddit (OP)
In can drop or raise in just 2 hours. Specially when the hot sun hits you directly, it's +10°. You need special clothes to handle all that.
Hidrogen_Cosic@reddit
22 yesterday, 14 today, Typical alril weather.
casual_philosopher02@reddit
it is definetely not too hot for the season, I only started wearing t-shirts 5 days ago and it is almost May (still need a jacket with me).... Other years I was already in shorts by now, we had a very rainy winter and spring so it was about time it reaches 20 degrees
narisha_dogho@reddit
It will rain in Athens tomorrow and temperature will reach 15°. Let's find the OP together...
casual_philosopher02@reddit
same in my city, OP we will find you
alkorisno@reddit
Wars worsen lives always, climate or not. Only through international unitification of the working class against their capitalist masters will we be safe.
SnoopCheesus@reddit
The weather is not too hot lmao. It's erratic, but it's not too hot.
ComfortableParty2933@reddit
Hot? Currently 8 C degrees in Varna, Bulgaria. It is lower on average in April.
Additional-Gur7915@reddit
I'm wondering whether they're a troll. It's 6 degrees C in Kosove.
Bright_Curve3078@reddit
-2C next night in Oulu, Finland.
pythonski@reddit
Yeah, I’m close to Sofia and the heating has been on since October
MagmaSlte@reddit
The temperatures in Sofia arent that crazy, its been like 9-20 since the middle of march till now which is pretty normal for this time of year
pythonski@reddit
Right.. just not too hot yet
ProductGuy48@reddit
We had a mini hail storm in Transylvania yesterday, don’t know what you are talking about.
NightZT@reddit
Do you have that kind of weather regularly in Transylvania at that time of the year? We had the same thing yesterday in Austria and it's very uncommon. Normally those happen in summer
ProductGuy48@reddit
Not really, I mean April is generally pretty rainy but you rarely get hail. That’s more common in the summer when you have a sudden temperature drop after a really hot week.
mRnjauu@reddit
BS. I am still moving with jacket. I remember like 10 years ago or even more, it was 31c on May 1.st. Now it barely reaches 21c.
Burtocu@reddit
Romania is cooked...
gk98s@reddit
Why would wars affect the climate? The amount of energy being released from the bombs in total is orders of magnitude lower than what you'd need to cause climate change.
gu_admin@reddit
Last summer in Bosnia in north at direct sunlight exposure i was measuring 50, some spots are even hotter from what weather report says. Recently three weeks ago or so nearby there was a meter of snow while 15 kilometers away there was none. Weather is f... by us. We will admit it when we start dying in hundreds or thousands. This upcoming summer will be hotter, look up Mr weatherman in youtube, something is going on with "El Nino" or so.
Istar10n@reddit
It's actually pretty cool, I haven't turned my AC on yet. Also, how would war influence this?
ianishomer@reddit
South East Bulgaria horrible weather at the moment, raining all day today and cold.
toastwithoutagun@reddit
Serbia can be considered a subtropic country by now.
_nzatar@reddit
If anything the crisis in the middle east should help the climate
eferalgan@reddit
We have a polar mass of air currently over Romania, temperatures during the night could go be low as -7 degrees
shqiptarski1444@reddit
Greekistan indeed has climate and flora akin to the Middle East ☀️💃🏻🌴
thatMrGecko@reddit
bait
shqiptarski1444@reddit
It’s true though. Greece has the most out of place climate and vegetation in all of Balkans
nobody1568@reddit
If by out of place you.mean the most diverse flora and climate, yes, it's true, it has that.
shqiptarski1444@reddit
I mean the extremes of Grease are definitely out of place (Athens, Palm tree forest in Crete, Lemnos desert, etc.)
nobody1568@reddit
* Greece
Yes, yes, that's what it means to be diverse, having many different climate zones and flora spices. Of course, it's totally in place when you think of Greece's borders.
shqiptarski1444@reddit
True, a lot of Greek islands are nearly a swim away from Turkey/Anatolia
nobody1568@reddit
Yes, that's how borders work.
More_Ad_5142@reddit
He is baiting
nobody1568@reddit
I know!
Toliveandieinla@reddit
What do you mean?
zpetar@reddit
It's not out of place. Greece is Mediterranean county.
inki471@reddit
Wrong sub
King_Alf@reddit
Ahhh yes the good old (new), Budapest 42° Summers.
latespresso@reddit
For sure climate change effects Balkans but it’s not due to current crisis in Ukraine nor Middle East.
sorokii@reddit
It sure does not help
