Do people regularly eat pudding?

I’m 30 years old and everyday have to have a lil sweet treat after dinner. Usually this is chocolate buttons/maltesers/a gu… something like that.
Is this a common thing for other adults? If so, what’s your pudding of choice?
I hope we’re all out here enjoying our little sweet treats and it’s not just me with the palate of an 8 year old 😂
TedWasler@reddit
Lazy supermarket shopping / ready meals, the desserts are always so poor. Had an experience with a Tesco ‘special’ cheesecake a while back that still haunts me. WTF have they made it out of? Still, looking at the posts below, at least it coated my teeth protectively for about a fortnight.
So yep, Maltesers, Revels, regularly.
THE-RADISH-MAN@reddit
Honestly no. Maybe once a week. Seems like an unhealthy habit to me. I don't have a sweet tooth so that helps.
dwair@reddit
Generally I don't eat pudding after a meal, but I do eat 'pudding' as a meal. I'm 59 and have given up on convention.
Bore_Da_Pawb@reddit
Dentist here. Everyday yes. And my kids. Life’s for the living!!!!! (Also if we’re being really pedantic: if you eat it straight after dinner it’s barely any extra decay risk, and if you’ve had a decent bit of protein and fat in your dinner, your blood sugar won’t take much of a hit either!)
LiamJonsano@reddit
My dentist always says this, eat it while your mouth is already covered in things that can cause delay and it’ll have less impact, drink coke with meals etc… they can make it sound so easy but I feel like I’d just go again an hour later if I ate dessert straight after 😅😭
urbanfoxtrot@reddit
Any dentist saying it’s ok to drink coke is not ok
Jemima_puddledook678@reddit
What dentist is trying to tell you to completely abstain from fizzy drinks? They don’t expect you to prioritise your teeth over enjoying life.
urbanfoxtrot@reddit
I’m not sure how fizzy drinks make you enjoy life? Personally I enjoy life without them (and also without diabetes and tooth rot)
Sea-Ganache-4330@reddit
lol our dentist said this to my son, he also said don’t graze just eat the packet 😅
New_Slice_1580@reddit
Don’t believe him, he is just ensuring future business for his industry!
Bore_Da_Pawb@reddit
*her!! Got plenty of business in the NHS in Wales already, don’t worry 🤣
sock_cooker@reddit
To be fair, what were the odds of encountering an NHS dentist?
_poptart@reddit
If we wait 2 years, we might see one!
Ok_Young1709@reddit
That just makes it completely unbelievable, there aren't any. Fake news, ai bot etc etc.
/s obviously

sushi_collector12@reddit
What has you being a dentist got to do with this?
Wishmaster891@reddit
Slightly off topic but... a hygenist once said to me i should not drink pepsi as its bad for your teeth/gums. I said i only drink 1-2 a a week but she still said i shoudln't. But if people didnt these companies wouldn't be in business so obviously there are millions drinking soft drinks regularly or semi regularly. Do dentists think the same or was this hygenist being particularly anal.
Jaded_Library_8540@reddit
She was being anal.
TheWyrdSmyth@reddit
I don't think I'd want a filling from an anal dentist.
carsndogs420@reddit
I'd fill a dentist anally 😅
TheWyrdSmyth@reddit
TBF same 😂
Isgortio@reddit
You can have them but keep them to meal times only. Don't have many of them either :D
Source: dental therapist.
Isgortio@reddit
Part of why I'm in dentistry is because I like chocolate. I'm in the best place to deal with the consequences hahaha
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Love this!!
Aromatic_Pea_4249@reddit
Not usually with dinner, but I'll have a yoghurt and fruit with lunch.
I'll save desserts for when we go out for a meal.
NoObstacle@reddit
I almost always have greek yoghurt and jam. Cheap and (relatively) healthy
the_state_monad@reddit
Not really. I’m not restricting or anything I just dive crave anything sweet after my meals. I don’t think I’ve had dessert in months tbh
730463628@reddit
No. Especially not every day. Maybe once every few weeks I may have the urge to eat something after tea. I suppose a lot of it comes down to not eating until around 9pm most nights. By the time I've eaten and cleaned up, I can't be bothered to get up to source more food, I'd rather go to bed.
flinstoneguy55@reddit
Yes, i am not satisfied without a sweet at the end. Lol
annamj2000@reddit
Yes, not usually a pudding per se but usually a decaf tea and a sweet treat like a small choc or biscuit.
Sea-Ganache-4330@reddit
Didn’t as a child but I do as an adult ☺️
Rusty_Tap@reddit
My children will become borderline hysterical if there is no pudding for them to have after dinner.
I like it myself, but I can take it or leave it. My partner must have at least something chocolate though, bless her.
StatusPudding7051@reddit
Yes I do. But that probably partly explains my weigh I am 600 lbs
Competitive-Fact-820@reddit
User Name checks out
toffeepuds@reddit
Yep. Got a big bar of Galaxy I've been breaking apart each night.
I'm always the only person who wants dessert in restaurants too! No one ever wants any!
LoyalFridge@reddit
I hate when I have my eye on a crème brûlée or a banoffee pie and everyone else says no thanks. At least someone get an espresso so I can have my pud pud! It’s a hard life.
Competitive-Fact-820@reddit
If I'm eating out and getting full i will deliberately stop eating so I can have dessert.
Husband doesn't have a sweet tooth at all but he knows I WILL have a dessert no matter what.
Competitive-Fact-820@reddit
I've started having a slice of cake with cream after my tea. Currently on a coffee and walnut cake and it is pretty decent flavour considering it is a basic Tesco one.
No clue why this started but I've been making it a bit too frequent of a habit this year - going through one cake a week and a pot of cream (I get the extra thick version so I don't have to whip it)
AssumptionBudget279@reddit
Yep I tried to cut back and started to have some 1 or 2 hard boiled sweets instead since my logic is they are better for me than cake or chocolate but um haven’t achauly checked that.
DogFoodManUK@reddit
I used to be the same, chocolate every evening after my main meal of the day. Since Christmas though, I cut out chocolate and all foods containing added sugar. Since then I've also, with the help of my partner, switched out unhealthy diet options. We now eat way more healthily than we ever used to. I've lost weight and feel a lot better. Still have chocolate cravings though.
TomfromLondon@reddit
Not very often as a bunch of sugar just isn't very healthy, I do love a cake but it's a treat
Interesting_Fish309@reddit
My fella hahaha he has a pudding tummy. Me not so much.
Legit_Vampire@reddit
Me too just finished off the meal in a nice way
SnooDonuts6494@reddit
Not always, just occasionally. My go-to is ice-cream - mostly 'coz it's zero prep and lasts months in the freezer. I usually nuke it for about 10 seconds so it's softer.
KEW95@reddit
Nope. Then again, I’d eat sweet before savoury. I also can’t eat a dessert straight after a meal; if I can still kinda taste the meal, I need to drink it away before I eat anything I wouldn’t eat with the meal 😅
vagueconfusion@reddit
Always. A couple of biscuits or a mini roll at lunch and something after dinner (even if just a vanilla yoghurt & fruit combo, or a kitkat) is a must have.
Currently chocolate trifles, fruit yoghurt, a few different icecream flavours, ice lollies and kitkats have been in the recent rotation.
Although of the aforementioned list from the past month, only the ice cream and a few rowntrees ice lollies remain.
PNWest01@reddit
Pudding is very soothing for some reason. Cool and smooth and creamy. I'm old and still love pudding.
Sad-Grade6972@reddit
I've never really had a sweet tooth actually, but I'm unusual there. I'm 42 and never had a filling, so it's not such a bad thing. After my main course, I'd typically have a couple of pieces of fruit as a sweet, then a coffee and cigarette.
Xenozip3371Alpha@reddit
I assume you don't mean actual pudding.
Pretty much every day.
Nirnroot_Enjoyer@reddit
Apparently the worst snack foods for your teeth things that get stuck in your teeth all day.
Crisps are a prick example. Despite not being sugary, they'll easily get stuck in your teeth, causing far more damage over time, that a shorter exposure to something sugary..
But yeah, I do like a sweet treat after dinner,!
BlackCatWitch29@reddit
After lunch and dinner if I can.
Might have a slice of cake for one dessert, then some chocolate buttons for the other.
Chocolate buttons are a daily must-have dessert for me.
ilovethatforu@reddit
Absolutely yes. Every single day. I hate the idea of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ food. My sweet treat is good for my body because it makes me happy and feel satisfied. It is part of my generally pretty balanced diet. Without my daily sweet treat I would feel like I’m restricting myself and that sounds truly miserable.
im_just_called_lucy@reddit
YES. I absolutely agree with your reasoning.
I think the definition of a “healthy diet” should also include a mental health/mood aspect to it too. If you’re forcing yourself to eat tiny salads every day with barely any exciting parts like protein or sauce, you’re not happy eating it and repeatedly eating food you don’t want to eat but feel like you have to worsens your mental health. A chocolate brownie isn’t exactly the most nutritious food but why shouldn’t a small chocolate brownie be eaten every day if it’s a comforting finish for any chocolate lover to a meal, a sign that all the hard labour of the day is done and you’re free to relax until bed? It’s a “healthy” food to you in this context as it regulates good mental health and without it, you’re less likely to have a good mood.
MaplePinecone@reddit
This is totally speaking my language. Spent enough time in diet culture land that I spent years not enjoying life, or food.
There is no good or bad food. Just different nutritional value. Life is for living, and food is for nourishing the body, mind and soul 🥰
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
For suuuuure 👏i stay super fit but life is for living and a sweet treat is the treat we all deserve for being humans and dealing with life!
achillea4@reddit
Dried fruit like dates, apricots, dried apple slices... Or the biscuit tin if feeling decadent.
Brave_Assumption6@reddit
Absolutely. I like to enjoy the evening putting the bloody phone and social media away and just sitting back and relaxing with some music or something and having pudding such like milk chocolate or apple pie! Anyone who doesn't is missing out lol
Tattycakes@reddit
Yes, except I can’t do it in moderation and devour pies, cookies and chocolate like nobody’s business, and am now very fat and have completely cut it out since Christmas and already lost a stone.
Evening_Archer_2202@reddit
Nah, my parents never let us have any, so it never stuck with me

Pudding is the British term! Dessert is the American equivalent.

Simbooptendo@reddit
You bet your ASS I do. Usually something chocolate related
blazoxian@reddit
It’s a bit late and my eyes saw this post as if it was on r/terrifyingasfuck for some reason ( where creepy stuff is posted ) . My brain reacted with disgust before I realised
CoppyandPuzz@reddit
Yes, always. Lunch and dinner. Not usually a proper dessert but a cookie, muffin, cereal bar, rice pudding etc
EcstaticAd9234@reddit
I have found my people
Successful_Quail_349@reddit
I am not a pudding person. If im eating off a set menu ill pick the cheese board. But at home I regularly eat "nibbles" as a pre- dinner treat. A small bowl of crisps and/or a few olives. Its like a savoury reverse pudding and if Maltesers bring you some joy munch away I say
Heavy-Locksmith-3767@reddit
Same, I like a salad with cured meats and cheese or olives and nuts.
badonkadonked@reddit
I have a theory that you’re either a starter person or a dessert person. Me, I’m a starter person, I love a lil savoury snack (which is why I can’t keep crisps in the house lol)
lilidragonfly@reddit
Same, olives and cheese are definite weaknesses of mine
TalynRahl@reddit
It used to be, for me. But that was the first thing to go when I started losing weight. Now I only have dessert in a Sunday.
South-Visual3803@reddit
Yogurt/ fruit/ hot chocolate and somtimes 90% dark cheese because I’m ferral 😂
Severus_1987@reddit
Immediate Pudding usually something I can grab and eat quickly like a Jaffa cake or little chocolate bar. Then for Second Puddings later in front of the TV a decent chunk of chocolate and some sort of cake
Rebuffs@reddit
Impossible to eat just one Jaffa cake. It’s the whole box or nothing

jack_watson97@reddit
I didnt eat pudding or anything sweet really for about 10 years. Between the ages of 16-26 I just had no sweet tooth. But then it came back and after eating dinner I really craving something sweet after
anotherwankusername@reddit
Sometimes I even go straight to pudding.
turboRock@reddit
never personally. i have no interest in sugar. i think this comes down to my brother being t1 diabetic, so we didnt really have that in the house.
Kapika96@reddit
Yep!
Yoghurt is one of my main ones. Pretty much always have yoghurt in the fridge and buy more every time I shop. Cakes, biscuits, and fruit (particularly strawberries) are good too of course.
imcalledaids@reddit
I’ve lost over 30kg (from 112kg to 80kg), I couldn’t have done it without a little sweet treat every day after dinner when I have my cup of tea
ramapyjamadingdong@reddit
I love this! I'm 1 week in to trying to lose 15kg (1.5kg lost wahoo) and I'm finding fitting a little pick me up into my daily allowance makes it feel achievable.
imcalledaids@reddit
Hell yeah! You’ve got this.
If I can give you any piece of advice, it would be this - the time will pass regardless. Dont try to rush it. It took me 2 years to lose 30kg. Very steady, very slow, allowing me to really change my life style rather than get a quick fix
Tactically_Dangerous@reddit
What treat do you have? I'm currently trying to loose 25KG and feel like I'm being too restrictive which is going to end up with me binge eating. I need something just to take the edge off!
imcalledaids@reddit
Honestly, what don’t I have? Sometimes I’ll have a normal biscuit, or a bit of chocolate. I try to bake high fibre snacks, brownies, banana bread, I have these like sweet soft cookies at the moment that are lovely
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
That’s amazing, congrats! I truly feel the way to maintaining a healthy weight is by allowing yourself the things you love (in moderation)!
imcalledaids@reddit
Thank you! I agree completely.
IsopodCommercial8299@reddit
Yes otherwise I have nothing to look forward to. Sometimes I'll have a few chocolates but today I had an almond croissant the size of a loaf with a cup of coffee.
chipscheeseandbeans@reddit
Don’t you look forward to your actual dinner?
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
YUM. Almond croissants are elite 😋
HMS_Hexapuma@reddit
I usually have an Aldi brand cornetto. My other half usually has a few scoops of Ben and Jerrys (the dairy-free stuff as she's lactose intolerant).
MoonChaser22@reddit
I've got a massive sweet tooth. I tend to vary what I have, but I try to have some kind of sweet treat when budget allows. I've got some homemade ginger cake in the cupboard right now
Severe_Mastodon8072@reddit
I have something sweet most days, yeah. Current fave is fizzy pencils from the local corner shop!
Weirdly I don’t have much of a sweet tooth at default settings, but I take antidepressants which give me crazyyy sugar cravings.
funfun151@reddit
Huh I hadn’t even considered antidepressants as a potential reason for why I just want sweet things all the time now. Very interesting. Corner shop sweets are the greatest.
onlychans1986@reddit
I had a crippling addiction to Sainsbury’s (assuming you’re English for saying corner shop) they had me in a chokehold fir months 🤣😭 now Lidl sells good rum n raisin ice cream and these chocolate corn snacks so I’m in big trouble
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Omg that’s so interesting! I take sertraline for PMDD in my luteal phase, and only in my luteal phase do I crave sour sweets!!
Acrobatic_Block4226@reddit
Never had pudding as a kid, never have it as an adult, weird concept honestly. Not to say I don't eat sweets but pudding in the traditional sense no. You just ate a whole diner, why shovel down about 5/600cal
chipscheeseandbeans@reddit
Yeah I’m someone who likes a big portion of dinner. & then I’m stuffed until the next meal. Means I’m not interested in puddings or snacks.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
I mean, it’s usually like an hour later… if that makes it any better 👀😂
Many-Disaster-3823@reddit
DLTBB2@reddit

keithmk@reddit
I enjoy an apple after dinner, nice big one
intotheneonlights@reddit
100% - but I'm trying to shed a stone I gained over the last year and get back to my usual habits, so it tends to be something more like a hot chocolate or a microwaved FibreOne brownie with greek yoghurt and raspberries or Halo Top (or a protein mousse lol)
Ambitious_Rent_3282@reddit
Posh people do... :)
InviteAromatic6124@reddit
I do, usually a small chocolate mousse, fruit yoghurt or mini cheesecakes.
TurnOutrageous25@reddit
Me too!!! I mix it with Greek yogurt and lately discovered mini graham cracker pie shells….the pudding mini pies are abundant lately lol so far chocolate and banana cream have been elite
drunkenangel_99@reddit
I personally don’t because I don’t like sweet food, but everyone else I know has some form of pudding.
moiraroseallday@reddit
If I’m left to my own devices I’ll have a large lunch and then have pudding for dinner.
Aggressive_Chuck@reddit
I don't think I've ever had dessert
SnowflakeBaube22@reddit
Not everyday, but yes I do love a wee pudding.
ConditionImportant63@reddit
Sometimes I'm ravenous when I get home so I eat my "dessert" straight away and that gives me the headspace to cook something proper to eat for dinner!
auntie_climax@reddit
I do but it's plain yoghurt and berries, sometimes grate a bit of m&s dark chocolate into it too
Rebuffs@reddit
That’s a great idea. Will try
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Yessss I love this! Yoghurt, berries, melted biscoff spread and a few chocolate buttons is my go-to atm
Background-Agent-746@reddit
There you go with the buttons again!
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
I’m truly addicted to buttons 😂
GayAttire@reddit
I'm also on the yoghurt right now for puddings. 500g with coconut sprinkled, and/or raisins and maybe even a scotch pancake ripped up and tossed in.
Cinnamon-Dream@reddit
Same, coconut skyr with sweet freedom chocolate sauce!
Major_Bee4483@reddit
There’s always room in the dessert belly even when full 🤏🏻
carsndogs420@reddit
I love me an apple and pear crumble or rhubarb crumble or brownies or leave it a little later and enjoy some nachos with a movie
ShineAtom@reddit
I pretty much always need a little sweet treat. If I've not got anything else then probably some dates; otherwise some cake or chocolate. Or perhaps a creme caramel.
Isgortio@reddit
I probably shouldn't, but I'm an adult and I can eat what I want, no one can judge me
specialagentredsquir@reddit

We have a few squares of dark chocolate every day after supper. Not ‘healthy’ but seems to satisfy the craving!
Actual puddings are for the weekend. Lidl do a brilliant plum tart in their freezer section. Sells out all the time which is no surprise.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
I like to think of us all around the country, united over our sweet treats 🤗♥️
Britkraut@reddit
Only if I've had something spicy, so pretty much everyday
I need that creamy cooling goodness from things like cheesecake, ice cream and leftover chocolate from whatever I've recently celebrated (still getting through birthday, Christmas and Easter chocs right now)
Otherwise it's tea and biscuits, or cereal with too much milk
ZekeVG@reddit
Sometimes the sweet treat is dinner
onlychans1986@reddit
A Ben and jerrys pint for dinner is a legit meal lol
NinjaTeaDrinker@reddit
Sometimes we skip the five man burger and just have the milkshake 🤤
infectedsense@reddit
Absolutely, I grew up having a choccy bar or a couple of biccies after dinner every day, feels like something's missing if I don't!
Lately I'm trying to make it a yogurt or dried fruit though because chocolate every day has not done my waistline any favours 😓
verybadgay@reddit
Yes. Also after lunch. Yes I’m fat.
birdstrike_hazard@reddit
Sounds great! I may need to start incorporating a lunch one too. What do you tend to go for?
_hariarchy_@reddit
Yes! My post dinner sweet treat is my indulgence of the day. I am very open to trying new things but it’s usually one of them M&S cheesecakes that I have for 3-4 days. Now they’ve gotten so small tho, barely last two days :(
b0ubakiki@reddit
I'm a bit of a ponce, so I don't eat puddings but I have dark chocolate with a cup of earl grey after my tea. A bit like the queen or something.
KittyMilly@reddit
Yes and it is genuinely my motivation to wake up, get out of bed, leave the house, go to work etc. I am always excited for my sweet treat of the day.
Kind-Blackberry-6221@reddit

lbpkymjkk21011@reddit
Sir, I commend your desert options.
lilidragonfly@reddit
I don't but I don't have a sweet tooth, I only really like very dark chocolate as puddings go
timiny74@reddit
Yup some dark chocolate. Had a (small) Starbar the other day
CrazyPlatypusLady@reddit
Nearly every day. Never anything big. Although tonight dinner was huge (pizza and salad) so pudding was a beer that has been yelling at me from the fridge since yesterday.
ClarifyingMe@reddit
I love how you're asking if people have dessert mainly because you reminded me I wanted to have custard but I forgot and went to bed.
I've started chewing some gum but at least I haven't brushed my teeth...
Now I'm wondering if should just leave it for tomorrow. Oh I feel less thankful now as it's caused a conundrum. Anyway, it's the thought that counts.

BriennesBitch@reddit
No but it’s not for health, I’d much prefer a bit of cheese and a glass of wine.
I just don’t really like pudding.
Grew up in a household where it didn’t really exist. We ate what we needed to eat for dinner so mum didn’t think pudding was necessary (she was a bit judgemental of fat people in hindsight!
No_Candle2537@reddit
Not strictly after dinner, but I do have my fair share of sweet treats
Rosehiphedgerow@reddit
Aye. I basically eat pudding with every meal...
Spock_42@reddit
Not really, certainly not a "sit down at the table" pudding. Maybe a bit of chocolate or something if we have some in, or if we're making a fancier meal for a low-key occasion.
I'm not great at keeping off weight as it is, so pudding is applied sparingly.
CartoonistNo9@reddit
I rarely eat sweet treats. I almost never have a pudding. It’s partly taste and partly diet based.
Interesting_Space110@reddit
Not really…
I’m a fill up on vegetables type, as that’s how I was brought up.
If I’m peckish nearer bedtime, I may have a bowl of cereal, a protein bar or some Greek yogurt.
Having said that, I will never refuse desert if it is available! It’s just something I’ve never really had in the house or something I actively think to buy!
That_Organization901@reddit
I do because my partner always wants a bit of fruit and ice cream but won’t have any unless I have something too. She’s so lovely I can’t bear to deny her a little treat.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
This is adorable 🥹 and the secret to a happy relationship if you ask me!
LurkingWithStyle@reddit
Lunch and dinner both need a sweet treat imo.
Lunch is usually a small snack bar just to take the edge of, dinner is usually a couple squares of dark chocolate. If it's friday treat day this upgrades to a chocolate bar and / or some kind of chocolate dessert.
Kiki-sunflower@reddit
At work I have 2 fruit pastilles after my lunch does that count ?
Smilingtribute@reddit
Yes! I usually have puddings on Fridays to Sunday to treat myself that I have survived another week :)
IllSalad3669@reddit

uncle_monty@reddit
Usually fruit right after a meal. I make the effort to eat a piece of fruit 3 times a day. I do eat sweet snacks regularly, though. Chocolate or ice cream most often. But that's usually independent from the meal, so I guess doesn't really count as pudding.
AggressiveTarget929@reddit
I normally have a sweet treat before bed rather than right after dinner
jimmywhereareya@reddit
My dad will expect pudding after his tea in my house 5 days a week. When we occasionally go out for pub grub, he won't stretch for a pudding. Pisses me off immensely. The thing is, I (61 f) usually couldn't eat a dessert after eating a pub grub meal, but my dad being so cheap sometimes really fucking annoys me..

Beautiful_Spread7866@reddit
Also 30 and have an evening hot chocolate a few nights a week (with marshmallows) and a proper pudding like jam roll poly or STP or Ben and Jerrys once or twice a month. Also a regular squashie eater

yes, its normal. You have a sweet thing after your main course, even at home
RaspberryJammm@reddit
I gain weight very easily so only on special occasions (birthday, christmas etc)
Even if i eat pudding once a week I'd start gaining weight.
As a child we could have yoghurt or fruit after a meal but I guess you're not referring to that?
kittykat7931@reddit
Always need a little sweet treat - usually a yogurt. In the summer an ice cream or lolly and rarely do I not have a few squares of chocolate.
Wild-Currency-9065@reddit
I would like to daily, but I'm worried about potential cavities, despite regular brushing and flossing. People say I'm overthinking but the problem is, once the damage is done it's too late. So I figure best not to get in the habit.
I have a Kinder Bueno once a week with my evening cuppa, partner is even better and has sweets twice a year or so. Don't how he resists tbh

I’m a sweetaholic I’ve lost 180lbs due to an insane sweet addiction and massive meal portion sizes. I keep pigging out. Over the weekend I ate a full tub of rum n raisin ice cream and these chocolate corn snacks. It’s just because I’ve been unable to eat that stuff for over 2 years. I’m thinking mon to Thurs eating a calorie controlled diet so ‘puddings’ would be yoghurts, fruit, jelly or protein pudding. But Fri, Sat and Sun anything I want which will be ice cream or sour sweets lol. I miss school puddings
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
That’s amazing progress. Well done! The ‘all or nothing’ is so hard though 😭 I highly recommend doing 0% Greek yoghurt with some berries then 5-10 chocolate buttons broken up over the top. There’s only like 135 calories in the buttons and the rest is all healthy and low calorie! It’s helped me when I’ve been losing weight 🙏
RowRow1990@reddit
I'm sat eating cheesecake as I type. I do have something most nights.
corkireland99@reddit
Not since Angel Delight was all the rage
DaveL16@reddit
Butterscotch, obviously?
corkireland99@reddit
The only flavour I couldn’t stomach !
Jinx-Put-6043@reddit
I often make my children some kind of cooked pudding for after our evening meal. If I don’t make it they have something bought that is sweet.
ButterscotchTop194@reddit
Some do, yeah
newtonbase@reddit
I prefer to have a savoury taste in my mouth after a meal so only ever have dessert at a restaurant and that's almost always sorbet.
Confident-Cup-6453@reddit
Weirdly don't fancy it after dinner, not because I don't like sweet, just more of an afternoon slump snacker: a stroopwaffle, a line of choc, borbons, mini battenburg, that sort of thing
Thick_Suggestion_@reddit
Not often tbh. Every 6-8weeks maybe? If I have a sweet craving I usually go for frozen fruit, rn I love frozen clementines with a bit of lemon(I love sour) sometimes ill buy frozen berries and blend them with Greek yoghurt 😋
-myeyeshaveseenyou-@reddit
I’m a pastry chef so yes. Also I bake at the weekend with my kids most weeks as an activity to do together. My kids are pretty simple do it’s been cornflakes nests with smarty eggs and minion eggs for the last couple of weeks. Gingerbread, brownies, buns etc are all favourites as well with them. Have taught them how to make filled chocolates as well but that’s not a regular thing as it’s messy.
I do also buy treats as well, I have crunchies, Galaxy, Cadbury caramel and aero mousse in the house currently
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Your kids have the best parent!
-myeyeshaveseenyou-@reddit
This was the last bake pre Easter and cornflake nests.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Oh my GOD! That is unreal. I can literally TASTE it through the screen 😋😋
sakmentoloki@reddit
Rarely. I am not a big fan of sweet. Occasionally ill dabble in a cheese cake or some ice cream or something but usually not
AlucardVTep3s@reddit
Little bramley apple pie never hurt anyone😌don’t mind if I do or two
KingKhram@reddit
I usually have something sweet once a week and that's a bar of chocolate. I like the Tony's range at the moment
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Big fan of Tony’s! I had some of their little bits with some berries tonight 😋
KingKhram@reddit
I've not seen that one in the shops or maybe I'm just default looking for the caramel sea salt as that's my favourite. I'll do my best to get that berry one next time
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Ah sorry I meant I just had the chocolate with some blueberries on the side 🤦♀️ agreed that the caramel sea salt is the best!
resident_queerdo@reddit
Yes, it's usually yoghurt or cottage cheese mixed with cocoa powder and bananas. Talk about child's palate. 🙈
tumshy@reddit
Cottage cheese, cocoa powder and bananas??? I’m gagging at the thought.
resident_queerdo@reddit
It's really good! I figure if I have to have pudding, it might as well be healthy-ish.
PolarLocalCallingSvc@reddit
I'm seasonal about it!
In the colder months absolutely. Nothing better than a crumble or cake and custard after a day in -3°C hills.
In the summer I'm less inclined. I tend to switch to lighter meals in the hotter weather.
Little_st4r@reddit
We normally have an ice lolly after dinner in summer!
WeeBo2804@reddit
All my kids tend to have an ice lolly after tea, much more so in the warmer weather. Freezer is currently stocked. The Feasts, hidden on a different shelf are my own supply!
PolarLocalCallingSvc@reddit
That's fair I do occasionally do that but not nearly as often as I have a hearty pud in winter.
There's always ice cream or lollies in the freezer for when the bairns come round though. They'll have one every time :)
mypostisbad@reddit
Grew out of it.
Then had kids and kids can be fussy eaters, so now we have them again, with the old "if you don't eat your dinner, you don't get desert" mantra
Naive-Interaction567@reddit
Generally no. My kids have fruit after every meal. My husband doesn’t have sugar so we’re very out of the habit of having sweet stuff.
Wishmaster891@reddit
no sugar at all?
Naive-Interaction567@reddit
He has fruit and small amounts of alcohol but otherwise almost none. He has a chocolate bar once a year on his birthday and he has Christmas pudding on Christmas Day. He looks amazing and he’s very happy so I’m supportive.
shortercrust@reddit
Pretty much every day. Often more than once a day. I love making pies, crumbles, custards, cakes, jellies, ice creams. The other day I had four puddings. But trying to lose a bit of weight at the mo so sadly no pud for a couple of weeks.
IHateTheLetter-C-@reddit
Just finished the tidy up from dinner and I'm wondering what's for pudding. I'm a bit full though so tonight might be a night I miss, I do have a box of strawberries in the fridge ready and waiting for me though! I often buy a dessert in the weekly shop, maybe two if something else appeals, but strawberries or yoghurt sometimes hit the spot. I often sit down with some bourbons to nibble on if I don't have "proper pudding" in, so I'd say 5-6 days a week I have some form of sweet treat (not sure if "healthy pudding" like fruit qualifies as that but I'm going with it)
Euphoric_Rough_5245@reddit
It takes me all my time to eat my main course let alone have a pudding. Plus anything sweet makes me feel sick, just the smell can make me gag. However on the rare occasion like maybe once every few years I want something sweet I do like a bit of malt loaf with butter on. Rice pudding is also another favourite but not a real creamy version.
YouCantArgueWithThis@reddit
Sometimes I eat only pudding all day.
But I have issues...
Fit-Bedroom-7645@reddit
How can you have your pudding if you haven't eaten your meat??!!
DaveL16@reddit
All in all….
jungleddd@reddit
Yes. I love to finish the day with something sweet. My partner does not approve. I don’t care.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
👏 your partner should come to the dark side
Little_st4r@reddit
Yes! Normally one of those Mr killing lemon slices or bakewell slices!
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Ohhh good shout
badger906@reddit
If I go to my mum and dads (which I do regularly) yeah! My mum always makes puddings. Me at my place… not so much. My gf is super fussy with food, like ridiculously! And I’m a foodie, and it has knocked my passion for food and cooking a fair bit. So we’re just in the habit of things she likes. By pudding I mean proper English grub. Not chocolate lol.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Ah that’s really sweet. I get you on the fussiness - my husband loves seafood but I can’t stand it so sadly for him he barely eats it (unless we’re out at restaurants)! It’s a hard balance! And yeah I used pudding as a general term for all sweet treats 😅
GoodJobSanchez@reddit
Yeah most nights. I'm into jelly at the moment. Finished the blackcurrant one yesterday, made a lime one today.
AromaticVacation3077@reddit
Yes. I get uncontrollable sweet cravings about 20 minutes after dinner. I do sometimes make a pudding - ice cream, sponge pudding, a tart or whatever, but it tends to be at the weekend. We quite often have a loaf cake on the go, like at the moment it's banana bread. If there's nothing else I find myself attacking the chocolate button jar which is kept on the baking shelf because honestly they're for baking honest they are.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Hahahaha I’ve been there 😂
bahumat42@reddit
More than I should.
If I'm being good its only 1/2 times a week. If I'm bad it's most days.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
It’s not ‘bad’, be kind to yourself 🙏there’s way worse things you could be doing than enjoying a lil sweet treat
TheTruthIsOutThere_x@reddit
Oh course, always have a little something sweet after tea.
originalwombat@reddit
No but I’m not really a sweet tooth. I was very confused when my niece asked me ‘what’s for pudding’ on a random day
Immediate-Ad827@reddit
Same, it's a bit of a compulsion tbh...I used to have chocolate every time, mostly dark chocolate (more satisfying) but switched to fruit n kefir yoghurt as gained a few poundage!
hallerz87@reddit
Not an actual pudding but well usually have some chocolate or sweets out when watching tv afterwards
TimeTimeClock@reddit
No. I grew up with fruit after dinner and I'm too disorganised to always have fruit/time to cut up and eat fruit before bed. I also don't really have a sweet tooth.
Radiant_Office6445@reddit
I totally get this erm... "unfinished" sensation after a proper meal. Like the meal is missing its literal cherry on top. It fuels a part of me in ways that are hard to describe.
[I used to really really focus on this thing where if I brushed against something with my right side then I would have to go twice with the left then another right then both together twice. Like RLLRBB, I didn't know how to describe them in my mind as a kid but called them "fairs". Because it felt like I was being fair to each side that touched...
but it would spread to having to start them opposite way, but twice... Becoming
RLLRBB LRRLBB LRRLBB RLLRBB...
So then if I could either do it properly or discreetly if there were folk around then I just knew not to outwardly do it, but keeping it from resolving and getting to be a full Fair just made me feel so much calmer and safer.]
But so the sweet after a meal is like a full stop on the end of a sentence, but through your taste, smell and feel of the food. It helps sink into the calorie rush too I think, I don't really drink caffeine anymore, but a coffee after dinner would wake me up, like usually if I had to get home before I could sleep etc.
Radiant_Office6445@reddit
But from this, I cannot have sweet stuff before savoury. So I won't be able to have anything sweet til like the evening, after main meal. If I'm heading to bed I can just about ignore it, but then again even the toothpaste can substitute for the sweetness most nights I guess.
AvoriazInSummer@reddit
I'll have dessert after lunch and dinner. Might be pudding, or a pastry, cake, ice cream etc. It'll definitely be sweet.
AttersH@reddit
Yep, I have a small pudding daily after tea, usually a mini roll or similar cake bar type thing..! After lunch, usually Greek yog & fruit plus a couple biscuits!
On a weekend, I may splash out on a full pudding or chocolate bar, life is too short not too!
Katharinemaddison@reddit
Not after dinner, I don’t have a desert stomach.
But I eat a late breakfast and often have a little snack like that in the afternoon rather than lunch.
Apprehensive-Top3675@reddit
Yes
ClassicFriendly1015@reddit
29yo - yes
Working-Arm-6896@reddit
Yes, I am originally AngloAustrian. I love me some crumble and custard and make it every few weeks when I have too many apples. I also bought some suet recently for the first time in decades and plan to make a suet pud when my brother comes to visit, with custard of course!
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Oooh crumble and custard is such a winner 😍
Happily-Incorrect@reddit
Bit of chocolate or something yeah. Especially when I'm knackered and have put my daughter to bed. Bit of me time is kinda nice. I'm trying to cut down though, so now I only let myself do it every other day.
Ok-Direction-8257@reddit
Yes indeed. Otherwise what's the point?
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Hahaha I like your thinking 👏
Flying_worms@reddit
My husband and I love the Moser Roth chocolate bars from Aldi. They are the perfect size for an after dinner treat!
Classic_Mammoth_9379@reddit
Sadly yes, always crave somethign sweet after a meal.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
Nothing sad about it in my book 😋
DiscoDoberman@reddit
I try not to.
But at the moment, yes I have something every day.
I try to stick within the RDA for free sugars but I'm failing, been a tough few weeks.
KirrinD@reddit (OP)
If a bit of a sweet treat helps you get through some tough times, do it, you deserve it! I’ve found that pairing a bit of chocolate with some blueberries and raspberries helps me still get the fix without eating the whole bar! Hope you’re okay 🙏
Zealousideal-Low3388@reddit
If I’m out for dinner, probably.
At home, no.
anotherbusybee@reddit
I'm not a regular pudding person after dinner - but cake / biscuits and coffee mid morning or mid afternoon is my little sweet treat time.
NotoriousP_U_G@reddit
Probably not even once a month I will have some sweet treats, but almost never a pudding after dinner
DiskBytes@reddit
I eat black pudding.
eyesonly456@reddit
Yeah daily , life's for living
VolcanicBear@reddit
My wife normally does, yeah.
I just don't care about sweet things if I'm not stoned personally.
znv142@reddit
I personally don't but I just never had a sweet tooth since I was a child.
