I’m convinced if this hadn’t have released in the height of the 320 controversy, this would be THE gun to own.
You know how sig will every so often release something and it’ll be a game changer? This is one of them. They’ve always released incredible hammers and this is no exception. It’s the best thing they’ve made in a long time. I thought it was gonna be just another 2011 but nothing touches it, nowhere close, in the price point.
You won’t have the fit and finish of most high end 2011s, but it’ll shoot better than any of them until the $4K range. I can’t get over how much I like this thing
BaronMaupertuis@reddit
What does this do that a Staccato P doesn't do? Sig has lost a lot of credibility over the P320 fiasco.
Le_Notsee_BrownShirt@reddit
Have they? The only people that still believe the 320 has issues are people in the gun community. Have you heard of one “going off” since the fake Air Force shooting?
1610925286@reddit
The problem is not some magical hidden failure, it's a competition trigger with 0 external safety features on a service gun that just asks for trouble.
This is why we get new incidents and still can't point to a mechanical issue.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
It really seems like it’s always military or LEO where you hear any issues. It would be convenient to jump on a bandwagon if you did an ND when the stakes are high, but there’s also usually smoke where there’s fire. Not always, but at the same time there are millions in circulation carried everyday.
That said, the 365 is a much better platform. Seems like sig has really shied away from pushing the 320 at all anymore and are just making bigger 365 grip modules to fit the duty.
I personally like the 365 for their micro/slimmer variants and for full size, hammer sigs shine

Canadian national news from 3 days ago. Other reports say one of the CAF soldiers who was shot is a member of JTF2, which is Canada's Delta Force/SAS.

Great question. I’ve owned multiple staccatos over the years and currently have an HD, it’s one of my favorites.
Staccato rebranded under STI, and STI made some super slick race guns. Staccato was built more for duty and reliability in mind. A staccato P is a great all around shooter, but it’s nowhere close to a P211. If you want a duty grade 2011, a staccato is where you go.
That said, staccato released the XC as their top end pistol with an island comp and when it came out was a fan favorite, at a cost of $4500. It was one of if not the flattest shooting pistols out there.
When Stac released the HD line that took Glock mags as well as the Platypus and the 2311, it was rumored Sig would release their own variant that took P320 mags. When they dropped the P211, reviewers were immediately making bold claims and impressed. Quite a few were saying it shot as good or better than their XC. Knowing Sig, knowing this was $2000 less, people just assumed it was market hype.
Then when real world users got their hands on it they were backing up the claims. Having shot multiple double stack 1911s from the low end to high, I can confirm it’s real. The P211 (and XC) feels like you’re shooting a 22LR. There’s just no recoil at all.
But to answer your question, if you want a fantastic shooting range toy or competition gun, the P211 blows the P out of the water. If you want a duty grade 2011, go with a P. Both serve different purposes.
I can’t speak on the P211 GT4 and GT5. I’m sure they’re good as well, but they’re built more for carry. I can’t say I wouldn’t go for a Staccato there given the track record.
BaronMaupertuis@reddit
Do you shoot Limited Optics with your 2011s?
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Nah I just have fun at the range
1610925286@reddit
This explains a lot
BaronMaupertuis@reddit
Competition is fun at the range. Put all that hardware to some use besides plinking. You'll make friends, have fun and become better.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The closest competition offered is an hour and a half from me. I have a group I do shoot with but I haven’t looked into competition yet. It’s not in the cards at this time but I may later on
KaneIntent@reddit
But what about Bul?
Echo_Raptor@reddit
What about it? I’ve touched on Bul in this thread. They’re pretty nice, but proprietary mags ruin it for me. From a shooting standpoint it’s still not as good as the P211 at all. I’d go with a Kimber 2K11 pro comp over Bul myself.
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Wonder how these compare to a Platypus or BUL. Doesn’t seem bad but there seems to be a solid amount of competition in the 2011 space these days
Echo_Raptor@reddit
I laughed when I read it shot about 95% of a staccato XC for half the price.
Then I shot one. It’s ridiculously good. I’ve shot a platypus and a BUL as well. The platy shines in customization but isn’t anything special in shooting. The BUL shoots really flat but mags are proprietary.
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Any build quality comparisons? I’ve always been very impressed with how my BUL 1911 is put together but I haven’t gotten my hands on one of their 2011s. And yeah I’m definitely expecting some diminishing returns in this price range. Hell my $500 Turkatto probably shoots 85-90% as well as an XC
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Actually yeah I can give some insight. BUL makes a fine 1911 and even better 2011. I have no issues whatsoever with BUL as a company but the proprietary mags are turnoff for me personally. I’ve grown more of a fan of cross-platform mags or easily obtainable ones. That’s one huge plus when going to a staccato HD, I had plenty of mags.
As far as build quality, BUL is better. They’re a smaller company and their 2011s were unobtanium does awhile there. A good friend of mine had the one with the v8 ports and it’s definitely a track driver. The p211 is from a huge company and sig can make them more readily available. The p211 isn’t bad build quality, but it’s not on par with a hand fitted dedicated 2011 company.
I’ve run a lot of 2011s. From the Turkish to the high end and the p211 and Mac 9 DS comp impressed me the most from a performance/price standpoint. I know a guy who’s in a 2011 group of friends and they all own $7-10K 2011s and they typically don’t buy multiples so they can share each other’s and swap around. They all bought Mac 9 DS comps, they love those things.
But that said, nothing touches the P211 up to the $2000-2500ish price range. The next best that I’ve experienced was both the XC and the Watchtower Apache (assuming you get one that’s good to go). My point earlier was that had this not released in the middle of the 320 fiasco, it would be the gun everybody wanted. When sig gets it right, they typically change the game. But when sig gets sloppy, they get real sloppy. They used to be extremely consistent, but when they went to sig USA and wanted to build an ecosystem, they’d release boatloads of the junk to dealers and their high end stuff just trickled out. People would see M400s as nothing special not realizing the MCX was the polar opposite and ridiculously good
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
I really probably should’ve ponied up the extra few bucks for the MAC over my Tisas lol. As for the BULs, yeah proprietary mags are unfortunate but if they’re good and available I don’t mind it too much. There was a guy with a Staccato HD at the last match I went to, I really should’ve asked to handle it but I forgor lol
Any experience with the Kimber 2K11s? The finishes on them seem nice but from an actual use perspective idk about modern Kimber QC. And while I’m asking, how about an MPA DS9? With PRS discount I’d think their pricing gets very close to the SIG.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The Kimber 2K11’s feel absolutely top notch. I haven’t heard a bad thing about them. But it’s hard for me to pay that for a Kimber. Maybe one day.
As for the MPA DS9, r/2011 seems to love them. They don’t do much for me. If I was paying $3500 I’d just pony up on an XC
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Just went down a rabbit hole on coatings so another question while we’re here lol. Any chance you’ve handled an Alpha Foxtrot Romulus? DLC coated at $1100 seems pretty nice compared to $3.5k+ for the next closest (MPA/STI). Basically any other gripes in a cheap 2011 seem easily remedied but aftermarket coatings are $200-500+ minimum
Echo_Raptor@reddit
What is it you’re looking to achieve?
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Nicest setup I can cobble together for the least money. My Tisas is already more than capable of what I need functionally but I’d be willing to pay a little extra for smoother, nicer build quality. The Cerakote on the slide is already wearing through on the rails within the first 1000 rounds which is not a problem but kinda meh. I’ve shot an MPA DS9 that was nice but definitely not 7x nicer. I am planning on getting a steel grip and associated goodies since everything comes with polymer grips. I’m less bad about being this stingy with rifles but handguns and shotguns seem a bit wasteful to spend money on lol
Echo_Raptor@reddit
My recommendation is to buy once, cry once. Save up a bit if you need to and invest in something you really like. If a Staccato XC is a grail for you, save up for it. You can always change parts out over time. If you want a BUL, P211, 2K11, customizable Platypus, get what you want and don't settle.
That said, if you REALLY just want a good performing 2011 that you can upgrade over time and don't want to spend much, if it doesn't matter that much to you...sell the Tisas and get a Mac 9 DS, Apollo 11 gen 2, Kimber Warrior DS, or a Witness 2311. The Warrior is pretty underrated at sub-$1000 but it doesn't compare to the 2K11, so just make sure you're aware of that. But consider too if you buy a $1000 double stack and add $500-600 worth of parts, you're close to performance in what a $2000 2011 comes with out of the box.
Points of diminishing returns will set in, just as it would with any gun you'd buy. But if a nice fit and finish is what you're after, you're just not going to really get that until you hit the $1800-2000 range. You could also keep an eye out on the used market. There have been blemish staccatos to hit the $1300-1400 market before directly from Staccato.
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
Yeah I don’t really have (attainable) grail guns. Maybe a BUL but it’d have to be absurdly good for me to pony up $2500+ for a pistol and I suspect it’s not THAT good. Cheap stuff these days is too good for me to justify spending more.
I’ve handled a few Kimber Warriors and they were overall okay but didn’t seem like anything special. Wasn’t a fan of the Witness having an aluminum frame. The MAC will be on my radar whenever Tisas finishes their import situation with those. Honestly a big problem for me in the $1500+ range is that I think I’d actually prefer a nice CZ/DWX if I were to spend that much money anyways
pzedp@reddit
So not a fan of the platypus?
Echo_Raptor@reddit
I mean yeah, I like it. The customizability is second to none. But it isn’t anything overly special in the shooting category
TJ_Auto@reddit
I haven’t shot a BUL but the reason I hate the Platypus and the Fusion is the Glock grip angle it still has. I shot my buddies P211 recently and I loved it.
pzedp@reddit
Platypus now has 320 mags.
clicktoseemyfetishes@reddit
I really need to get my hands on a Platypus/Fusion. The P211 feels pretty decent in my hands despite taking p320 mags
SlateBlueSporting@reddit
Polarizing because of the politics around SIG, but I know a few people who own this and love it. Saw one at a USPSA match a couple of weeks ago and it looked sweet. Guy shooting it said it’s his favorite pistol ever.
BaronMaupertuis@reddit
Why this over a Staccato? I'd be concerned with Sig not backing the pistol up.
BIGbudz808@reddit
Honestly Sigs warranty service is second to none
Echo_Raptor@reddit
You’re downvoted but Sig’s customer service is great. Their PR team is where it sucks lol
KaneIntent@reddit
And Staccato isn’t?
chuckisduck@reddit
Unrelated, but I felt growing up Ruger was the gold standard at backing up their product.
Echo_Raptor@reddit
Bill Ruger was against AR-15s and said “nobody needs that many rounds in a gun.”
And yet Ruger is well loved again. People jumped on the 320 bandwagon - understandably given how sig handled it, but if you dig you can find terrible decisions from all of them. Can you imagine if somebody from Ruger said that now?
RuddyOpposition@reddit
Ruger is damn good, but I would appreciate if they put more effort at QC on the front end. The last two revolvers I bought had to go back.
DUCK_FACE_JONES@reddit
lol
Recon2df@reddit
It just a shame you have to shoot it in open rather than limited or LO.
xangkory@reddit
Comp delete. A couple of companies, including Sig, make them and it is an easy swap.
2011v8@reddit
It is a great gun but you can get the blacked out version for the same price if you have taste
BahnMe@reddit
Blacked out gun?! Wow, how original
2011v8@reddit
I express myself with red anodized ar15 parts instead
chuckisduck@reddit
I can't say anything, I bought the b5 glow in the dark when they were released... What happens when you run out of AR-15 things to assemble and own a stable of poverties.
CatsAreMajorAssholes@reddit
Pink handguard with a truck nuts grip.
I really need to talk to somebody.
ibnhall@reddit
Blacked out version is cheaper but the Gold is heavier.
1rubyglass@reddit
😆
TJ_Auto@reddit
The gold is really off putting
AnalDisarray@reddit
I LOVE GOOOOOLLLLLLLLDDDDDDD

GOLD GOLD GOLD

Trope360@reddit
But on the other hand, I have always wanted a Jesus Piece...
Echo_Raptor@reddit
The equinox and the base design are the best looking ones
Phyraxus56@reddit
That's what gets to you?
I'm not a fan of the dingleberry aesthetic.
Jason1435@reddit
I believe the grip is probably brass for weight
jxl013@reddit
Uhhh gross
Kulmid@reddit
This sort of fucks
IronSights11@reddit
My buddy has one. He loves the thing.
