What do you think of this? Is there a better option in this price range—something flatter?

Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
You really aren't beating Ruger for a cheap high feature G19 copy. I wouldn't put much value into an aluminum frame over plastic and Ruger not making turkshit shotguns is a big selling point.
Aggravating-Fuel1704@reddit
Ruger makes shit semiauto pistols. They needed Magpuls help and to copy Glock to come out with something decent. 🤣
They all feel cheaply made. Even more than a "Turkshit" pistol like a Canik.
And the XF isn't even a G19 copy. It only uses a Glock barrel and magazine.
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
How is the recoil? I'm looking for the least amount of recoil possible.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Every 9mm pistol will have the same amount of recoil.
A heavy steel frame will have a slower impulse and feel less "sharp", a lighter slide will also feel less sharp. A heavy slide and a higher barrel over the grip will twist upwards more. Some people have a strong preference on how the recoil feels, but it's there all the same.
The exception being a barrel mounted (not slide) brake/compensator which will reduce recoil some at the cost of significantly more noise at the shooter's ears and behind them.
Da_hoodest_hoodrat@reddit
Objectively untrue lol. Felt recoil is greatly varied by weight of the firearm, if there is a ported barrel/ muzzle device, ammo choice, recoil spring resistance, bore axis, and more things that I can’t think of off the top of my head this second.
There is genuinely more of a chance that 2 handguns of the same caliber will have different felt recoil than the same.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Reading isn't that hard dude.
Da_hoodest_hoodrat@reddit
You contradicted yourself at every step of your comment. Recoil is not all the same. If “impulse speed” and “feel” change between firearms, the amount of recoil is not the same lmfao. What you said made no sense so I corrected it for anyone else reading.
If you are talking about the actual ft/lbs of energy being reciprocated into the shooter(recoil), it is still not the same between all the factors that I listed in my previous comment.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
My lack of faith in humanity is resorted, What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Lawrence_skywalker@reddit
If you're really worried about recoil most pawn shops can't wait to rid of P320s. You have a good chance of getting a one that's extra reliable.
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
Why do they want to get rid of them? Are they bad?
msur@reddit
Some P320's have on rare occasions fired for no apparent reason. As a result, Sig now recommends that you do not put rounds in the chamber of the gun, or in the magazine, or anywhere near the gun. When fully unloaded the gun is completely reliable and inert.
QuokkaAMA@reddit
Sig managed to take the shitty experience of "pulling the trigger" out of the equation.
JimMarch@reddit
I've got a 9mm smaller than that - same size as a Glock 26. I did something ridiculous and cheap to seriously carve up recoil: gas pedals. (I only use one at a time.)
Mine are dirt cheap, huge and hilarious. I'm able to get away with this insanity because I design and build my own style of fast-draw fanny pack.Â
I'm basically putting the full power of my offhand thumb into the recoil control game, forward of the triggerguard, pinching the front of the gun between offhand thumb down and offhand fingers up (under the triggerguard).
If you don't want to have to make your own holster, the Antimatter Industries Wing is a folding gas pedal in the same location as my setup, similar in size, much more expensive because it's about $110 plus it needs to mount on a specific weapon mounted light so it's about $225 to $250 with light. But because the pedal folds it fits in conventional holsters.
Wing (see top picture for usage):
https://www.antimatterindustries.com/wing-buy-now
My bizarre holster:Â
https://youtu.be/RWFif9d3k00
My freaky build (and yeah, this isn't just daily carry, it's "every time I have pants on" carry):
https://imgur.com/gallery/61h11Jw
It doesn't make the gun longer like an add-on comp, doesn't make it louder and because you're less likely to limp wrist, reliability goes up - with my setup or the Antimatter Industries Wing.

BigBoarBallistics@reddit
9mm is not a high recoiling cartridge lol
Threather19@reddit
Be normal and get an RXM
illestdomer2005@reddit
RXM feels amazing outside of the trigger.
BigBoarBallistics@reddit
the rxm's trigger is pretty good wytb? Much better than stock glock
airmech1776@reddit
Idk why people say this. Shooting them back to back to back, Gen5, MR920, and RXM, the Ruger is the heaviest and least smooth trigger I own.
BigBoarBallistics@reddit
the rxm does NOT have a heavy trigger lol
How many rounds have you put through it / dry fire? It has a rolling break but that's part of what contributes to its smooth pull. Mine is buttery smooth.
airmech1776@reddit
It certainly isnt horrible, and does its job well enough, but it is heavier and grittier than my other glocks. I have 4 Glocks, the MR 920, and the RXM. I have no doubt that the difference is measurable, but I'm not going to buy a trigger pull gauge just for that. Only gun Ive owned with a less pleasant trigger was a Hellcat Pro. Sample size of only 6 guns I guess.
BaronvonBrick@reddit
Alright listen. Let's just agree that we're all wrong.
illestdomer2005@reddit
Long reset as I recall as well. Compare it to a CZ P-10 at a similar price point, and it’s not even close (my personal preference).
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
But what about the recoil? My hands are small, and I have little strength in my wrists.
BenefitKey8953@reddit
Dull_Reference_5094@reddit
Oooof. Recommend the girl gun.
BaronvonBrick@reddit
Lol I got one for my 62 year old ma and she loves it
cleveraccountname13@reddit
Gyro ball for grip and wrist stength. $20 and 5 minutes a day make a big differenc.
Ruger will leave you money for an optic for your budget. Or a holster and a belt. Or ammo to practice.

Thanks

Skill issue
msur@reddit
It's fine. I believe in you. Try it at a rental range.
Chase0288@reddit
I'd buy a Shield X. Same capacity as a G19, but thinner framed, standard model 500 USD.
lilcoold12345@reddit
CZ P10C
Phenomenal handgun for the price.
DayManFOTNightMan@reddit
Really any CZ is phenomenal for the price.
xhypurr@reddit
I had to look this up to see what it even was. I guess I don’t understand….why? If I was going to buy a metal-framed pistol I’d go DA/SA and buy a CZ P-01/PCR for a hundred bucks more from a company I know is going to exist twenty years from now.
Aggravating-Fuel1704@reddit
You do know that Fusion Firearms has been around for nearly 20 years right? And the founder was president of Dan Wesson that help build their reputation which CZ bought.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
But what does that have to do with ~~the price of tea in China~~ Turkish pistols?
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
I am looking for a 9mm for self-defense, with the least possible recoil.
xhypurr@reddit
…polymer framed 9mm has too much recoil? Alright….judgement aside:
Browning High-Power ($500-900) CZ-75 / PCR / P-01 ($600-700) Beretta 92 series ($600+) Sig P226/229 ($1000+, maybe $700 used)
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
My hands so weak.
MediocreVibrations@reddit
Weak? M&P Shield EZ
Thegrandestpoo@reddit
I have a Glock 17.v and it’s great. Very manageable recoil.
snootch2thenootch@reddit
Rost Martin RM1C
youy23@reddit
You can buy a LEO trade in glock 17 gen 5 for like $400.
If you’re gonna rely your life on it, I’d probably stay away from the ruger rxm till it proves itself more. Ruger has had an absolutely awful reputation for poor QC.
Dull_Reference_5094@reddit
Brother if you don’t go buy the Ruger RXM, you will regret it for the rest of your life. What other pistol can you have a G19, G17, G26 all in the same handgun without having to register multiple frames? And don’t say Polymer80 lol.
Seriously, I can’t recommend the RXM more as not only a budget option, but as any option for a 9mm pistol.
Electronic_Camera251@reddit
Regardless of what you decide on $600 is too close by the time you have the bits and bobs necessary for your personal accessories, the bits and bobs necessary for safe handling storage, maintenance you even if you went bargain basement hunting (this can be a money saver or a money sink its up to you to decide where your dollars are best spent) you will be significantly over budget without even smelling ammo another consideration ,i have seen people buying a “quirky” first gun only to realize that the available aftermarket support leaves something to be desired . Therefore it’s probably a good idea to have a full package in mind because the gun is only on part of the system
DesignerEconomist224@reddit
I picked one of these up for my wife for $500. Honest opinion its a cross between gen 3 g19 and Cz shadow 2 grip. It shoots very well and feels great in the my hands. It uses a full length slide rails and makes smooth shooting. Comes with an rmr/sro mounting plate and we enjoy the larger optic. If im comparing it to rxm, id take this. It has a way better trigger. Hope this helps.
smitbret@reddit
Instead of getting something unknown and unproven, get a Springfield XD-M or, if recoil is that big of a deal, get a Bodyguard 2.0 in .380 ACP
Blakefilk@reddit
If you’re that worried about recoil and you have weak hands I’d suggest a 380 and go from there.
BigBoarBallistics@reddit
Ruger RXM without a fraction of a doubt. Never even heard of the "XF PRO"
Missouri_Pacific@reddit
Get a KelTec P15 Metal! It’s lightweight and easy to conceal ! A vendor onGB has a couple for $479 https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1170773855
MM_Spartan@reddit
Spring XD Mod 4 is an excellent gun. I bought the Mod 2 10 years and it’s been my favorite pistol to this day.
wlogan0402@reddit
Used p10c for $300, streamlight for $100, handful of used mags for $80, and $120 in ammo
sinsofcarolina@reddit
CZ P10 for a budget striker fire
Lawrence_skywalker@reddit
Good luck getting a holster or anything accessories.
Also RXM cost 400 at the big box store all day long.
RedOwl97@reddit
I am not familiar with Fusion’s lineup. At $600 there is quite a wide range in this size class. Ruger RXM at $400 and the Canik MC9 Prime at $600 are both good bets. However, they are both polymer framed whereas the XF is aluminum. I actually prefer polymer but you do you.
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
I am looking for a 9mm for self-defense, with the least possible recoil.
RedOwl97@reddit
Heavier guns tend to be better for recoil management and the XF4 is about 3 ounces heavier than the Ruger - but I would still take the RXM. If you want to add weight then use the money that you save on the gun to buy a light.
sexywizard420@reddit
First question is what is the pistol for? If a general purpose use is what you want...
If it were me buying, I'd get a larger slim 9mm like FN reflex XL, sig p365 macro, S&W shield x
ContributionSimple28@reddit (OP)
I am looking for a 9mm for self-defense, with the least possible recoil.
sexywizard420@reddit
Check out the CZ P10C comp or S&W shield plus performance center edition
sploader@reddit
The Shield Plus is the best "if you could only own one gun" gun. The P-10 C is just a great gun among a sea of Glock-like guns.
Mdmrtgn@reddit
I really like the way my xf shoots. However if anything gets fucked up you have to send it in because the extra parts have been sold out for like a year and a half now. They seem to be more focused on their 1911 stuff.
SleepySummerSun@reddit
I ordered one. Even after sending it to the manufacture to get it fixed. Cannot fire a mag without getting a failure to eject or the slide fully seating a new round. Recoil wise with a jtt comped barrel it’s way better than a ported hellcat
Unhappy_Yoghurt_4022@reddit
I’ve never shot one, so I can’t speak too much to it but the trigger is pretty sweet.
