Girls Trip in August

Hello! I am planning a small bachelorette trip in August for just 3 girls. We are coming from Denver and looking for suggestions on where to stay in the Dallas area. Google says Deep Ellum, Plano, Uptown. We are wanting: dinner (fancy/elevated is fine but not a requirement) followed by drinks after. Ideal night we are out bar hopping places until 1/2am. Following day would love coffee shops and maybe a brewery or bars again.
What area will give us the best and safest* nightlife for 3 females?
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
OP, why DFW out of all places? Just curious
missbinoculars@reddit (OP)
Great question and funny answer- the bride loves baseball so our first night will be the Frisco Roughriders lazy river game (yes I know the lazy river is actually tiny, but she’s excited!). So we’ll be in the area regardless :)
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
ahhhh gotcha, now that makes way more sense (especially why you brought up Plano) lol. Then y'all definitely need to tour Rangers'. They have just revamped that area in recent years (great restaurants, etc in that area but beware of tourist prices). That really sucks that Rangers happens to be on the other side of DFW in Arlington or I would have recommended staying closer to Arlington instead.
If you want to be close to Frisco, there's actually so many good restaurants there and Frisco actually tends to have more of a 20s-30s crowd anyways so I'm sure there's good bars around there too. Make a stop at Hurts Doughnuts (open 24/7 too)! Or staying around Plano Legacy [make sure it's the Legacy area specifically lol]. They're close to DART if you need it too (hopefully the metroplex doesn't do away with it by then which is currently being discussed 😅). Being a young girl myself, I would understand wanting to be close and not having to risk much public transportation or Uber costs. Since DFW is more spread out and y'all already have specific plans like the game, it could be a better decision to split renting a car among you?
PS- I feel so awful that I live super close to Frisco yet hadn't heard of the Roughriders until your post 😅 but then again I'm not much of a baseball person lol

Look at the Hotel Swexan. TONS to do and walk to right there! It’s in Uptown. Hotel Zaza is fun too!
popcultureplus@reddit
Deep Ellum is unsafe and Plano is a family oriented suburb.
big-dal-tex@reddit
Hotels: Drey, Joule, Swexan, Ritz Dallas, Rosewood Mansion, Adolphus, Crescent Court, Zaza
Ms_Monstera@reddit
Third these hotels. Swexan is expensive so if you don’t want to stay, definitely go to Isabelle’s for martinis!
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
And for a bit more affordable, the Hyatt Regency is really nice and literally connected to Reunion Tower and right next to DART to get anywhere.
It’s not directly downtown but Gaylord Texan next to the airport in Grapevine is a great getaway—look it up.
dogloverpeep@reddit
I second these hotels! Bishop Arts area for coffee + art, Legacy West Plano, NorthPark Mall, or Highland Park Village for shopping. Oak Lawn and Uptown are nice and safe areas in downtown to stay at with both good food, HH, and coffee options around offering some walkability. Check out Katy Trail for early morning walks too with bars along the trail. Lower Greenville also a good area to walk around, eat, drink etc. Check out Lalaland coffee!
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
Interested to see if others from DFW agree or not: but for a trip with just 3 girls and wanting to feel safer, I’d say staying at the Gaylord Texan which is an experience in itself and literally has nice restaurants and coffee shops in it but also some of the best in DFW down the road at Grapevine’s Main Street might be the best (especially if you like wine). If any of y’all like history, you can even visit a bar that Bonnie & Clyde are said to have frequented there. The best part is it’s down the road from an almost constant train that can take you to Fort Worth or Dallas too. If you had to pick, Joe T’s and a day at the Stockyards or downtown Fort Worth is best (if you wouldn’t rather stay there altogether instead too).
Bonus if you’re into haunted tours for either of those 2 towns lol (but I’d say Fort Worth definitely has more stories).
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
well my favorite bar in Dallas that was so much fun just closed down so there goes my suggestion 💔 in that case, if you want a bar hopping experience Fort Worth is better.
TeamImpossible4333@reddit
Fort Worth and Dallas are quite far apart. I would pick one or the other.
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
But you can get to each by DART just takes a few hours out of your trip, but sometimes that ride can be fun with friends in itself
TeamImpossible4333@reddit
I mean you can. Why anyone would come to Dallas for a fun trip is still beyond me
wompwompswamp123@reddit
you could stay at a hotel in dallas and go to a nice dinner and the bars in lower greenville, wake up go to brunch and head to ft worth? the drover is my fave hotel ever but it’s expensive to stay. even if you don’t stay there, go and get an espresso martini there and sit outside! (it will be 1 million degrees lol) then yall can go joe t garcias for dinner to get tex mex, wear boots, get fun pics etc you can go to rodeo, shop (lots of cool leather and hat and boot stores) and go to the bars and end your night at billy bobs! (maybe even plan around a concert)
you’re welcome for this free itinerary;))) hope yall have fun!!
Boss8399@reddit
DO NOT GO TO PLANO wtf is Google thinking?? Those are the suburbs. I’d be pissed if I was traveling and ended up in Plano surrounded by parents and families. They probably got that from AI
Traveshamockery27@reddit
Legacy West could work if you want to stay at a nice hotel and eat at more upscale restaurants. But yeah, there won't be as many young people, and people won't be looking to mix and mingle with strangers.
PresentMammoth5188@reddit
Yeah Legacy is great but more for if you’re already here than if you’re coming from a different state (unless visiting someone) imo
missdrywit@reddit
Eh, Legacy West maybe? She could hear everybody showing off their cool cars. /s
Historical-Table-629@reddit
DO NOT STAY IN DEEP ELLUM! I lived there so trust me when I say DO NOT STAY IN DEEP ELLUM!
What are the ages??? This would help me give more information.
According to your wants listed above, I would say stay in Uptown. However, Rockwall would be a good place as well and I’d suggest staying at the Hilton on the lake at the harbor and ask for a lakefront room. They’re absolutely gorgeous.
The pool is phenomenal and there are several high end restaurants within walking distance and they have quite a few bars as well. Check out Rockwall and I bet you guys would love it.
Historical-Table-629@reddit
Lower Greenville/Knox Henderson is also a wonderful area for bar hopping.
If you need a hotel that offers amazing pool parties on the weekend, I’ll list some below. They’re lots of fun and also within a short distance in the event you need to uber to bars/clubs. - The Statler - The Crown Plaza - The Joule - Hotel Zara These are my top suggestions. Good luck and I hope yall have the time of your life. 😊 Let me know if you have any questions or want feedback on your selections.

Just wanted to chime in to say August in Dallas is adjacent to Hell in terms of one's ability to enjoy spending time outside. Coming from Denver it'll seem like you're literally on the surface of the sun, lol.
If you're dead set on Dallas, absolutely do not stay in Plano. Uptown and Deep Ellum are fine options for eating/drinking, and each has a handful of hotels that would be nice enough to stay at.
I'd also add lower greenville to your list. You'll have to find a house to rent but if they have a pool that'll be well worth it.
missbinoculars@reddit (OP)
Would late June/early July or early September be better?
Electrical_Long_4222@reddit
No. The awful hot starts in May and doesn't really stop until late October. I've had plenty of sweaty halloweens. September you can sometimes have nicer days, but the early part of the month is still very sweaty.
Aperture_TestSubject@reddit
Where to stay in August?
You stay inside…
missbinoculars@reddit (OP)
Not sure why I typed Denver in the post, but we are coming from Orlando which seems to be very similar in terms of heat
Aperture_TestSubject@reddit
Ahhh, than you should be used to being miserable. Different kind of heat though.
As many have mentioned, Ft. Worth is a good time, Frisco area has lots to do, Dallas is alright, but there are definitely areas to stay away from.
edrobster@reddit
This is the only correct answer in this thread.
texaskittyqueen@reddit
Uptown, deep ellum, or lower greenville. Don't go to plano. It's just a suburb.
Internal-Back1886@reddit
uptown is your best bet for a girls trip, walkable nightlife and plenty of spots open late. the canopy by hilton or the hall arts hotel both have pools and are close to everything. fort worth's near southside is also fun but more chill.
i used Zenvoya for my bachelorette logistics and it saved us a ton of coordiation time.
MechanicsAntics@reddit
Why go to DFW? This isn't a good tourist city at all. We don't have functional public transit and there's nothing unique here that isn't in any other city. The nightlife is mid at best too. I would go almost anywhere else.
missdrywit@reddit
Legacy West, Bishop Arts, Lower Greenville!
Do not recommend Deep Ellum or Uptown personally.
wompwompswamp123@reddit
also monarch is pricey but it has the best views you can get. you can pay extra for a table with a view of whole city
mgilson45@reddit
if you are doing Fort Worth, the three best areas to look into are the Stockyards (Drover hotel) for a Western theme, Arts District (museums and Dickies Arena with a lot of college bars nearby), and Near Southside (small local owned restaurants and bars and is more 30-ish). All areas have good local music venues and are a short 15 min drive from each other.
Repulsive_Pin_6585@reddit
Uptown is your best bet! Look up Hotel zaza if you haven’t already. Enjoy your time and the food!
wompwompswamp123@reddit
i went to hotel zaza for valentines dinner and from what saw og hotel it was not impressive and was kinda run down almost? am i missing something
craneman88@reddit
People have mentioned some spots in Dallas but also Fort Worth and Austin. I have lived in all three, each are unique and offer what you’re looking for.
Dallas is the most elevated of the three in my opinion, Fort Worth is more touristy, and Austin is elevated but without the boujee feel of Dallas (not hating on Dallas by any means) with more outdoor activities - Barton Springs, food trucks, paddle boarding, etc.
Another way to look at it is I preferred Fort Worth in my early 20’s, Dallas in my late 20’s/early 30’s, and Austin through all of them.
Regardless of where you choose you don’t want Plano and prepare for the weather to be miserable.
wompwompswamp123@reddit
i wouldn’t stay in deep ellum or plano. plano is a suburb. deep ellum has lots to do but it’s not super safe late at night (just have to be watchful) you’ll want to go near lower greenville / knox henderson area
xolondaxo@reddit
I vote Lower Greenville Ave/Knox-Henderson as well. Both areas have decent restuarants and walkable bar strips. I prefer lower Greenville personally.
Deep Ellum is okay during the day and early evening but I wouldn't hang out there past 10:00 pm. It starts getting a bit wild and can be unsafe if you don't keep your head of swivel. Plus all of the construction over there is annoying to have to navigate.
Dallas hotels: The Statler and The Virgin Hotel are my favorites.
If you end up in Fort Worth, The Stockyards and Magnolia Ave are cool neighborhoods to hang out.
rficloud@reddit
Why Dallas? Seriously. And in August? Austin is much cooler for bar hopping and coffee shops.
No-Wallaby-4333@reddit
Yeah. Dallas sucks. I stayed downtown for Christmas, horrible time.
Outrageous_Tomato_42@reddit
I would do Fort Worth before I did Dallas. It’s more set up for tourism and relaxation.
AdmirableSwim5838@reddit
Go to Fort Worth!
Accomplished_Clue414@reddit
Adolphus is a great hotel downtown with a pool.
Lots of cute restaurants in uptown, Knox, and deep ellum. August is really hot so shopping at north park would be a good way to beat heat too.
Would agree don’t stay in Plano or deep ellum.
wompwompswamp123@reddit
or you could stay at the crescent or the omni since it’s just three of you! the omni has a really nice rooftop pool
