Guy thinks adding a Faraday cage to his bike made it faster, I mean the cooling sounds accurate if it was running hot before, but this is just silly lol

People will by $1000 speaker cables, some will buy this.
Suchatavi@reddit
You see where this is headed since young people are involved. Weāve split from the big tin can exhaust tips and airfoil wings on a Yaris! Now their tricking out their e-scooters𤣠sadly you canāt fit 18 subs on an e-bike𤣠The economy may be bad but thatās not gonna stop that Testosterone from being king of the e-bikesš¤£
Striking-Concern7935@reddit
to achieve this feat, one must have a flux capacitor at Maximum Capacity and 1.21 Gigawatts
PeaceOdd2476@reddit
I was wondering when a f cap. Would show up.

Bs, controllers rarely overheat. Bigger wires may have helped
Airzone_@reddit
Mines overheating sometimes, though it does have a fuse mod to push higher Amps. Chances are he likely have one too
AmpEater@reddit
How would changing a fuse do anything?
Itās on or off. Fuses donāt limit currentĀ
Airzone_@reddit
Shunt mods are when we have thick wires which limits how much current can pass through. If we solder the wires together to decrease resistance which in return can bring us another 5-10A of current.
Search it up if ur still confused, there is plenty about it online

Approach is a little goofy. In electrical theory heās heading in the right direction. A electric motor uses 3 phase power that requires a consistent frequency and taking measures to prevent phase syncing through EM shielding and ensuring phase wires have minimal bend and are not ran adjacent to each other can result in cleaner signal delivery to the motor resulting in a more snappy motor function. Assuming that op did not charge back to 100% every test run, battery cells do have better output performance in the 60%-80% range. I think everyone is confusing the bikeās performance under load with the bikes governing. He is not claiming that he added to the bikes top speed he is testing the systemās efficiency under a working load by going up hill so at no point he is reaching or passing the bikes top rpm threshold.
BoringBob84@reddit
This is stated in the confidently-incorrect manner in which I would expect from AI. Very little of that is true. Ebikes typically use three-phase induction motors and the controllers alter the voltage and the frequency to regulate power and rotational speed. High-power circuits have very little susceptibility to electromagnetic interference. And finally, batteries perform best at full charge, when their voltage is maximum.
BoRider-@reddit
Iām a radar technician and troubleshoot power pathways regularly. Phased power cables running adjacent to each other will induce an em effect and dirty the frequency and in āhigh-power circuitsā the effect only gets stronger. The cleaner a signal is sent to the motor the more efficient the motors operation will be causing improved performance. I didnāt comment to start a debate with someone whoās explanation is denial. What I wrote are facts and you saying Iām wrong changes nothing.
Get_Fuckin_Dabbed_On@reddit
Phase to phase wont really cause any problems. Phase to hall sensor wire or encoder wire could cause noise.Ā
If you are using FOC and hfi then the inductance between the phase lines could cause a delay but the windings are already like 10 mH so i can't imagine a little inductance would matter.
Anyway hes claiming around 25% efficiency increase which is dumb. I could understand maybe 1-3 percent.
BoRider-@reddit
Two days ago I had a power problem in one of my radar systems that I ended up sinking 18 hours into because a mechanic incorrectly reported that the power coming from the generators was within system tolerance. Later that night I was running out of ideas and potential suspect components. So decided to start again from the very beginning this time verifying power myself. To the mechanicās credit voltage and amperage tested nominal as well as frequency phase to phase but when testing phase to ground I found that what was supposed to be a constant 60hz was an intermittent drop to 55hz as the radar was moving in and out of blanking sectors. Just a 5hz difference was completely killing the 270v system. It was found that the cabling from the generators terminal was coiled on the ground causing phase syncing even through shielded cabling. Through recoiling of the cables the frequency stabilized and some choice words ensued after realizing I had just wasted 18 hours and 3 gallons of sweat.
BoringBob84@reddit
Sure, that is true in theory. Induced voltages on the power lines can cause some parasitic heating, but the impedances are so low and the induced energy is so little in comparison to the fundamental signal that the effect will not be significant in an ebike application.
BoRider-@reddit
I am curious as to what controller op has and what it uses for its pulse timing signal. Cheaper systems can have a variable heart beat signal degraded by ambient RF that the tape may be shielding now.
BoRider-@reddit
Thatās where I believe op may have done something though. On such a small motor phase timing is crucial to maintain a proper pull when the motor is under stress. Op must have had some form of rational thought when testing when he states that the tests were done going uphill. This makes the motors performance limit the amount of work the system is able to produce going uphill hill instead of claiming that he is magically bypassing the systems electronic governing. I donāt believe the feral cage did very much for the system electrically but probably did shield the terminals in the process and during the wire gauge upgrade probably routed the wires more optimally. Silver is also a decent heat conductor and along with the added fan it may be aiding in the heat dispersal.
underprivlidged@reddit
You are wrong, though...
BoRider-@reddit
This is paper trouble shooting and nothing can be tested, everything is speculation. If you believe I am wrong then produce an alternate theory to explain opās findings.
underprivlidged@reddit
OP is an idiot lying on Facebook to a bunch of other idiots.
It is almost as if they provided zero proof to claims that contradict actual science.
Want me to explain why a random guy posting Shrimp Jesus AI slop on Facebook is also wrong, or do you get the point by now?
BoRider-@reddit
What in āscienceā does op contradict?
underprivlidged@reddit
If I need to explain to you why a faraday cage will not make a bike go faster, I would rather talk to whoever educated you to begin with so I can ensure they never teach again...
BoRider-@reddit
If you read my explanation again properly I specifically state that the bike is not going faster. It is preforming more efficiently under a constant load.
BoRider-@reddit
Op experimented, recorded their findings, and reported. Their is no profit to him posting. Op shared because of interest or excitement.

You do understand that people can write whatever they want on the internet, right? If you read my previous comment, you would have seen "THEY POSTED NO PROOF".
I don't care if they shared some fun numbers to go with random images. They provided literally zero proof of any of it. So, until they do, their "testing", as you generously call it, is moot.
BoRider-@reddit
I proposed an explanation out of interest using electrical in how these modifications could have possibly reflected his findings. This is a second party post with no follow up. There will be no proof from op. It is you that decided that instead of proving op wrong you knock it up to your failure to try and understand and bag on my response. The burden of proof is on you now.

You can increase motor efficiency in many e motors by increasing the magnetic field strength. Either by changing out the motor magnets to better ones, or by using an array around the motor itself.
