I'm making a Xena inspired game... And applied a Xena skin to it 😜

Just to clarify, it is not going to be a Xena game. I tried that a few years ago but since I can't get the creative license, I'm just going to make a new character.

But this doesn't mean I can't have fun with Xena during development, right?! 😁 So, I got a Xena 3D model and applied it to my player character! It looks better than I expected tbh!

Dude, it’d be kinda funny if the Xena scream would act as a buff for the character or like a Skyrim-esque disorienting effect on the enemies

There is an official Nintendo 64 game called "Xena - Warrior princess - The talisman of fate". I haven't played it yet, but it should be fun.

Conan Exiles the only game where Xena is possible just enough at least. Her armor set isn’t available or anything nor her weapons but there are chakrams and all kinds of swords

This isn't over the shoulder, that's a bit closer to the camera la resident evil. This is third person.

Would you prefer something closer to assassin's creed (always facing the way you're moving towards), first person or an orthographic view like Hades? I'm just curious.

I'm just going with this specific third person view cause it's what comes naturally to me, having grown up with games like Tomb Raider and stuff.

I was just talking with one of my old dev buddies about how much fun a GoW-style Xena game would be.

Looks great! Love the transversal mechanics. Change their names to "Zoona" and "Gobreel" and put it out!

Omfg I'd love that. Spesh if it was more LOTR ROTK style so you could have multiple characters all fighting together. Seeing Joxer, Xena, Gabby and Autolcyus fight off a horde of warriors would be amazing.

Looks cool but her movement set is absolutely modeled after a man. Like when you try to apply female skins to male characters in a game. Fix the way she carries herself and you've got a nice Tron Run/r clone

Thanks! I can see why you say that and you're not wrong about it. The thing is that this was animated for another character and then I applied a Xena model as a skin on it even though the proportions don't match precisely. I'll keep refining the animations and will keep that in mind for future iterations of the actual character.

That looks very cool! She’s certainly defying gravity like a certain iconic Warrior Princess!

I also think that a generic Amazon / Warrior Princess skin would be acceptable, as long as the word “Xena” is never mentioned.

Wow! This blows my mind! I love it, even though you can barely see anything, but just thinking about or imagining a modern video game with Xena makes me believe in wishful thinking. I know you say that due to licensing issues you can't make it directly with Xena, but you could always create a similar character. And who knows, maybe some user, or even you yourself, could make a "fan mod" with Xena as the protagonist of the game. (But the official game isn't with Xena.) Have you thought about that? It could be a great idea for all of us who are fans of the series; we would be eternally grateful.

Thanks! The concept is still going to be mythological. The main character would be Atalanta and the game would explore her time with the Argonauts and her relation to Artemis if I manage to make it. That's why the spear... She's a hunter princess😜

This is so cool! Best of luck with your game. What genre is it going to be? I thought it was a platformer like a 3D Celeste until I saw the monster at the end. What are those monsters Xena fought in Mortal Beloved? For a second I thought that’s who was waiting for her at the end of the map lol

Exactly! It's a harpy! I'm going to focus on combat next! Traversal I think has a good base for now. Probably that's why it feels like 3D Celeste right now 😅

Btw, I'd love to re-animte one of these scenes from the show sometime... They feel so dated now 😅

The skin looks great. I can't imagine getting the rights for Xena would be cheap or possible since Universal owns her along with Raimi and Tappert. One of the reasons I love Assassin's Creed Odyssey is exactly because Kassandra feels like Xena and Wonder Woman.

I am in awe of anyone who can create their own video game. You should keep pursuing your own character, the world needs new heroes.

I'm on it! Thanks! Once I made peace with the fact that I can't have Xena, I started getting excited about my own character. But I'm an animator - I can do some game development and can animated things but probably will hire someone to model her for me. 😉
