Alanna was my hero!

Anyone else devour these books? I read Goosebumps and Animorphs, which I loved and owned all of, but Alanna was the first book series I read multiple times.

As someone who was really introverted and meek in middle school, reading these books felt so inspiring. I loved escaping into Alanna's world. I always kind of wish she ended up with Jonathan, though. I need to re-read them to see if I've changed my mind. It's been 33 years. 😬

In Tamora Pierce’s original version (which was made for adults) Alanna does end up with Jonathan!

Yes! I need to reread and see how I feel about Jonathan now.

I don't recall ever seeing these, which is weird because it seems right up my alley. Will they hold the attention of an adult reader?

Worth a shot, I'd say. Not a complex read, but some nice swords/sorcery adventuring, if I recall correctly.

I don’t know. It’s been many years since I read them, but I am planning a reread since finding my copies again.

If I had known these existed they would have been my everything.

Yes!! Me too! Just bought copies for my girls so they don’t use my originals.
I have followed the author, Tamora Pierce, for years. She’s not in a good place right now (details were leaked but she wanted to keep them private so I’m not going into details). She has a Patreon account if you’re able & interested in supporting her for what will probably be her last few years.

Thank you for telling me. I will definitely got support her Patreon.

These were some of my absolute favorites! I read them until the covers started to fall off. I also read the books about Dane, and at the time I thought it was quite romantic that her hot teacher in his late 20s fell in love with her. When she was 14. There were also other books about another girl knight and I think ones about Alanna's daughter, but I only read those once.

I just borrowed these from the library 😍

Yessssssss. The best! I loved these books so so much in middle school. My best friend and I would fangirl over George so hard, lol

LOVED these books. The ones I read (from my local library) had different covers.
I remember having to hide ‘In the Hand of the Goddess’ from my mom since it would’ve been sacrilegious.
Also couldn’t tell her entirely what they were about since anything to do with magic was ‘of the devil’
The Chronicles of Narnia were okay though since it was Aslan was a Christ stand-in.
