A realization I just had after being a Xenite for years; Season 5 is the only season of XWP where Xena isn't haunted by a murder or a crime she's committed in her past

Each season had an episode or two that focused on a crime that Xena did when she was Evil in the past but season five doesn't have one.
I don't think Evil Xena comes out at all in season five unless you count Demon Xena in Fallen Angel.

This is something I have always noticed. And something that for me elevates that season cause it gets old (for me) to constantly rehash her evil past. We are already aware of it, let’s move on. I do not need more backstory.
And this is a huge reason I am not the biggest fan of season six cause they deal with her past too much. As much as I like the trilogy in the Norselands, I also hated the finale Japan episodes. Not only is it frustrating that Xena got killed off, it was a death to pay from her past that we are not familiar with until the finale itself. I would have preferred her death in a familiar location like Greece, Rome, Chin, etc. so obnoxious. AFIN was just the worst.

Yeah, the writers they brought over from Hercules the Legendary Journeys to run the show, while Lord of the Rings was in production in NZ and needed all the talent. So that's why Xena in Season 5 sort of feels like it's not following the Xena formula.
Fun fact: The writers they brought over are parodied by Hercules 4x15 and 5x09. Those eps are a hilarious parody worth watching. They're about how Rob and the writers get an episode of Herc or Xena made behind the scenes. The writers they parodied in the episode are Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci; Bob passed recently (rip); Alex is currently helming Starfleet Academy.

Xena is haunted by the death of Solan and her many attempted murders of Hope!
But, the scariest villain of all was the scripts! 😧
We get more The Debt / Chin guilt in season 5, caused at least in part by Xena’s prior murder of Ming Tien, which itself could have been an result of her many sins against him as a young boy, even though they really shouldn’t have!

To be fair, season 4 was kind of overloaded with Xena's dark past. We had her flashbacks in the Sin Trade two parter, and Past Imperfect. There were very brief flashbacks in Daughter of Pomira, and Locked Up and tied Down, which was an entire episode of Xena doing jail time for a crime she committed. And there were quite a few Roman eps, which always remind us of her complicated history with Caesar.
