IT has been good to me folks. I can collect social security in September and I plan too. The sweat gig I have now will need to replace me. Small company based in North East Florida. Its Orange Park, FL, but very close to and sometimes considered Jacksonville.
The network is all setup and working as expected as well as documented with OpenDCIM. I currently work 18 hours a week. Tue, Wed, THurs, 9-3 pm. I am the sole IT person, but in addition to IT work I volenteer to do other Non-IT tasks. I will sweep the floors before I leave on Thursday simply because they need it. I have changed the fan on an outside condenser because it needed it. I have replaced the inside of a toilet because they were leaking water.
Its a team effort here and everyone expected to be part of the team and not create unnecessary friction. Everyone gets along.
The setup: 2 production servers running VM's that cross replicate to the other production server. This is not automatic failover, so if something goes wrong you will be expected to fire up the replicated vm manually. Two different versions of QB VM's, two different versions of line of business application (old and production). Veeam community edition (they say forever free) for backup. Usb Drives for disconnected backups (needs swapping once a week).
Everything is working rock solid. You would not be inheriting a nightmare. If your good at your work then this would be a walk in the park.
Perfect person would live close by as this is not a remote position. It is on site. Someone like me that is close to retirement and wants away from big corporate, or a solo IT person that needs more work but can dedicate 18 hours a week onsite. I am sure many more possible people could make it work, but I am telling you its a good gig for the right person.

Since you’re older just a reminder, 6 figures now was 60k in 2005. I always said I would make 6 figures when I was a kid. I do. But it’s not what it was, and I don’t make 2005s 100k equivalent yet..

I made better than 60k back in 2000. As I have said many times here, IT been good to me. I was IT before the term IT was created and before it was cool to be IT. I started my career in mid-80's. I lived the time before everyone had a PC at home. I helped fill those homes with PC's.

Been there done that and not doing it again. MSP joke. A solo IT person is perfect. I've handled this network off / on mostly on for 35 years. I've pawned it off twice to MSP and they just invoice cray cray.

Owner sent last MSP email complaining about issues not getting resolved. MSP called a meeting with 8 people and invoice 8 hours for having a meeing about email. I shit you not.

OP I feel like you’re getting a bunch of hate, but this would be an IDEAL gig for someone wanting to nearly retire but still feel useful and have a bit of income. I hope I can find a deal like this when I get to that point.

Sounds like a solid setup - especially for a single-person environment.
One thing I’ve seen in similar setups: even when everything is stable, the main risk is having all operational knowledge tied to one person (backups, VM recovery, manual failover, etc.).
Do you already have any kind of external backup/support in case something goes wrong while the new person is still ramping up?
I sometimes help teams cover that gap or document/review setups to make sure nothing critical is missed.

Interview a few msp they will keep that running without a breaking a sweat, plus probably add lacking security and a bdr device for real world backup, that could eliminate the need for a failover server. Unless this pays good money or someone wants a pet project it's a retired person's number game for hours.

OP said its a sweat gig not a sweet one. The IT stuff can be done remotely in 2-3 hours a week the other min wage stuff is to sweep the floor make the coffee fill the dumpster and rub the owners feet/back when needed,
OP no serious IT worker is going to work 18 hours a week for you they already have a real job during prime time hours.
