For something made for dirt cheap in the 80's, mine has been the most reliable gun I own (with shockwave metal mags). As far as mgs go, this is the best choice available.

I’ve only put 200 rds through it with no issues my only concern is the rear go the receiver welds cracking eventually hoping if I replace buffer pad often I can prevent that

I haven't had an issues so far with that, but yeah make sure the pad is good but also just get a Lage upper that has a lower rate of fire. They've got a few where the bolt doesn't even contact the rear at all during firing.

Befriend a welder, the reciever is sheet metal so it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I personally wouldn't charge a gime if you let me run a couple test mags through it.

I feel like the only safe way to hold this thing is with both hands on the grip like a regular pistol. Though I have seen a lot of pics/videos of people holding it further up when it has a can on it. That's gotta get hot fast!

I shot one that belonged to a friend of my uncle in the mid - late 90s and he had his own handmade wrap for his suppressor. It was "the good insulation you can't get no more"
Looking back pretty sure it was asbestos under the outer sleeve.
