It's so hard to say, they're both beautiful in slightly different ways.

"One Against an Army" comes right after the rift and solidifies that our girls will always come back to one another. I am obsessed with the contrast established between Gabrielle's "we're all gonna die eventually" and Xena's refusal to let her go. Honestly, like everyone else so far, I'd probably have to side with this one.

Meanwhile, "Ides of March" finds Gabrielle breaking her vow of pacifism to protect the woman she loves. In this instance, they're embracing death together, and it's on their terms. It also reveals that Gabrielle always longed to be seen by someone, and the person to do that for her was Xena. Oh! And she kisses her on the forehead. I've seen a little bit of the script, and their initial monologues to each other were even more romantic than what we got. Yet, sometimes less is more.
