Not to be le wholesome redditor but alcohol is significantly worse for you than weed in almost every metric. That’s not to say weed is amazing and has no side effects but alcohol in general is worse for your body than most illegal drugs.
I've had the literal opposite experience working as a psych nurse in the ER, far more common to see decompensation from alcohol or meth. Plus there is literally almost nothing worse than a drunk patient with BPD
With weed I've only seen it a handful of times in young men/women predisposed to schizophrenia having their first psychotic break. Plus they don't try to assault me and destroy the ER like drunks do
Your experience is an anomaly and isn’t reflective of the stats then. You can read the literature, there are hundreds of thousands of cases per year of ER admissions pertaining to cannabis related psychosis.
Also not sure how you know when patients has BPD, that isn’t generally included in medical charts. I also find it odd you find decompensation common working as an ER nurse, That’s something observed with doctors or nurses in long term care.
you're the one who said ask an ER nurse lol. You can just say you hate weed dude.
I'm not gonna have a le reddit argument about why your entire second paragraph is wrong and cringe but it is and you should be embarrassed
Alcohol has more or less the same rate of psychosis after heavy use. It’s just not something people talk about because the crazy drunk is socially accepted to some degree. But ARP is very much a thing: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK459134/ and so is alcohol induced dementia, after all alcohol physically damages the brain.
Alcohol is worse for you the problem is that we overcorrected in our societal approach to weed. At the end of the day a wake and bake is socially as bad someone taking a shot of whiskey as soon as they wake up and should be shamed as such
What definition of narcotic are you operating on to make that statement? Lmao by any definition of narcotic that found, alcohol would also be in that group. Comparing alcohol to weed by virtually every metric alcohol is objectively worse for people.
I think a lot of it is just due to alcohol and nicotine getting the legal pass cause of Nixon who hated hippies and blacks. This would never have been a big deal if it wasn't for drunks.
I will 100% guarantee you that in 20 years, there's going to be a lot more data on the long term health effects of weed, especially the modern strains that will inevitably be GMO'd to hell and back.
There's already stuff coming out about negative cardiovascular health, but that could be just from laying around and eating while stoned. Then there's the psychosis that some people get.
Cannabis Hyper Emesis Syndrome. It typically only affects chronic long-term users, but there are a lot of those now-a-days. The only real treatment is total abstinence. You can see how addictive weed is for some people when they would risk weeks of nausea and vomiting to go back to smoking.
True, but there was another similar study published in the last year or so that found while smoking cannabis conferred the worst outcomes, edibles negated not all but most of the increased risk
I misread the summary that said “Using cannabis – either by smoking, eating or vaping it – may raise the risk for heart attacks and strokes, new research suggests.”?
Naturally smoking anything will confer its own inherent cardiovascular risk. Whatever “negates most of the risk” is a meaningless statement unless you provide numbers.
Ah, you didn't read the actual study. Go ahead and read the study that that article is discussing https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/JAHA.123.030178 , the study does not differentiate between cannabis administration routes. They do not provide any evidence to support the idea that eating cannabis is just as bad as smoking it because they lumped all ROAs together.
The worst part about tobacco though is the polonium that accumulates in the leaves. That’s what causes a significant amount of the cancer in smokers.
Other plants also accumulate it, but not nearly as much. Tobacco is just a nasty plant in general, and the ways in which they process it in North America are nasty too. Combine all of that with the fact that most people smoke it to consume it; smoking tobacco is pretty damn bad. Even compared to smoking other plants.
Marijuana of course has plenty of carcinogens, and plenty of other downsides, but it doesn’t accumulate polonium nearly as much as tobacco and it’s far more likely to be consumed in a way that doesn’t require combustion.
It’s been a while since I smoked and thus a while since I looked into it but I also thought the additives in tobacco (at least most cigarettes) can be as bad for the body as the tobacco itself so it’s double the carcinogens.
They are pretty bad but I think most of the additives (like the sugar) are more addictive than carcinogenic. At least that’s the vibe I got last time I researched it lol. It’s been a while for me as well, admittedly.
This is only one study but it looks like the levels are about the same in organic vs non-organic tobacco. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s other factors beyond carcinogens that play a role but that’s beyond my pay grade.
also I just gotta say that your username is 10/10 lol
Yeah, big business is generally awful at everything they do except crush competitors and accumulate profits. Yet one of the worst stories involves an attempt to replace gas-fired curing rooms with a solar method of curing tobacco after harvest. The solar facilities were only a little more expensive than gas, and their operating cost was lower since they needed no fuel. The result produced cigarettes that were not healthy, but were significantly lower in carbon monoxide output as well as some undesirable trace elements. Rather than buy out this technology, then roll it out as the next generation of their own facilities; major players in the tobacco industry conspired to discredit it, then buy out the patents and bury them. Not only was our "free market" unable to give these somewhat less toxic cigarettes a fair shot with consumers, but powerful executives rejected the very idea of switching from gas to solar in the process of curing tobacco.
It also damages your sperms (genetic) quality, apparently some of the damage can be undone after like 6 months of no smoking but I don't know if it ever goes back to 100%.
Okay you blithering retard, how about I give a good example;
Corporatization of wheat production since the end of WWII has lead to to extreme declines in the nutritional value of our bread products. One of the main culprits is that the wheat was bred to grow faster, give higher yields, and be more resistant to disease. But the shorter growing periods and the greater tax on the soil have produced wheat that has far fewer minerals. As a result, American wheat products are less satiating and nutritious. It's just a wad of calories that makes you hungry again in a few hours and a massive contributor to US obesity.
There is litterally 0 doubt in my mind that if the full federal legalization of weed takes place, this exactly what will happen with it. Corporate industrial farms will produce cheaper weed that you need to smoke more of without any regard to possible adverse health effects.
Hey genius let me explain to you how you’re fucking stupid and have no idea what you are talking about.
No genetically modified wheat is grown commercially in the United States. So your entire argument falls apart right there. You have no idea what you are saying and are butthurt at GMOs for no reason.
Ok, I mildly misused an acronym. Breeding is still manipulating genetics. My central point still stands. The large scale commercial trade will inevitably lead to the enshittification of the product through breeding techniques that dilute quality.
If you consider selective breeding as manipulating genetics, than everything, from plant to meat, is a “GMO”.
You remember that my entire point was that Redditors complain about GMOs being bad while completely having no idea what they are right?
I don’t really give a shit about you opinion on weed. I wanted to emphasize that Redditors complain about GMOs while having no understanding of them. I hope you’ve at least learned that.
The rampant anti-intellectualism being promoted by the anti-GMO crowd with no scientific backing some dipshit RFK Trump tier shit.
It's crazy right? It's one of the coolest technologies around but learning about it would take time and brainpower. GMO weed is like last of my worries. We already genetically modified it through normal breeding to make it strong as fuck (too strong for my taste most of the time tbh).
It should come as no surprise that smoking plants with strong psychoactive properties is harmful for your brain (and lungs). Just talk to your average stoner and you’ll see the obvious damage. It’s just that academia is so strongly in support of weed that you’ll never see anyone dare speak out against its use your publish studies strongly condemning it. Similar to veganism and gender changes for children, all the studies always unsurprisingly conclude there is no harm.
I think what the majority of people get upset about is that alcohol is objectively worse for you in every way than marijuana, but you can have your life ruined over a dab pen.
No shit anything that has to be combusted will cause harm to your lungs, but why police bud?
You can’t overdose on weed, so in terms of negative publications, it’s a bit difficult to get what you’re looking for.
The publications you’re referencing focus on the acute affects, because (surprise) it takes forever to run a long term clinical study and even harder to account for the litany of outside factors.
Most of the people that get cooked by smoking marijuana are weak as fuck anyways, but I’d rather deal with a stoner than a drunk.
Why worry about what others do when it has no actual bearing on you?
Nobody is gonna tell you its not harmful to drink a can of beer as you wake up, another before breakfast, after breakfast, before school, during school, after lunch, after school, before work, during work, after work, before dinner, after dinner, and before bedtime.
But they will say someone smoking that much weed is harmless and not addicted.
Any person that cannot function without the habit is an addict - period. Same person is also probably spitting up black shit in the morning and won’t make the connection.
But if people want to ruin their life and be a bum, it’s not because of the weed, it’s because the individual is non-driven.
But the guy saying “academia” is willfully ignorant of the dangers of smoking marijuana and then putting it in the same tier as veganism/gender changes was just too dumb to not respond.
The guy saying “academia” is willfully ignorant of the dangers of smoking marijuana and then putting it in the same tier as veganism/gender changes was just too dumb to not respond.
It's literal dumb regurgitated /pol/chud bullshit. I went to one of the most liberal universities in New England for horticulture and within the Ag department was plenty of students and professors who were both pro-legalization AND pro-moderation. The people who give boilerplate retarded writeups about "academia" betray the fact they have never engaged with people who are actually in academia and not just blue haired community college twitter users.
My undergrad is literally in biology (focused on genetics) with a minor in chemistry and a STEM MBA lol
I guarantee you’re ignorant on most scientific topics or else you wouldn’t be so brazenly ignorant
I can see the dog whistle for your Christ-centric republicanism, so I won’t judge you for being misinformed. It’s just the way you were raised unfortunately.
Why do leftists assume someone is republican off one opinion? Can't someone believe that weed smokers are degenerates while also believing that republicans are morons?
This would be hurtful if I cared about academia, thankfully I’m in sales to make actual money.
But I’d rather credential myself so I don’t have to go through explaining the basics when it comes to epidemiological studies when talking to randoms on a 4chan subreddit lol
I wipe my ass with your degree, college boy. Unless you're directly engaged in scientiffic studies on the matter, your credentials mean as much as a forklift certification.
Well it certainly doesn't help that for decades marijuana was villified as a drug worse than heroin all while something like alcohol is acceptable. The pendulum swing was inevitable because people speaking out about it now are written off. Iionically all my druggie stoner friends from highschool are some of the biggest advocates for moderation. Because we know how fucking awful it is to go through the day in a retarded brain fog.
I like ripping a bong once in a while with my friends, but we have jobs and families to take care of lol.
We have known that smoking combustibles is bad for you for almost a hundred years, it doesnt matter if youre smoking tobacco, weed, meth, etc, etc, etc. I 100% guarantee the sun will come up tomorrow, now give me my upvotes guys!
unironically, yes. when the baseline cigs are tripling your risk of heart attack/stroke, the only direction is up. Thats three times more likely sudden cardiac death. They made a movie about it, constantine
Tobacco has had hundreds of years of medical research. Naturally we have conclusive data on the specific numbers regarding its health detriments, while vaping is extremely novel in terms of medical research.
No, the only direction isn’t up. It’s completely up in the air. Which is why it’s absolutely regarded to buy into propaganda by cigarette companies like Phillip Morris who have shifted their marketing strategy to pushing alternative forms of nicotine like vaping.
Until sufficient time has passed to determine the specifics, try using your brain to figure out inhaling Chinese juice heated at 400 degrees in a metal or plastic box is awful for you
> be me
> walk down alleyway while vaping
*noise*
> turn around
> femboys on one side
> bears on the other
> their cocks are out and ready to go
*hits vape*
Aww shit, gonna need another cartridge for this one, boys.
Seeing a lot of comments saying weed is bad, is it actually? Like if you only do edibles then you remove what I understand to be the worst part: inhaling super heated air full of ash/oil. I'm not entirely convinced the whole "ruins your motivation" thing is a real argument, it's more of a vibes based stereotype. I think lazy people will always be lazy and weed just makes their lives more tolerable.
He can import whatever he pleases. Anon acts like there is an iron curtain on the border of this state, but the only one is in his mind, since he fundamentally condones all the laws by choosing to follow them.
The fuck you can buy vape juice. I just did it like a week ago. Stores still sell it by itself, and you can buy disposables. You can even buy flavored ones on online retailers.
The retailer just ships it to a repackager who completes the delivery.

DonnieMoistX@reddit
Hey genius let me explain to you how you’re fucking stupid and have no idea what you are talking about.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetically_modified_wheat
https://www.anfponline.org/docs/default-source/legacy-docs/docs/ce-articles/nc032020.pdf
https://www.idahowheat.org/articles/lets-talk-about-gmos
So are you going to admit you’re wrong and had no fucking clue what you were talking about the moment you started typing?
You know fuck all about GMOs and honestly I doubt you could even tell me what they are.
Goonlord_005@reddit
Ok, I mildly misused an acronym. Breeding is still manipulating genetics. My central point still stands. The large scale commercial trade will inevitably lead to the enshittification of the product through breeding techniques that dilute quality.
DonnieMoistX@reddit
If you consider selective breeding as manipulating genetics, than everything, from plant to meat, is a “GMO”.
You remember that my entire point was that Redditors complain about GMOs being bad while completely having no idea what they are right?
I don’t really give a shit about you opinion on weed. I wanted to emphasize that Redditors complain about GMOs while having no understanding of them. I hope you’ve at least learned that.
The rampant anti-intellectualism being promoted by the anti-GMO crowd with no scientific backing some dipshit RFK Trump tier shit.
Round_Bullfrog_8218@reddit
People been getting heavier since 1900 and alternative to wheat modification is basically billions of people starving
Goonlord_005@reddit
Ok. And?
Round_Bullfrog_8218@reddit
And weeds case because they push the THC content up to like a bazillion way more than would naturally contain.
I'm pretty sure weeds only been genetically modified the old-fashioned way though
aure__entuluva@reddit
It's crazy right? It's one of the coolest technologies around but learning about it would take time and brainpower. GMO weed is like last of my worries. We already genetically modified it through normal breeding to make it strong as fuck (too strong for my taste most of the time tbh).
Critical_Coast_7685@reddit
It should come as no surprise that smoking plants with strong psychoactive properties is harmful for your brain (and lungs). Just talk to your average stoner and you’ll see the obvious damage. It’s just that academia is so strongly in support of weed that you’ll never see anyone dare speak out against its use your publish studies strongly condemning it. Similar to veganism and gender changes for children, all the studies always unsurprisingly conclude there is no harm.
LookAwayPuhlease@reddit
Spell-lose-correctly@reddit
All studies on pot are done with a 3% strain. Not at all comparable to today’s doses
NOChiRo@reddit
Nobody is gonna tell you its not harmful to drink a can of beer as you wake up, another before breakfast, after breakfast, before school, during school, after lunch, after school, before work, during work, after work, before dinner, after dinner, and before bedtime.
But they will say someone smoking that much weed is harmless and not addicted.
aure__entuluva@reddit
Most weed smokers over the age of 28 realize smoking all day all the time is a bad thing.
LookAwayPuhlease@reddit
Someone that says that is retarded lol
Any person that cannot function without the habit is an addict - period. Same person is also probably spitting up black shit in the morning and won’t make the connection.
But if people want to ruin their life and be a bum, it’s not because of the weed, it’s because the individual is non-driven.
But the guy saying “academia” is willfully ignorant of the dangers of smoking marijuana and then putting it in the same tier as veganism/gender changes was just too dumb to not respond.
havoc1428@reddit
It's literal dumb regurgitated /pol/chud bullshit. I went to one of the most liberal universities in New England for horticulture and within the Ag department was plenty of students and professors who were both pro-legalization AND pro-moderation. The people who give boilerplate retarded writeups about "academia" betray the fact they have never engaged with people who are actually in academia and not just blue haired community college twitter users.
Critical_Coast_7685@reddit
Exhibit A ☝🏻
LookAwayPuhlease@reddit
My undergrad is literally in biology (focused on genetics) with a minor in chemistry and a STEM MBA lol
I guarantee you’re ignorant on most scientific topics or else you wouldn’t be so brazenly ignorant
I can see the dog whistle for your Christ-centric republicanism, so I won’t judge you for being misinformed. It’s just the way you were raised unfortunately.
leastemployableman@reddit
Why do leftists assume someone is republican off one opinion? Can't someone believe that weed smokers are degenerates while also believing that republicans are morons?
Deathgripsugar@reddit
The first part is an insecure academic rattling off their credentials.
The second part is b8.
LookAwayPuhlease@reddit
This would be hurtful if I cared about academia, thankfully I’m in sales to make actual money.
But I’d rather credential myself so I don’t have to go through explaining the basics when it comes to epidemiological studies when talking to randoms on a 4chan subreddit lol
Goonlord_005@reddit
I wipe my ass with your degree, college boy. Unless you're directly engaged in scientiffic studies on the matter, your credentials mean as much as a forklift certification.
dxfifa@reddit
The average 4chan user is more brain impaired than the average stoner
havoc1428@reddit
Well it certainly doesn't help that for decades marijuana was villified as a drug worse than heroin all while something like alcohol is acceptable. The pendulum swing was inevitable because people speaking out about it now are written off. Iionically all my druggie stoner friends from highschool are some of the biggest advocates for moderation. Because we know how fucking awful it is to go through the day in a retarded brain fog.
I like ripping a bong once in a while with my friends, but we have jobs and families to take care of lol.
Total_Network6312@reddit
Thank you for confirming I am better than the average stoner
Kief_Bowl@reddit
All the studies are not in favour of veganism and gender changes.
bigburt-@reddit
I personally get really ill when stopping vaping weed carts
oislal@reddit
There is nothing inherently wrong with GMO
LateNightDoober@reddit
We have known that smoking combustibles is bad for you for almost a hundred years, it doesnt matter if youre smoking tobacco, weed, meth, etc, etc, etc. I 100% guarantee the sun will come up tomorrow, now give me my upvotes guys!
ngakang@reddit
Just 2 more weeks. The schizo COVID die off didn't happen, and the NEETs never claimed their virgin pure blood waifu, so they moved onto weed.
johnkubiak@reddit
Calling weed the herbal jew is HP Lovecraft behavior.
DonnieMoistX@reddit
I can’t emphasize how gay vaping is.
You would be less gay to chug dick than to vape.
sentientfartcloud@reddit
Last time I vaped, I woke up with 37 dicks in my ass
philmarcracken@reddit
it was developed as a quit method for cigs. you're a real hero
Acceptable-Bed-1612@reddit
Quitting cigarettes to vape is like quitting whiskey to drink bourbon
snmnky9490@reddit
This comparison doesn't make any sense because the second is a subtype of the first, and is more like saying you're quitting beer to drink pale ales
Acceptable-Bed-1612@reddit
Sorry, I’m not an alcoholic. I’m sure if you think hard enough you can make sense of what I was getting at though.
philmarcracken@reddit
what makes you say that. vaping isn't burning tobacco + tar shit on your lungs
Acceptable-Bed-1612@reddit
Yeah it’s just inhaling metal shavings and bubblegum flavored juice made in a Chinese laboratory, much better
philmarcracken@reddit
unironically, yes. when the baseline cigs are tripling your risk of heart attack/stroke, the only direction is up. Thats three times more likely sudden cardiac death. They made a movie about it, constantine
Acceptable-Bed-1612@reddit
Tobacco has had hundreds of years of medical research. Naturally we have conclusive data on the specific numbers regarding its health detriments, while vaping is extremely novel in terms of medical research.
No, the only direction isn’t up. It’s completely up in the air. Which is why it’s absolutely regarded to buy into propaganda by cigarette companies like Phillip Morris who have shifted their marketing strategy to pushing alternative forms of nicotine like vaping.
Until sufficient time has passed to determine the specifics, try using your brain to figure out inhaling Chinese juice heated at 400 degrees in a metal or plastic box is awful for you
mischling2543@reddit
Most vapers start with vapes and never progresss to cigarettes
DonnieMoistX@reddit
Sounds like you’re upset about being called out
Slide-Maleficent@reddit
Aww shit, gonna need another cartridge for this one, boys.
DreamsServedSoft@reddit
vape, weed, cigarettes, cigar and pipe, it’s all a sign you’re from the dredges of society and shouldn’t be taken seriously
MechwolfMachina@reddit
Just Don’t do drugs kids. Oh and It all starts with getting your heart broken by some roastie in college
Elonine@reddit
In Maryland it's nearly impossible to buy flavored vape juice... unless it has THC in it, then it's remarkably easy.
Zesty-Lem0n@reddit
Seeing a lot of comments saying weed is bad, is it actually? Like if you only do edibles then you remove what I understand to be the worst part: inhaling super heated air full of ash/oil. I'm not entirely convinced the whole "ruins your motivation" thing is a real argument, it's more of a vibes based stereotype. I think lazy people will always be lazy and weed just makes their lives more tolerable.
watdo123123@reddit
You'll get mixed opinions.
Lots of hypocrites on both sides.
The truth is that weed is way better than alcohol, but the drunks are too hypocritical to admit it
Valuable-Chipmunk784@reddit
Why are lefties like this?

You can order vape juice online, and its readily available at stores in california

Lol even
strife696@reddit
The fuck you can buy vape juice. I just did it like a week ago. Stores still sell it by itself, and you can buy disposables. You can even buy flavored ones on online retailers.
The retailer just ships it to a repackager who completes the delivery.
