Ok-Courage798@reddit
He was going to run for president till he got high
Rayd8630@reddit
In the debate he craved some pound cake and I know why…
phunkyphruit@reddit
Why man???
Immediate_Habit_2398@reddit
Too many haters here.
Afroman is known and loved throughout the US. He'd be a boon to the party.
If you think otherwise you're either:
The worst would be to be both: academic and racist. Afroman is "an ignorant rapper who knows nothing about politics" will show your true colors.
This man is clearly pro:
If you listen to any of his interviews, speeches or court appearances (i.e. if you became less ignorant on the subject), you would know he is no dumb-dumb.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
He'd get more votes than Chase Oliver, and he can be very articulate and well spoken. But I feel it would just further convince people the LP is a complete joke.
Arguesovereverythin@reddit
Nah. Trump ran as "that rich dude from a reality TV show". Democrats thought he was a joke and he won twice. If he hits the right notes, I think he has a shot.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
The problem is Trump got a nomination from a main party. A significant chunk of the public will not vote 3rd party. And a not-insignificant chunk just say:
And vote straight party ticket.
Arguesovereverythin@reddit
He still had to win the party nomination and he won over candidates that were not a joke whatsoever.
idontagreewitu@reddit
Also the Clinton campaign collaborated with the DNC to elevate Trump as a better candidate because they believed he would be easier to beat in the midterms.
History makes fools of us all, as they say...
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Please Clap...
SadTumbleweed1567@reddit
A shot at what, winning the nomination? No third party candidate has a chance at winning the Presidency. Also, Afroman has a significant disadvantage compared to Trump. His skin color is a hard no for many MAGAts.
Parabellum12@reddit
No doubt. Might as well run Vermin Supreme and fully embrace what a joke the party is.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
As much as people disliked Gary Johnson, he was the best candidate we had. And he was actually being taken seriously to the point they ran a PR hit on him.
The whole "What is Aleppo?" thing was a masterpiece in PR assassination.
It would be like if you and I were talking about what to order for dinner, and then out of the blue I asked your opinion on "Eleven Forty Three by Twenty Three versus Nine".
You'd probably be momentarily confused. We pivoted suddenly from food to guns. You might even ask what the fuck I was talking about. I'm talking about what do you think of 45 ACP vs 9mm.
A very common gun question. Any gun owner should be able to speak about that. But if I jump to it out of the blue, and phrase it in a way nobody uses by switching the .45 ACP to its metric 11.43x23, you'd understandably be confused. But you'd likely have a decent reply once you got your footing.
And then when I show the video, I only ever show the part where you're confused and claim you didn't know what you were talking about, I mean who doesn't know the most iconic US handgun round ever produced?
CaliRefugeeinTN@reddit
I didn’t get the hate for the Aleppo thing. We’re voting for us president, not the aleppo president. Stop worrying about others when our country is falling apart
idontagreewitu@reddit
I doubt half of Americans could point to what part of the world Aleppo is.
humanist-misanthrope@reddit
Johnson was my first LP vote and at the time I did so because I was hoping he’d hit 5% (as he seemed to have a really solid chance). But during that time I started to realize I agreed with him and thus started my path towards libertarianism.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
I think he got 3.2%? The closest we've ever gotten and without the "What is Aleppo" he may have done it.
Honestly 2024 was another huge chance for us. I mean Donald v. Kamala? Two of the most unlikable candidates. And we ran Chase Oliver... A candidate so bad he didn't even contribute to his own campaign.
Gsomethepatient@reddit
Not just that people on his campaign were actively going on gay subreddits looking to hook up with gay guys, like I was replying to a guy who apparently worked on the campaign saying they ran a great campaign, check his profile and comments its just all gay subreddits and him saying I wanna suck daddy's big cock and shit like that
Like I have no problem if he wants to do that but you cant expect me to believe you ran a serious campaign when all you were doing was looking for a dick to suck
idontagreewitu@reddit
Entirely possible that was a fake being run by people opposed to him to discredit his campaign with a provocative social presence.
Gsomethepatient@reddit
Possible but doubtful, this dude was going hard defending the campaign they ran
humanist-misanthrope@reddit
I genuinely liked Jo and had really thought she could have been better than Johnson. Trump was so toxic in 2020 that my deep red neighbors were looking for an alternative and I constantly recommended her to them.
And yes, Chase was a let down. I was also not happy with how much the LP was embracing Don Taco in 24.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Jo was good on paper, but she'd say the dumbest things and discredit herself.
Like ok, yes, that's the goal. But you can't just come out an SAY that. You need to be more nuanced about it:
See, I said the same thing, but I said it in a way that assures people there is a plan not just a rug pull.

RealNinjafoxtrot@reddit
8.5 times out of 10 I read ATF's comments I learn something new/interesting! Lol
Abandon_All-Hope@reddit
I read somewhere that the Clinton campaign spent more money trying to convince people not to vote third party than the libertarians spent in total that year.
Budget_Secret4142@reddit
Shocking /s
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
She was just such a bad candidate. The literal embodiment of establishment entitlement. She truly believed it was "Her Turn" and everyone else should just shut the fuck up and step aside.
And before anyone tries, no, this is not an endorsement of Trump. Didn't vote for that ass clown either.
RagnarBateman@reddit
It's the media. You have to be master of the 5 second soundbyte and be the first to it.
VVTD33@reddit
Libertarianism is definitely not a joke. The party? It's like a Dave Chapelle set. Nothing but jokes.
TurdFergusonlol@reddit
“Articulate and well spoken” feels like such a dog whistle. Like why do we always have to use those as qualifiers for black people?
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
Nobody here was making it about race but you.
TurdFergusonlol@reddit
Nah man just calling it for what it is. There are plenty of well spoken people who smoke weed, and some of the most articulate and wealthy people in the world dropped out of school. But a rapper??
Nah dude this is the same coded bullshit like “lunch pail” guys in sports or “thugs” on the news.
I can also guarantee you’ve never described a Larry the cable guy type as “articulate and well spoken” lol
Boddis@reddit
His albums are always comedy
mycorobot@reddit
What about the American political system Is not a complete joke already?
squirrelyRob@reddit
Like everyone thought Trump was a joke when he entered the republican primary in 2016?
BobaFettishx82@reddit
We could have had Justin Amash, but the morons in this Party No True Scotsman’d him out. Biggest mistake ever, and we ended up with lame ass Oliver.
AlphaTangoFoxtrt@reddit
I thought Amash didn't want to run? Or did he not want to re-run for congress on the LP ticket?
BobaFettishx82@reddit
He did, it was actually when Jorgensen got the nomination… which was also a mistake.
NJRougarou@reddit
I would canvas for him.
Zephid15@reddit
We need someone who can crush in the debates and be taken seriously. We're not going to get the popular vote in my life time, but we can at least force them to answer the hard questions on a public stage.
I love the energy, but how about a VP spot?
Hollirc@reddit
Bro go check out his recent court battle. Not sure we would get a better person into a debate than him.
perpetualfloating@reddit
I thought Rand Paul did pretty well versus Chris Christie in the Republican primary, especially in that spat where Christie was bragging about the Patriot Act, and Rand Paul said "Get a warrant." Christie didn't have a response to it, yet the Fox News anchor delightedly said " I think we know who won that one!" in reference to Christie.
I actually think Rand would run circles around anybody else the libertarians could put out there, but I don't think he would win because of all the purist.
safetysandals@reddit
Does he still have the hookup for those barbeque ribs you want to cook up?
BeefSupreme2@reddit
Honestly I would still vote Libertarian. I didn't like that Chase Oliver was a homosexual, but I voted for him anyway cause he isn't sucking dudes off on my property and minds his own damn business.
Mr_ZapatoBlanco@reddit
idiocracy, anyone??
lambdeer@reddit
His opponents are just going to show the video of him knocking a woman out
ewokparts@reddit
Fuck it, I’m in.
BlackHandKUR@reddit
Yall really just want to be a meme, huh.
battlepassbattlepass@reddit
Has Stephan Kinsella ever considered running?
Zaggnabit@reddit
I dunno, considering the last three elections; would Afroman even be out of place?
The Duopoly is not sending its best people.
Let’s be honest too, the LP never gets any attention. The media treats it like a joke.
If the Libertarians ran a primary with Massie, Chase and Afroman with maybe one more legit outsider type; could the media resist that at all?
I don’t think they could.
If Afroman starts talking policy he might be legit too. I’ve met him, brother is way smarter than his rap personae conveys.
tesuquemushroom@reddit
People might be waking up to the fact that no political party serves their interest. It has never been more obvious that R and D hate the hoi polloi. I think the elections are mostly rigged and the two sides pretend to hate each other to control people. I'm thinking Libertarian candidates have possibly gotten more votes than reported during the elections but they get manipulated so that the Libertarian party doesn't get recognized as an official one. I think they need like 10%. Anyways, if in the coming election there is no vote manipulation and the shift we've seen in the perception of our elected officials, Afroman stands a chance.
NJRougarou@reddit
If this is a stupid question, please excuse me. But why not Rand Paul? Or Thomas Massie?
lamar_in_shades@reddit
Thomas Massie is a libertarian and Rand Paul is not. People view Rand overly favorably because of his father, but he hasn't stood up to the Republican party when needed with nearly as much consistency as Thomas Massie.
Wavyknight@reddit
A lot of libertarians have bad feelings toward Rand because he’ll never live up to his father’s legacy. This would also confirm to some people that libertarians are just off-brand republicans. For what it’s worth, I agree with you though. If Massie was on the ballot, I’d be so motivated I’d probably volunteer and go door to door.
Bri_So_Fly@reddit
Hell yea dude I hate politics but I would campaign so god damn hard for Massie if he ran
stinkydog39@reddit
If Massie made it to the ballot, I would vote for him in a heartbeat
Laurenslagniappe@reddit
Massie has balls I would vote for massie in a heart beat. Dude is actually honest.
SadTumbleweed1567@reddit
Because Rand and Massie are Republicans. If either ran as a libertarian, they'd be blacklisted from the Republican party. Even for a seat in Congress they'd lost. Massie might outperform Trump in his district as a Republican, but I'm not convinced he could win without the Republican party.
IWantToPostBut@reddit
I don't think it is a stupid question. But I do think that for anyone to jump from where they are to run as a Libertarian is a huge ask. We haven't had a great record of funding our candidates to run large campaigns.
guitarjob@reddit
We should promote him for his blacks shouldn’t say n word stance
Norseman103@reddit
I was gonna vote for Afroman but I got high.
MangoAtrocity@reddit
I’d vote for him
Dastari@reddit
Why the fuck not at this point.
itsamememario4@reddit
Justin Amash.
The rest can run a contest for the vp spot if they want.
SuckHerNipples@reddit
As someone from Michigan where he was our "representative", I'd rather vote for a pile of horse shit than ever see him elected again.
Arguesovereverythin@reddit
what did he do?
itsamememario4@reddit
Based on the lack of response I assume he didn't like the fact that amash wasn't onboard with trump
SadTumbleweed1567@reddit
Amash was probably too ethnic.
itsamememario4@reddit
You can't drop this in r libertarian without explaining yourself
Lastfaction_OSRS@reddit
Lot of naysayers here but I would vote for Afroman. He seems like the chill sort of dude who would maybe not drag us into another disastrous war.
The LP has been trying to run serious candidates for years. At this point, why not run what is essentially, a meme candidate? Our current representatives in Washington, outside of Thomas Massie, are already a joke anyways.
Libertas888@reddit
Sad but true.
wrabbit23@reddit
Do it! I challenge anyone to come up with a better candidate. Spreading Libertarian ideas is just as important a goal as winning elections at this stage.
Chosenwaffle@reddit
Yeah, we don't need a Libertarian to win president right now (it isn't going to happen). We need to reinforce directional libertarianism as an important place for whoever becomes President to take us. Spreading these ideas, getting eyes on the information, waking people up, all of these things help push our country in a less authoritarian direction and in a more libertarian one.
I say this is a great idea. Get the world talking about what it means to be a libertarian, and how that can actually work to unite a country instead of divide it.
Libertas888@reddit
Agree. Given the Libertarian Party won’t likely win AND we need to continue getting the message out AND we need to convince more normies we’re a real alternative, could we create and campaign on an entire ticket of prominent names?
Example: Pres - Massie, VP - Rand Paul, Sec of State - Amash, … Supreme Court nominee - Napolitano, etc. Then go full court media campaign.
If we know you’re going to lose, go balls out and make a statement. Might just win.
croNIKSikness@reddit
JFC. We can't be serious. Are we trying make the movie Idiocracy a documentary?
Goobalicious2k@reddit
“Who are you?”
“I’m… not… sure”
“Come with me, Not Sure”
Goobalicious2k@reddit
This trend in celebrities entering politics is becoming disturbing. Keep in mind I’m also a Buckeye and pothead like Afroman, but at some point we are just making a mockery of the system instead of trying to FIX and LEAN OUT the system.
CaddyDaddy26@reddit
Shit like this is why libertarians don’t get taken seriously or win elections.
oWatchdog@reddit
People take the Republican party seriously.
CaddyDaddy26@reddit
Maybe if they nominate Afroman that will change?
gpcyan3@reddit
I respect his hustle, but let's be serious for a minute. He's not who we want representing Libertarian ideals at the national level.
robertvroman@reddit
He should run for Adams County sheriff first
gridlock1024@reddit
Shit, if it worked for Donald "You're Fired" Trump, it can work for Afroman. He's got my vote
IWantToPostBut@reddit
Two totally different situations. Afroman as the Libertarian candidate has a zero percent chance of winning. I agree that he could do a world of good talking about free speech and opposition to government excess - but that's not the point. Donald Trump started at something like number 22 of 26 candidates for the Republican candidate and was super useful in helping knock the best Republican candidates out of the running. The Democratic Party loved the idea that Hillary would be running against Donald Fucking Trump - they couldn't lose! They might have misjudged how bad their candidate was....
wgcole01@reddit
I'm in. Where can I get a t-shirt? I need one now!
Corked1@reddit
Definitely an improvement over Chase but at this point we might as well get Vermin Supreme.
Slowmaha@reddit
Fuck it, I’m in
Notworld@reddit
This is why the libertarian party is a joke.
wrabbit23@reddit
We have plenty of excellent candidates that would make great statesmen I have zero doubt. If you see what wins elections it's not that. It is attention grabbing spectacle, and bold words that everyone can understand. Celebrity doesn't hurt.
Now that ballot access has become worse thanks to last elections infighting and utter stupidity, a serious political party would be worrying more about that - which doesn't take winning.
Expensive_Tailor_293@reddit
This is where we're at now. "We don't need to win"
