My bud has a mc9 mete that has the failure to feed issue or return to battery issues, already jeopardizing my thoughts on wanting to buy one of these, but it looks like it's too hard to pass up..
Do these have similar issues out the box? I have CZ P10C that had failure to feed, but that remedied maybe after 200rounds. I'm just hoping not having to modify a firearm out to box.

I’ve run my TP9SFx in USPSA and Steel Challenge and local matches and screwing around and…never any gun-related issues. An ammo issue here or there with reloads, that I corrected and then was issue-free for thousands of rounds, but not a single gun or magazine related issue in…7 years? It’s been a long time and a lot of matches. I’m tempted to get another one but don’t know why other than “I want it!”

I'm happy to hear this. I mean I hear nothing but great things revolving around Canik as a whole, but that failure to feed/return to battery problem that is common on the MC9 felt like it was proving the Glock or Murica made only fanboys right after seeing it first hand with my friend's firearm.
However, a lot people talked A LOT shit about the Taurus GX4, and although it has shitty aftermarket support, it's actually an impressive gun and I have experienced zero failures. Only problem I have is releasing the mag because of hand placement, but other than that, it's surprisingly accurate for a micro9 and fun to shoot after getting used to. With that said, if i have taken my chances with the Taurus GX4, then I think I can take the chance the Canik.

I’ve heard of those MC9 problems too. Some derivative models, or batches, of anything can wind up wonky. That’s a thing. I don’t hold that against a whole brand until it’s an established issue with more than one model, or with every unit within one model and they keep pumping out that model unaltered…which doesn’t seem to be the case with Canik. It is with SIG’s P320 though, and that’s SIG 😬
My other Canik, a Mete Sf, so far has been as reliable as my SFx, so they’re earning my fanboy-ism. And the interoperability of their 18 (or larger) round magazines across all known Canik handguns is nice. The shorter ones don’t seat in longer handguns obviously, but the full size ones work fine in all size Canik handguns, like most same-caliber magazines in other brands (Glock comes to mind) so they meet that standard of convenience too.

How does this compare to a cz shadow 2?
Frosty-Willow-8273@reddit
It's not as nice as a Shadow 2, but you can buy 3-4 of these for the price of a nice Shadow 2.
Lost-Bell-5663@reddit
If I would’ve waited 5 years I could’ve saved $350 bucks
Tacomaguy24@reddit
Just imagine if you waited another 5
Lost-Bell-5663@reddit
lol something would have to jack the price back up
ASidewaysBanana@reddit
I have one of these and it is a phenomenal firearm. By far my favorite that I've ever owned. For this price it's a hell of a deal.
The only gripe is that it's a big boy. It's pretty light and narrow, but just has a large footprint of dimensions.
obamasfursona@reddit (OP)
We all need a big boy in our lives, every now and then
ASidewaysBanana@reddit
Agreed. I own a 2011 and this so I like em big.
USAFWorkAccount@reddit
My biggest gripe is sometimes you can hit the mag release unintentionally while firing but I guess that’s a training issue
Ok_Fish285@reddit
Are the triggers on Caniks as great as they'mir hypes?
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
I was comparing a Canik TTI to a Walther PDP Pro X yesterday and the Canik had a nicer trigger. Dunno if the same trigger is in the TP9. Coming from 1911/2011 triggers the Canik was surprisingly decent
iambecomesoil@reddit
The TP9 series trigger is one of its biggest selling points. They are very good across the line.
SpaceCampDropOut@reddit
Yes they are. It was a huge selling point for me
USAFWorkAccount@reddit
For how cheap they are, they’re pretty good
ASidewaysBanana@reddit
Huh, I've never experienced this. Must be down to a hand size + grip method difference between us. I can see how though it happens though. That release button and popping a mag in are both super satisfying on this gun.
NoobRaunfels@reddit
These are a great first competition gun, I ran mine for a year or two of comps and learned a lot. Now mine is a dedicated suppressor host and it’s great for that, with one exception: the feed cone doesn’t love flat-nosed bullets. YMMV.
ASidewaysBanana@reddit
Really? I've shot a ton of federal flat nose 147gr through mine without issue. I've only ever had one FTF and one FTE and that was with bass pros house brand ammo in brass case. I've thrown all sorts of shit in the mags of this gun and it's never failed except those two times.
NoobRaunfels@reddit
Down side: length of pull is long. I have midget hands so I switched to something smaller.
huntrun1@reddit
Have one, love shooting it. Very accurate and easy to shoot. Highly recommend

I've heard nothing but good things about this gun... but I just can't get over how it looks. It looks like a toy. It should be colored bright red and shoot suction cups.
SpaceCampDropOut@reddit
Love Caniks. Only downside is that their magazines are so damn expensive.
captain_carrot@reddit
worth it to spend the little extra on the Mete SFx, IMO, but still a good gun.
GiveYerBallsATugYaTF@reddit
What’s the difference?
captain_carrot@reddit
More undercut to the trigger guard, improved stippling, extended beavertail, flared magwell, ambi slide release, better trigger reset, and the ironsights aren't integrated into the optic plate so you can keep your rear ironsights if you install an optic.
t3abagger@reddit
I've always wondered how these are. I've seen two at the local pawn shop for \~$250 (one was pretty rough). Might be a good one to let a buddy borrow at the range!
16TonsOfStageVolume@reddit
The one I had was great. It ate everything I gave it and was always dead nuts accurate. It just felt cheap and sloppy and I hated looking at it.
Trigunesq@reddit
I picked one up used for $160 also beat to absolute shit but the gun runs perfectly fine no issues. Even for $250 that's pretty good. Use the savings to cerekoat if you want and it comes out like new.
