They're back!
RegardedDipshit@reddit
I don't think I've seen anyone actually complete one of these builds from the last batch, doesn't seem like an easy build
EdgarsRavens@reddit
The rule is; the cheaper the kit the harder the build.
Alconium@reddit
Mark Serbu has a video about the kits he bought. Pretty clever idea with a mandrel on the inside to align the receiver for welding.
speezly@reddit
Where do you even find receivers?
MildlyUseful_829@reddit
You don’t, from what I’ve seems
BlizzardOwO@reddit
Are receivers able to be made? Assuming you have a class III FFL
GTE_Engineering@reddit
It’s a tube gun, with a welder and a lathe and a dremel anything is possible
NotAurelStein@reddit
...and skill.
okcumputer@reddit
I could own a welder, lathe, and dremel and never get this thing together.
noha_thedestro@reddit
You dont need an FFL to manufacture a firearm, just need an FFL to sell manufactured firearms
blessedbymortarion@reddit
You do in CO, can’t manufacture receivers.
noha_thedestro@reddit
Ok, in normal states that dont have stupid gun laws, you don't need an FFL.
Dr_Jabroski@reddit
The only issue I see here is that it is an open bolt SMG. Which is a machine gun, and I think all open bolts are classified as such because all you need for it to go full auto is releasing the sear. So if you value the life of your dog you should do some long and hard thinking before completing one of these, unless you can somehow make it a closed bolt semi auto.
Mewho10@reddit
I think these aren't as bad as most open bolt SMGs because the bolt already has a hole for the firing pin, rather than it being one piece, so you don't have to drill a hole.
You'd have to form 1 it to keep the stock though, and without its kind of weird and bulky for no reason.
WatercressStreet2084@reddit
you dont
Triggerz777@reddit
Tig welder goes meeeeeeeeee
VallettaAwoo@reddit
there are a few builders but its going to cost between 900-1400
however, youll have a sick as hell gun
bigfatround0@reddit
Can you name a few? I found one (proteus armaments), but he's got a wait list stretching to 2027.
DrFeeIgood@reddit
MGM LLC on Facebook (in Northern Kentucky) made jigs within the last month or so and built a couple. He ran the jigs a couple times in batches and sold them. Its doable. He also has videos up about the guns and the build.
Hisetic@reddit
These will be back, I talked to the owner of Centerfire at the NRA annual. He said they are going to flood the market with these. They will be like the CETME C kits out there now... also CETME L kits are coming for $159, supposed to release this week but it might be later.
All these kits are coming from Lebanon, as of mid 2025 thanks to US aid they are in the process of modernizing their small arms to align with NATO platforms. The old spanish weaponry is getting cut up and purchased by companies like CF.
economicconstruction@reddit
Are the “new” CETME L kits different than the ones they have currently? Intact barrel?
Hisetic@reddit
Intact barrel, they won't have a flat included because he couldn't work out a deal with the primary flat maker for that rifle in the though.
economicconstruction@reddit
I’m looking forward to this kit. Hope they have an option to get a bayonet with it too.
SteedOfTheDeid@reddit
Who do I have to beg to get FAMAS kits imported?
onyourleftbro@reddit (OP)
Moka's Raifus had some in stock a week or two ago.
Hisetic@reddit
Go back and time and prevent the French from destroying all of their rifles when they switched platforms. What is out there now is going to be slim pickings and expensive. SONNY I KNOW WHAT I GOT!
Catch22Copilot@reddit
That guy didn't mention anything about more FAL's did he? Missed the wood stock kits and would love to get a second chance.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Bowman has Israeli kits for pretty cheap.
Hisetic@reddit
He did not, we mostly talked about all the Spanish stuff. Im guessing based on the prices of the early FAL kits coming out of that country there weren't a lot.
ciscoladder@reddit
Well, if there’s no receiver, then how are you supposed to put it together ? I mean most all the parts require the receiver to be the central point of attachment.
SteedOfTheDeid@reddit
There is a receiver, it's just cut into 3 pieces
Droguegun@reddit
Remember the cheaper they are the harder they are to build. There jigs out there and repair tubes probably the hardest part is figuring out how to make that lower s/an only.
Crash_Ntome@reddit
Apex restocked as well
Responsible_Screen81@reddit
Someone needs to design a 3D printable
LostPrimer@reddit
It's an open bolt bullet hose. It doesn't really lend itself to being easily converted.
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
Who said anything about conversion?
Squirrelynuts@reddit

Appropriate_Till6129@reddit
I'm almost positive it's legal to own an open bolt semi auto gun. I've heard smarter lawyers than me say so. The ATF doesn't like it but as long as it's not a machine gun it can have an open bolt. None of this readily convertible bullshit.
thechatchbag@reddit
I'm going to start collecting parts kits, but being in WA I wonder if they'll ship them to me.
bigfatround0@reddit
I dont know squad about kits, but im in for one. Bought a sling as well for the hell of it.
GreenTree3@reddit
Well there are basically 4 general tiers of parts kits builds assuming you're not an FFL making MGs... 1. Parts kits with new complete semi auto receivers you just have to add the parts onto (VZ61, M16A1) 2. Parts kits with semi auto bolt and 80% receiver support that require basic dremel/drill/filing and welding, but no other significant tooling (Sten, PPS-43) 3. Parts kits that have lots of semi auto support and/or 80% receivers, but require more tooling (jigs, lathe, presses, etc...) and/or more substantial welding (AK, FAL, G3) 4. Parts kits with basically no aftermarket semi auto support, require you to weld or manufacture your own receiver from scratch, and also require you to convert your own bolt and FCG to semi auto only. (These kits)
Although there isn't any aftermarket support currently for these with the massive wave of kits coming in hopefully someone like Indianapolis Ordnance will be making tubes and semi auto bolts soon enough.
CallsignFlorida@reddit
God damnit. I was waiting to hear back on how much these suck to build.
DrNinjaPandaManEsq@reddit
I was doing some research last night and apparently the answer is “a lot”. Nobody makes receivers, the kits are sometimes missing various small parts and there’s often a bit of welding and dremel work involved.
Which is a shame because these things are dope, wish they were as easy as the vz61 kits.
krismasstercant@reddit
What makes the VZ 61 so easy is that it's already a closed bolt gun and you don't need to modify the bolt and create a whole new fcg.
DrNinjaPandaManEsq@reddit
Ah, okay, that makes sense.
scotchtapeman357@reddit
The parts kit cost is usually directly proportional to the difficulty/expense in getting/making a receiver.
Be_My_FriENT@reddit
That was quick
sickels61@reddit
The picture from one of the reviews looks like one of the most complete "cut" builds I've ever seen. Rather impressive frankly.
