Does your dispatch RANDOMLY YELL LIKE MINE?!

It’s funny how they always randomly do caps lock. So serious and somber, then, I AM YELLING FOR NO REASON!!!! Gotta find something to laugh at in times like these, right?
Just_A_Random_Crow@reddit
My condolences but I'm glad they could make you laugh and aren't being heartless about this situation.

Thank you. That’s the reason I got my new dispatcher. Had an old head before her. I asked him what SOP is for this situation, he only said his parents died while he was driving and to basically suck it up. Got tired of his shit and swapped to her. Much better life now, she mostly leaves me alone.

Which fm? I have Jordan h, great dude. Million mile driver who sold his truck to work the office
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
Tony S. Real piece of shit, so I don’t care dropping his name. I’m gatekeeping my new manager though, she’s awesome. Wanted Cooper, but he’s apparently booked.
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
Cooper is booked for like years. Mines a hidden gem. Slowly convincing him that I’m buying my truck. He was able to get me a 13spd. Hopefully in the next 6 months or so I’ll be able to buy it cash. Wife and I saving
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
Who do y'all work for? They sound good
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
I work for TMC, I get 32% of the load. He works for melton, I think he gets CPM
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
Booooo, quit outing me, but yeah. Starts at 52, scheduled raises at 6 mo, year, year, year, etc. 1.5 year at 58
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
Pretty much all loads are atleast $2/m including bounce miles, which puts me at about .60-.65cpm avg. just did a $1050 load that was 124 miles total(pickup in German town WI, drop in Chicago). If I were cpm I would have cried dude.
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
I only got 40 something k last year. I am crying, though I won’t deny my privilege. I only pay one bill, so I am able to suck it up for a while for the XP. My folks are moving to the mountains in a few weeks though, so I’m hoping to find something local up there that hopefully pays the same or better so I can sleep in a bed that doesn’t move.
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
Dude I’m happy with TMC, no plans to move. Working with my FM so I can O/O for them. Wife and 2 kids and home, a third on the way. I’m actually home empty so I get to leave Monday morning instead of Sunday night so that’s sweet. No debts except our mortgage(4bd on 6ac) so we are getting a good savings account built up too
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
Oh nice, didn’t know they had an O/O side. Might be worth looking into if nothing in the mountains works out, there’s always a Home Depot somewhere that needs their warpy boards lmao
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
13??? I was able to convince Dustin or w/e in the southeastern terminal to give me a 10spd Pete that a MM abandoned when I was two weeks out of the trainer truck. I loved that thing, but they had me take it back to the main terminal on my fucking birthday. Some present that was, getting put in an auto… at least it’s a K Dub. I will never drive a Cascadia after having to deal with the one I trained in.
LongjumpingCat6642@reddit
I think we may work at different companies that use damn near the same app… im at TMC
kniveshu@reddit
Do they work with containers and such that have numbers with capital letters?
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
No, we’re flatbed and I can’t say I’ve ever seen us haul a connex either
BDS_707@reddit
My grandparents had died while I was at work too. I texted my boss and and said I’d finish out the day cuz I didn’t want to leave anyone hanging. My boss called me immediately and told me to go home that it was fine. I refused and then he told me if I didn’t go home, he’d come and take over himself forcing me to go home.
BadamPshh@reddit
They would do this in reefer and I would say OK 10-4 COPY AFFIRMATIVE THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Bit more civil on the tanker side which I appreciate bc it always made me uneasy.
Some automated messages do still come in caps lock. Some people believe it's easier to read, which has been disproven but some people are dumb
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
My dispatcher does this, I assume it's due to the blind old dudes on his board.
You know, the ones that have their own snell chart to study before their dot physicals
Itchavi@reddit
An older dispatcher typed that didn't they? Our old systems used to use ALL CAPS so the old guys type everything with caps lock on and it's not a big enough problem to correct them every time.
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
Nah, I think the system’s just fucky like that. My new dispatcher is late 30s or 40s and I doubt she types like that on purpose, especially after sending a normal message
Ranger7381@reddit
Probably more along the lines of something she was entering in another program needed caps, then she switched back over without turning them off

Our last system translated everything to all caps and it was pretty funny sometimes.
grumpus_ryche@reddit
CAPS LOCK, FUCK YEAH
Waisted-Desert@reddit
Get with the times man, like, all caps isn't yelling any more.

nekaiser@reddit (OP)
Damn, I guess I’m just a 22 yo unc, then. Back in my day, it just meant yelling ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Waisted-Desert@reddit
But using a period in a text means you're mad upset or being aggressive It's the easiest way to send a gen z to their safe space or therapist
nekaiser@reddit (OP)
Those people confuse me, breaking down at the sight of a period or a comment without /s or /j.
Momma always said I was an old soul when I was a kid. Guess she was right.

In my experience with the dispatch software I use, it auto capitalizes everything when you push it to the driver. It annoyed me but there was nothing we could do
Riyeko@reddit
I was working for a company for only a month when my youngest brother lost his battle with his own demons.
I got the news and couldn't drive. I was picking up a load.
Not only did the company give me that full day to organize myself (they switched me out with another driver), they also got me home two days before I requested.
