AME App Deletion after import

Today I went to get my 1st class medical without realizing it has not been 90 days since my last exam. I got a 2nd class in late January and learned I needed a 1st class medical later. My AME imported the exam and of course was unable to issue the 1st class due to the 90 day rule(like why does this rule exist?) No harm no foul I’ll just submit an application and get seen again in a few days. Get home tonight and he did not delete the application. It is still imported which means I cannot start a new application. And of course he has left town for the next month. I need my 1st class by the end of next week. My question is, can one of his nurses go in and delete the app or can this ONLY be done by the AME? I have already talked to the helpdesk for the FAA and they did not know the answer, but they did confirm it can be deleted. I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this. He is very old and his nurses do everything anyways. Hoping it is not an issue tomorrow. TLDR; Can a nurse delete a medical application for an AME?

It’s called an “administrative hold” and prevents an applicant from getting deferred at one AME office and walking down the street and trying to get it at a different office the next day or whatever. In your case, what the AME should have done was call AMCD and explain you were upgrading to a Class 1, the hold would have been released (after review) and the FAA would send you your Class 1 certificate in the mail, usually they will email / fax a copy as well if you need it expedited. You can’t “delete” an application, once he downloads it from the cloud and does the exam, the AME will need to transmit as a deferral after calling AMCD and then they will help you get your Medical issued.
