If they don't give Zelensky the $90b he feels he's been promised he'll just turn it off again - the whole thing was a simple economic blackmail stunt pure and simple - he was mad at Orban for blocking "his" money.
Meow-The-Jewels@reddit
Poor Russia and the stooges who's pockets they line around the world.
The world will be a better place without any of them and a much better place without all of them
It'd be better to oppose the super villain ass country instead of trying to be a contrarian at best and acting like nobody should get the raw end of a deal for supporting them
imunfair@reddit
Geopolitics is not a Marvel movie, once you wrap your head around that you'll have a better grasp of what's actually happening in the world.
Meow-The-Jewels@reddit
"Ha, I sure showed him by not understanding hyperbole!"
imunfair@reddit
You missed the point in your embarrassment.
Meow-The-Jewels@reddit
You think you're too important if you think you have the intellectual high ground because super villains are from marvel movies
You're allowed to talk like a normal person and not like you're in debate club
imunfair@reddit
I don't ask anyone to approach me as an "authority", I just mock them if they're being dumb, it's not that complicated. Geopolitics isn't about morality, internalize that and you'll realize the world makes a lot more sense.
Meow-The-Jewels@reddit
Well yeah, it should be when it can and sometimes it does but I don't really think that important to what you or I said
Ukraine in under no obligation to supply oil from the country invading them to a country aiding their invaders. That's not a moral decision.
I don't think you should go out of your way to act like Hungary or Russia are even remotely close to being the victims in that situation as supporting Russia actively makes the world a worse place to live.
To oppose a country invested in eroding western powers from their democracy, their institutions, their alliances, etc isnt just morally the right thing to do. Which it is, imo. It's the right thing to do if you care about those things, idk why you wouldn't, but I guess there's a possibility you would want the US to be more like a shitty eastern bloc country or something
Meow-The-Jewels@reddit
Crazy even a sub this size gets accounts wanting to make Russia and allies seem like the bad guys or at least like they're just being mistreated by the world.
kwonza@reddit
The pipeline that was damaged when Orban was in power, but is somehow magically working again. Amazing how that happens.
The funniest thing is Ukraine was the main buyer of Hungarian diesel made from Russian oil.
elcanariooo@reddit
Pro war Russian? Go enlist and hopefully die quick. Anti war Russian? Do something about it.
We don't really care about you beyond this.
haggerton@reddit
Pro war Westerner? Go enlist and hopefully die quick. Anti war Westerner? Do something about it.
We don't really care about you beyond this.
elcanariooo@reddit
Pro war... earthling? Go enlist and hopefully die quick.
Anti war.. earthling? Do something about it.
We don't really care about you beyond this.
? What's the game is that the game
jcw99@reddit
The west isn't at war. This could all be over tomorrow if Russia went home.
Snow_Unity@reddit
Why would they go home? Such an infantile line, grow up.
Eexoduis@reddit
Wow it’s almost like Ukraine is willing to make sacrifices to hurt the country massacring its people and destroying it every day. Whereas the fat bourgeois in the Russian imperial core cry about latte prices, the Ukrainians are betting it all on a military solution
kwonza@reddit
Sure, bro, I bet “sacrifice for the safety of the country” was the only thing on Zelenskiy’s mind when he allowed his corrupt friend escape to Israel after the latter was caught embezzling 100.000 million dollars of aid money. Or when Zelenskiy sent to jail the very investigator that was leading the case against his dear friend.
fretnbel@reddit
Russia posturing as the good guys is so incredibly funny. I mean you talk about corruption. Go and take a look at your leadership.
kwonza@reddit
We embezzle our own money, not the money that foreigner countries gave us. Those 100 millions were specifically given in support of power stations. Guess what was failing more than ever?
fretnbel@reddit
If so. Does corruption justify an invasion by an even more corrupt country? I mean mindich got caught. When is putin getting prosecuted?
kwonza@reddit
He didn’t get caught, he was tipped off at the day of the arrest and he managed to leave the country despite borders being closed to all male of serving age without proper paperwork. So clearly the border guards were also told to stand down.
fretnbel@reddit
So he did get caught? They just couldn’t arrest him.
kwonza@reddit
Only after the story went public and EU and US put pressure in them. Before that the guy doing investigation was in jail on Zelenskiy’s orders, and his buddy was busy hiding the stash
fuckshitballscunt@reddit
Wild how just a few years of closer association with Europe led to a significant reduction in corruption huh? You guys should try it.
CodeComprehensive734@reddit
One hundred thousand million dollars?!
kwonza@reddit
Somewhere in that ballpark
CodeComprehensive734@reddit
Got further reading on that? Thats an insane amount of money that would but that person in the top 50 wealthiest people easily.
kwonza@reddit
Are you serious, I was clearly making fun. The sum is 100 million which is still enormous.
CodeComprehensive734@reddit
Still. Source? My concern for absurd claims without a source ia still valid, as you've noted.
kwonza@reddit
Google Tymur Mindich and pick a source you can trust
CodeComprehensive734@reddit
Thanks
Nuzzleface@reddit
Cue evil laugh.
Adorable-Database187@reddit
We know all former Soviet republics have problems with corruption, it doesnt justify the invasion of Ukraine or Russia less of a blight.
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
Europe (Namely, the major countries) are just as big of a blight as Russia.
sofixa11@reddit
Remind us, which is the last genocidal invasion launched by a European country?
SurturOfMuspelheim@reddit
Directly? Iraq, if we're loose with what makes a genocide, like you are with Ukraine. Indirectly? Ongoing with Palestine and Lebanon.
sofixa11@reddit
I'm sorry, the invasion of Iraq was launched by a European country?
And no, there was nothing genocide related in Iraq.
Unlike Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which includes them kidnapping children and resettling them in Russia. Literally a genocide as per the UN Convention on Prevention of Genocide, of which Russia is a signatory.
Hope you're paid for the dumb whataboutism.
CodeComprehensive734@reddit
Hey, Grand Fenric has been trying to kill the rest of us for ages!
kwonza@reddit
I’m not justifying the invasion I’m explaining that both sides are trying to make money and it’s silly to pretend otherwise
ForeignEchoRevival@reddit
Who?
kwonza@reddit
You honestly have no idea? It was a huge scandal just back in November last year. I guess Western media doesn’t report on stuff that makes Ukraine look bad.
Google Tymur Mindich
Born_Suspect7153@reddit
Russia portraying itself as a saviour trying to bring evil Zelensky down will never not be funny.
balamb_fish@reddit
Maybe the Russian government could send a strongly worded letter to Ukraine to influence their decisions.
kwonza@reddit
I’ll look into that first thing in the morning!
Adorable-Database187@reddit
Oh no, we really should find a way to help reduce Hungary's dependency on Russian oil and help Ukraine more.
kwonza@reddit
Help Ukraine or help the Ukrainian elite?
HammurabiWithoutEye@reddit
It's cute how much you're trying
kwonza@reddit
You think it’s any different in US? The elites are reaping profits from weapon contracts and insider trading while the common folks are paying the price. If anything you’re an aggressor like us, not like Ukraine or Iran.
ChristerMLB@reddit
Yeah, but Tisza will lose legitimacy if average Hungarians' get lower quality of life, so this is probably a wise move in the short term.
