Imagine if we would consider any of this "The most important meal of the day;" in 2026?

Imagine if we would consider any of this "The most important meal of the day;" in 2026?
In_My_Peace_N_Truth@reddit
Strudel 100%.
Pop Tarts went downhill late 80s to early 90s.
GirlScoutSniper@reddit
Strudel? Zum toasten? Hell, yeah. That over a dry Pop Tart.
Darury@reddit
Don't ask me why, but I somehow read that as Lobster Strudel at first and wondering what fresh hell that came from.
Due-Complaint-5719@reddit
Neither: carnation breakfast bars
ToddPundley@reddit
I remember having their instant breakfast shake powders. They were pretty dire.
thelaineybelle@reddit
Or... Kudos!
OG Toaster Strudels should be the clear winner, but modern Pop Tarts met enshittification and I might go OG Pop Tarts now 🤷‍♀️
weedtrek@reddit
The Toaster Strudel is far superior, but the Pop Tart being shelf stable and not needing to be toasted gives it some advantages over Toaster Strudels.
kcracker1987@reddit
This °. So much this.
My immediate thought was...
If it's getting heated, Toaster Strudel ALL DAY!
If I'm eating it right out of the foil, the Pop Tarts for the win.
ToddPundley@reddit
Or the secret shameful option - just warm up the Toaster Strudel splooge icing packet in the microwave and have it commando.
Traditional_Fan_2655@reddit
And not making mom cranky about less freezer room.
WingZombie@reddit
Rich people stuff. You weren’t finding any of that in our home.
jrob321@reddit
Brown Sugar Cinnamon toasted until the frosting is burnt and caramelized in some spots.
jockfist5000@reddit
Still have callouses in my mouth from that delicious molten lava.
PracticalConcept260@reddit (OP)
Never mind a pepperoni Tombstone straight outta the restaurant/bar gawd awful pizza oven. Still probably have ptsd. Like time used to stand still. Grease/thermal coefficient.
thatstwatshesays@reddit
Reminds me of the dreaded pizza roll mix. Let’s play a game: Is it still frozen? Or is it molten?
Setsuna00XN@reddit
It's both. Always both. And in the e same roll.
LaVida2@reddit
Toaster strudel - toasted twice
rink_raptor@reddit
Pop tarts. Strawberry with frosting. Cold. Seemed to be the snack of choice for us wrestlers.
eastbayted@reddit
Brought to you by Flintstones vitamins.
10 million strong a growing!
Away_Ad_5390@reddit
Last time I had a pop tart, they added the filling with a paintbrush!
Blue_Henri@reddit
Toaster strudel was the shit when it came out! My mom would never let us eat junk food for breakfast and we snuck this past her for a few weeks. Fun was up when she found the icing packet.
Melodic_Caramel1777@reddit
I don’t eat either anymore, but back in the day toaster strudel was by far the better choice.
LayerNo3634@reddit
Toaster Strudel is good, but PopTarts can be eaten anytime, anywhere. You don't take the 1st on a camping or road trip.
Comedian70@reddit
Quitter
Popular_Race9750@reddit
20 years ago, it was pop tarts, but they went to shit. Toaster Strudels are king.
Alewort@reddit
Toaster Strudel and it's not even close.
Vocabulary-Pollution@reddit
Ond icin ond une toppin!
Majestic-Citron7578@reddit
Toaster Strudel and its not close. In a weird irony Im more likely to buy pop tarts for the kids as I can see a pop tart in the pantry and let it be but if I open the freezer and see a delicious toaster strudel the only debate is whether Ill eat the frosting while it's in the toaster or have the self control to spread it before I eat a whole box of them.
PracticalConcept260@reddit (OP)
Mmmmm! đź«
shuanm@reddit
You fancy kids, and your strudels. Throw a pop tart in the toaster, and get on the bus.
PracticalConcept260@reddit (OP)
You can't even toast an OG pop-tart. No! Gotta raw dog that goodness! Don't pretend... not even like you could get back into the house to use the kitchen in the day? Strudel's (correct spelling) were only a luxury discovered in college for me.. True story. Thank you PEL Grant system. Paid for a case or two of RWB and about three semesters of dorm life as well! Books were overrated in '91.
smokythejoker@reddit
It’s all about brown sugar and cinnamon pop tarts. I don’t know why they even make other flavors…
denvergardener@reddit
I still buy those from time to time as a guilty pleasure.
CommunicationNew3745@reddit
Boom!đź’ĄThis. Though, I must admit, the ~~Oreo~~ Cookies & Cream ones are a very close second . . .
ShinyWolverine@reddit
I lived on Toaster Strudel in college!
Flat_6_Theory@reddit
Pop tarts toasted with butter on them.
ThermoMother@reddit
I’ve always been team strudel but recently discovered buttered pop tarts and it’s glorious
NihilsitcTruth@reddit
As much as I loved apple cinnamon pop tarts, strudel is just so much better.
somewherein72@reddit
Toaster strudel, that glaze pouch that came with it sets it far above Pop-Tarts. The filling was tasty and that crust was flaky. There wasn't the excessive variety of pop tarts like we have here in the future and I'm not even sure they were frosted. I do recall that the old PopTarts were good, the crust parts were so much better. Not chalky at all like today.
GuitarCD@reddit
Eaten hot for breakfast? Toaster Strudel! Eaten cold from a vending machine at work at 10:45pm? Pop-Tarts!!
LaceyBloomers@reddit
None of those. My mom didn’t want us eating those kinds of things and we didn’t need vitamins because she fed us well nutritionally. Mom was awesome.
mhoner@reddit
LaceyBloomers@reddit
Bruce Campbell/Autolycus can call me Fancy Pants anytime. đź’•
Z-man1973@reddit
I guess you are just better than everyone else here then…
LaceyBloomers@reddit
Ok, if that’s the way you want to interpret it. I was very lucky to have the parents I did.
seattlemh@reddit
My mom was like your's. It completely backfired. So, I pick pop tarts.
Impossible_Disk8374@reddit
🙄
ThoughtCharming8917@reddit
Toaster strudels hot and with every last drop of the sugar frosting squeezed out of the plastic sleeve. Pop tarts cold for the win!
STFUisright@reddit
Omg I want one so bad now
afternever@reddit
Got any of them Dinos?
Desperate-Chip1819@reddit
I see these as two different things. Toaster Strudel is meant to be eaten warm. Pop Tarts are meant to be eaten right out of the box. They both hold their places equally.
jfrorie@reddit
Agreed, let's not get tribal over too wonderful forms of love.
Youronlyhope@reddit
Toaster Strudel all the way! Flaky, warm, icing drizzled, are you kidding me?
CanMoo@reddit
Team Pop Tart-Brown sugar Cinnamon!
Fun-Championship7330@reddit
Still eat them and they are still my favorite.
MaximumJones@reddit
That apple strudel goodness could not be matched.
Road_Dog65@reddit
I was so mad when they quit making the Vanilla Creme pop-tarts. I'd have gone to my grave eating them... or because of them ;)
catespice@reddit
Never seen these before in my life. I swear this sub is 95% American nostalgia.
mhoner@reddit
Well I guess that makes sense with Reddit being mainly an American forum with a majority of Redditors being from the good old U.S. of A.
I would also argue the stereotype of Gen X is American because it’s based out of American Culture. Not saying it’s exclusive but Gen X from Eastern Europe is going to look vastly different from Gen X from the US or Brazil.
catespice@reddit
You’re right. Maybe we need a “GenXNonAmerican” subreddit.
mangolamplight@reddit
Stop talking shit dude
RainbowsandCoffee966@reddit
Toaster strudel! My grandmother and i would have them for breakfast.
Sad-Corner-9972@reddit
Pop tarts for the mindless simplicity. Some of us are not morning people.
Buzzbait_PocketKnife@reddit
That toaster strudel was the shit!!!!
automata@reddit
Strudel all day
PixelMonkeyArt@reddit
WaterwingsDavid@reddit
Toaster Strudel! It's flaky and has icing. Ive lost interest in eating certain things as an adult and Pop Tarts is one of them.
Capable-Instance-672@reddit
Toaster strudel was delicious!!
PracticalConcept260@reddit (OP)
I agree. Both were yummy, the Strudel was the shit overall, but if you had to raw dog one, Pop-tarts were the ticket. Now they both seem to be about the same culinary delight as the cardboard a Tombstone pizza comes packaged on. Know it's not my aging pallet either... And don't even get me started on a McD's #1?!?
Z-man1973@reddit

PracticalConcept260@reddit (OP)
Well fuck my autocorrect (hope that's correct, not spaced or hyphenated.) Please note my correct use of mechanix within parentheses. You are truly what's wrong with this platform. Please find new hobbies.
Z-man1973@reddit
Wow, try to kindly correct your “autocorrect” issue and you have to bash me in return. Classy
Brilliant-Pie5207@reddit
Pop tarts, specifically frosted cherry, have my undying loyalty. That said, toaster strudel was pretty tasty especially if you wanted something hot. (I do not heat pop tarts)
TheJokersChild@reddit
I mean, Toaster Strudel is "the one kids want to eat." That flaky crust and the little icing packets you can doodle on them with? No contest.
But Pop Tarts do come in some pretty interesting flavors these days.
Then again, isn't Breakfast Strudel still a thing with the sausage and eggs inside?
8Deer-JaguarClaw@reddit
Pop Tarts for portability, but Toaster Strudels wins in every other category.
TheJokersChild@reddit
But you really need the case for Pop Tarts. They don't always travel well when they're only in the foil.
tidayo1370@reddit
Does anyone remember the bacon, egg, and cheese Toaster Strudel? Those were the best portable breakfast ever!
troisarbres@reddit
Both? I loved them both. I still see Pop-Tarts but I never see Toaster Strudels anymore.
Z-man1973@reddit
They are still readily available at every grocery store I go to.
somePig_buckeye@reddit
They are right beside the Eggos.
AppleFan1994@reddit
Toaster Strudel was so dang good. I ate a whole box one night. And drank Jolt at the same time. I was a bit jittery.
sickboy6_5@reddit
pop tarts 100%
but my mom liked toaster strudel, but she always got mad when i opened the topping packets and sucked out the sugar... some people, sheesh.
NoraClavicle@reddit
Yeah, but Danish-Go-Rounds though.
SomePeopleCallMeJJ@reddit
That is the correct answer.
AgentLead_TTV@reddit
toaster strudel for me all the way no question.
kramwest1@reddit
I ate whatever mom had available, but Toaster Strudels were the best—Unless we’re talking Entenmann’s Raspberry Danish.
WayPowerful484@reddit
markov-271828@reddit
I’ve eaten so many frosted strawberry Pop Tarts. Back in the day of course.
KingSolomonsFrog@reddit
Toaster Strudels are so fetch.
Mediocre-Proposal686@reddit
I don’t think my father, the inventor of Toaster Strudel, would be too pleased to hear about this!!
Beret_of_Poodle@reddit
charliefoxtrot9@reddit
That's not even fucking close. Toaster Strudel could send its frosting packet to that fight and still win on that alone.
Lightnenseed@reddit
Hell yeah! That icing is delicious!
suburbanplankton@reddit
Pop Tarts. Strawberry, unfrosted.
MrBrawn@reddit
Unfrosted? Heathen.
PracticalConcept260@reddit (OP)
Right? God damn savage!
FawnLeib0witz@reddit
There’s no reason to eat unfrosted pop tarts.
gravitydefiant@reddit
Frosted pop tarts contain gelatin, so they're out of bounds for strict Muslims, Jews, and vegetarians. That's a reason. Although I might argue that this problem is better solved by just not eating pop tarts.
Empty_Divide153@reddit
…with a bit butter melted on…yes, I’m a weirdo
Numerous_Bad1961@reddit
Brown sugar cinnamon Pop-Tarts still to this day.
2nd2lastdragon@reddit
Toaster Strudel > chalky hardtack
kramwest1@reddit
This
Fluid_Change_9647@reddit
I loved toaster strudels and would only heat them up about halfway so the filling would still be a little cold. They were superior to most pop tarts except for blueberry, s’mores, and cherry imo.
midwest-distrest@reddit
Bruh… Toaster Strudels were for rich kids. You have a Nintendo AND Toaster Strudels?! You bet your ass I wanna sleepover!
Jocks_Strapped@reddit
yeah I was lucky if I got cheese toast much less PopTarts
terry1381@reddit
I mean pot tarts are easy to keep around the other is probably better
Altruistic-Cut9795@reddit
I was always a fan of pop tarts as a kid. When Toaster Strudel came out , it definitely was a game changer.
Toaster Strudel FTW
fuckyoulahey@reddit
Toaster strudels have gone to complete shit...
Affectionate_Bid5042@reddit
For real. I bought a box to introduce them to my grandkids. They wouldn't eat them, so I tried one. I wouldn't eat them either so we ended up throwing the whole box out. Super disappointing, I remembered them so fondly.
Academic_Ad_8229@reddit
Toaster Strudels all the way. I still love them.
mdbuff@reddit
I’d eat the icing alone, if only it were more nutritious
MrBrawn@reddit
The filling is basically your daily allowance of fruit.
rubbish_heap@reddit
I vouldn't try cherry if I were you! sticks in my brain to this day
Empty_Divide153@reddit
Toaster Strudel aka “fancy” Pop Tarts
NoKing9900@reddit
Pop-Tarts. The Frosted Cherry ones are my favorite!
destiny_kane48@reddit
Same, did you try the Cherry jolly Rancher ones? Those were beyond amazing and I miss them so much.
My 11 year old recently expressed interest in pop tarts. He asked which were my favorite, so now he loves the Cherry too. 🥰
NoKing9900@reddit
Never had the Jolly Rancher ones. Would have loved them, cherry Jolly Rancher’s were my favorite
Hoon0967@reddit
Pop tarts just aren’t the same.  They’ve made too many tweaks with the original recipe.  I like Aldi store brand pop tarts better and they cost less. Â
Quick-Dream-1541@reddit
There was really no contest… toaster streusel was so much better, but sometimes you just want a pop tart.
Just like no one thinks McDonald’s makes a “good” hamburger. But sometimes, you just want a McDonald’s hamburger.
ArbainHestia@reddit
Toaster Strudel 100% every time.
Lostboyintheforest@reddit
Even keel depending on my mood.....but neither of them taste the same or as good as they used too.
cl8855@reddit
we were pop tarts people in the old days, but toaster strudles are way better to me today
themiracy@reddit
Toaster Strudels are objectively better, but I've only had them like once or twice in my life. Not that I really eat pop tarts anymore, either.
digdugnate@reddit
Toaster Strudel, all day.
