I dislike French Canadians more. I’ve never once had a pleasurable experience with them, I work in the service industry and see people from all over the globe. French and French Canadians are the most dismissive and least personable, Italians are up there. Japanese businessmen are usually assholes. Every Philippino person I’ve ever met has been a joy, same for Ghanaians, Nigerians, a lot of Chinese tourists are awesome and I love taking care of any Latin guests.

I'm going to guess that for Americans it's because of war. No, not the Iraq thing. More like the 250 years of going to war alongside these people. For a country that we've fought alongside of for that long, we sure don't have a special amount of cultural exchange. Yeah, the influence is there but it's not like overt or anything compared to any other European culture.

I gotta assume it's because everytime our great+ grand pappys went to all our best wars alongside these people interactions were like yee haw vs hon hon hon. Our American ancestors probably thought they were weird as hell and then developed a dislike of them. Then making fun of the French got imported back home and passed on into mainstream culture.

Now I'm just pulling this out of my ass, but I can picture the YouTube essay. Some wry narrator taking dozens of anecdotes from war journals and missives dating back to the American revolution describing the comical difficulties of working with the French. It'd be one of those video essays by a content creator with only like 30k subs. They do excellent stuff, but because they only release a 3 hour video twice a year they don't have much of a following. 20 years ago it would've been a funny Cracked article but no one really reads or writes long humor articles anymore.

French are entitled as hell. They go on a vacation to a different European country and just start speaking French, while the language will obviously be Dutch or German. They'll put no effort in switching to English and just make you solve it.

When you're in French yourself and you speak their language (we have mandatory French in the Netherlands at school), they'll act like they don't know what you're saying and get so annoyed at you for trying.

They don't smile at you or make you feel welcome in places where they live off tourists.

I've just had the Worst experiences with them, but coming to the Netherlands and speaking French takes the cake for me. Imagine me going there and just start speaking Dutch to everyone. It doesn't work. Ok rant over..
