an israeli talking about 'living above your means' is so funny to me. what if the US stopped sending tons of money to Israel and they had to fund their wars on their own? where is the money coming from?
It's the fault of the military industrial complex. If not israel then any other vassal state could've been the intermediary. U Americans always need an external devil, never to question your own masters.
About 48 hours would transpire before an alliance with China or Russia would develop. From their POV, they aren’t getting that funding for free. They’re selling their alliance, and have plenty to trade for the funds. Before it was the US, they were doing it with other countries.
Yes, that’s exactly how it works. Why would they sell at $1/pound to Argentinians if they can export at $10/pound? Argentinian economy is in shambles currently and not looking to improve in the near future
Ahh yes, let us all hail the mighty imperial system, completly logical and used in the whole world...measuring stuff with fingers and feet, an whatever the fuck yards and miles are lol
Imperial system can survive getting all its measuring tools wiped and keep going because it’s all based on the human body, which we all have.
Go ahead and get a precise meter without having to walk Half of Europe down a certain line of longitude needing a whole tram to figure it out and then update it over years. Or figure out what celcius degree it is without being at a certain sea level with a certain type of water that you freeze and boil, which again, got updated after years of new attempts because they couldn’t figure out the sea level thing.
You need to wait for them to provide you with the new accurate measurement tools. I just use what I was given at birth.
Only the ones that were molested by the French, Spanish, or the soviets. Even the Chinese and Indians figured out that decimal point was the correct (and original) way of doing things.
these cattle property are mostly large hacienda estates. rich land owning holdovers from the colonial period. it was kept into place due bribes and corruption.
the state is basically handing over billions in subsidies to already rich "landlords"
Removing this system is an unequivocally good policy regardless of your political orientation or opinions on Miele
Believe it or not, there are other foods than beef. It's is one of the most resource inefficient, polluting, and unhealthy meats you can produce.
Despite stopping the pipeline of government money to rich ranch owners, Argentina is still consuming the most beef in the world, so I think they're doing okay.
What are you getting at? Still going to be produced isn’t it. Exactly my point though how is it beneficial to the locals to be unable to pay for a staple in their diet and just told to eat something else. Whatever money the government saves will probably be repaid and then some by the people who want to eat meat.
That isn't what's happening though? Argentina never capped beef prices or subsidized them specifically...
It's just that they've had crazy inflation (barely touched it despite the profuse media coverage, their inflation is higher than turkey) which has destroyed buying power especially for anything a) imported and b) they can be easily exported. Right now iPhones are the equivalent of like $2.5k there ffs lol
Governments have taken away people's ability to exist without them. They're killing the family unit and making people dumber so everyone will be reliant on the state.
a nationalist government would have no incentive to dumb down their people, ship out all their production, and flood the country with non productive 3rd worlders.
No, it's still more expensive. Meat prices are above the inflation numbers (which are bullshit numbers anyway and are still going up despite every policy Milei has taken against it)
Based on the average price of meat in Nov 23 (INDEC) the "asado" was ARS 3700. If you apply the accumulated inflation from Nov23 to Mar26, it will give you around ARS 17000, that is the avg price for it.
So... Do not fight against numbers. Understand if you don't trust the index or the government, but according to the numbers, meat costs as it was back then.
if the left side is price controlled then you can just assume it was never on store shelves. When you let items trade for their actual price then yeah, not everyone can afford it, but at least it is physically available to buy if you want it instead of paying the same inflated price + risk premiums to get it on the black market.
Actually quite the opposite. The government implemented heavy taxes on meat. One of the promises of milei was that the price of meat would go down after he got rid of those taxes.
It’s funny because the US is probably the king of unsustainable subsidies. Except there it’s not the people getting subsidies, it’s just already fucking wildly rich megacorpos
I am not invested enough to research it, but most often than not, when ppl pretended that "left leaning policies made life cheaper" they usually were hiding tons of hidden costs, like subsidies, taxes etc.
Which usually means that people PRE-PAID for "cheaper things", and then they stopped pre-paying and just started to pay market price.
Prices on the left were government subsidized cuts that were either imposible te get or 50%+ fat. Prices on the right are highly inflated o just premium cuts. There is a of price discrepancy between stores since prices are still normalizing. Also inflation, since that date, has been 343% so if you actually used real values it’s probably not that far off from every other good.
NoShit_94@reddit
There were price controls before, which means there was a shortage of meat.

Dying of nominalism.
First of all, those were not the real prices under the last administration. Those are the "regulated" prices (you didn't find it anywhere).
Then, the inflation at December 2023 was 25% in the month. 211% annually. That was insane and of course it impacted in the price of everything.
If you take the real variation (taking inflation into the calcs), it is actually almost at the same real price it was back then.
Few_Stress_9812@reddit
No, it's still more expensive. Meat prices are above the inflation numbers (which are bullshit numbers anyway and are still going up despite every policy Milei has taken against it)
