Class of 2001

I just realized today that June will mark a quarter century since I graduated college. I need to buy a sports car to deal with this midlife crisis I’m having.
Maniac1978@reddit
Class of 96. I bought a Acura Integra Type S in December. It’s my daily driver and it just so good.

I just went and got third holes in my ear lobes and put my cartilage piercing back in that I haven’t worn in 20 years. I figure it’s a cheaper alternative to a sports car.

Ill never know what it's like to spin one of these around a corner and straight into a light pole 😥
Organic_Popcorn@reddit
Former CEO of a company I used to work at owned one, dumb ass finally sold it after crashing it 4 or 5 times.

I read an article a couple years ago about how those things were basically death traps.
They were designed for experienced drivers to toss around a track.
But then rich guys would buy them and try to toss them around a back road, have no idea what they're doing, lost traction, and slam into whatever large solid object is closest.

In Gran Turismo 2, you could get a blue one with white stripes and a Team Orca race version. Things were fast but couldn't turn.

I mastered the Autumn Ring Mini with the GTS. Diving into the corners and getting just the right amount of oversteer. I own 5 of the GT games and I can't dominate ARM like that in any of them but 2.
imatt@reddit
My best friend, who has been professionally trained to drive things fast, did exactly that with his first Viper.
Yes, first. He's owned two since. They remain non-poled thus far.
twopacktuesday@reddit
I rented one for $350 back in about 20 years ago. Spinning around was pretty easy.

Better than missing the light pole and the corner and just flying off a cliff. (I drive that road regularly, and what a doooooouche, driving like that.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWi4HutNX5M

only $67,000
who_even_cares35@reddit
That has less than 3000 miles on it. One with 30k miles can be had for around $35k dollars.
1993 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster RWD - $39,998 - CarGurus https://share.google/rf0fpfWmAZnOxZ1eE

Oh good to know!
Why is that link a Google link? That screams "tracking and analytics"
who_even_cares35@reddit
It's from car gurus website
flerchin@reddit
To me that's a screaming deal. I'd much rather that viper than a new Charger which goes for around that.
-DementedAvenger-@reddit
Totally agree. I thought about trying to find one a few years ago. Wife considered letting me, haha
ShillinTheVillain@reddit
My midlife crisis started with a pole barn so I have room for all my toys.
But the older car market is bananas right now unless you want a project car
thejunkmanadv@reddit
I have been in my midlife crisis for 25 years. Only with motorcycles. This was when I was 25...
Izarial@reddit
I just bought a Fiat Spider a few weeks back, loving my European midlife crisis car!
viper6575@reddit
I've still got the same username and dream of owning one since I was 16.
PhinePheasant@reddit
Why is that Miata so big?
fromthedarqwaves@reddit
In our age traction and control are very important. Spinning your tires around is so uncivilized.
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
One of the coolest cars ever built
Weird_Squirrel_8382@reddit
I want a Shelby GT and my better half is being the No Fun League about it.
WorkingItOutSomeday@reddit
She understandably doesn't want you cheating on her with Eleanor.
chadwickipedia@reddit
Shelby GT 500 ≠ Shelby GT. Have some respect
CurrentHair6381@reddit
Yeah dont get that one, uou probably cant drive it right. Thats not on you, theyre really hard to drive
moles-on-parade@reddit
I got mine last November. The compromise was modern safety features, but it's a stick and lighter than anything else on the US market so it's still as much fun as a kiddie pool full of puppies. Life is short. Highly recommended!
SorryForPartying6T9@reddit
Hell yea. Real ones know the Miata is the right move.
SashimiRick@reddit
Will it have 500 horsepower and a Borla exhaust system????

But really, I got myself a little hot hatch that makes me giggle. You only live once.
jojotherider@reddit
Good job you can read the manual
qaa541@reddit
Also class of 2001 and I’m on my third sports car 😸
ken830@reddit
Myself, I'm waiting for the Tesla Roadster.
jesusmansuperpowers@reddit
Well that’s the year I finished high school, still wouldn’t mind a viper though. Notoriously easy to lose control of
fairlyaveragetrader@reddit
Oh my gosh those early ones are dangerous. I think my favorite style is the late 90s though, like the 1999 viper in that deep metallic blue looked amazing, White stripes, hardtop, it was just spectacular
867-53-oh-nein@reddit
Nice Miata!
Original_Boat6539@reddit
World class door handles and window roll ups that the European super cars at the time couldn’t possibly rival…
PetalFlirtie@reddit
the classic midlife crisis car, nothing says "I'm still young at heart" quite like a sports car that could outrun your last good decision!
WheelLeast1873@reddit
Worked at a grocery store in hs and this dude would come in every Saturday and park his red viper allllllll the way out in the back of the lot so no cars would park near him. Don't know if it eventually killed him or not.
Was cool lookin though.
Santa_Hates_You@reddit
I got an RS3. Fun and practical
Ltimbo@reddit
Same year here… and don’t tell me it was “a quarter century” ago ever again. Now I’m imagining myself lighting up a Camel Turkish gold and scrolling through my Nokia address book trying to find out what I’m doing on a Monday night with some serious senioritis kicking in.
DethByCow@reddit
Those Turkish Golds man….
martiancanals@reddit
If you can, do it! I'm still trying to impress high school me in some regards - I don't have a Ferrari or anything but I bought the whip I dreamed of upgrading to in '99. No regrets!
detectiveriggsboson@reddit
these were the height of badass for five years and then I didn't think about them again for fifteen
Charming-Insurance@reddit
Oh shit. I hit 25 years last June. 😬🫠
flerchin@reddit
It's surprisingly affordable to get a low miles American muscle car from the turn of the century. Mine makes me giggle.

Only if it transforms.
cutshop@reddit
And you got that? What are you a 20 year old girl?
