In Bulgaria tall guys like 180+ cm prefer dating petite women like 160-165 cm. You often see a tall guy walking around with a very petite lady that could look like his child from a far.
At the same time many shorter guys for some reason hook up with women 168-175 cm and are in what we call "Italian couples", i.e. the woman is taller than the guy with high heels on or sometimes even without them. Think Al Bano and Romina Power.
I'm one of the few guys with my height 183 cm that's more into women like 168-175 cm tall. I don't know why this is rare preference for someone my height here.
Is it like that in your country?

I'm petite 155 cm tall 🤣 guys around here who are 180 cm and such do tend to be with petite girls. Basically around here tall girls aren't favoured, though they are very fit, beautiful too, a lot more beautiful than me I have to say. It's just a common men preference here, they are always into whoever shorter than them.

I’m 194cm tall, I wouldnt date a girl over 170cm. 170cm is my ceiling, preferred height is 165cm which I find ideal.
My exes were 160. 162, 164.

I don't ignore any girl that shows interest in me, no matter how short or tall. My OP is about general preference if I could choose. Usually the women are the ones who choose so a guy has no choice or power in that.

170 is a cutoff for me just because once you are past that height you start noticing that the girl is taller than the rest. Group pics she stands out etc. just not something iminto

I’m a bit older than the average redditor (mid-40s) and I swear there wasn’t any major height discourse when I was growing up. Everyone just dated and I never remember anyone complaining about height or anything like that. I dunno. Maybe other Turks can pipe in but it seems like it’s become more important with social media and dating apps.

Yes, but men and women operate differently. Most men like most women. Women are much more selective. What happens in the proposed scenario is that the woman has multiple suitors she can choose from and takes the ine she likes most. In the case of the guy he gets with the woman that accepts his advances (as opposed to the lots of women who reject them).

Not every woman has endless suitors, and getting male attention is not the same as having real options.
Plenty of women get rejected, struggle in dating, or settle too. And saying men just take whoever accepts them is insulting to men, as if they have no standards or agency. Real relationships are based on mutual choice, chemistry, timing, and compatibility, not this fantasy where women sit atop a dating marketplace while men beg for acceptance.
That's not reality... (Maybe on Reddit it is though 😅)

As a tall Bulgarian woman (177 cm) I can confirm what you wrote. In my twenties I struggled a lot trying to find a boyfriend who is at least as tall as me and every time I saw a couple where the man is so much taller than the women, I thought to myself "Such a waste!". XD
Anyway, I had an Erasmus Semester in Germany, saw that the Germans are mainly tall people and I actually moved to Germany and I'm now married to a German man. ☺️

Dude, chill. Genetically, you try to compensate when choosing a partner for the sake of your childern to give them the best chance, even though mostly subconsciently. So very short people go for the opposite. That is why short men usually date the tallest women they can get according to the societal norms - those that are same height. Short women also go for men that are extra tall.

Hi, fellow Bulgarian here. All taller guys I personally know are specifically looking for taller girls (168cm and up) and don't want to engage with shorter girls.
Almost all short girls (160 and under) I know are obsessed with guys over 180cm. Going crazy if you're over 190cm.
And ALL taller girls (170cm+) I know are obsessed with shorter guys.
So yeah based on my observations, its the girls' tastes that determine what you'll mostly see here.

All women prefer to date tall men. Its like an universal thing. Most men don't care about womens height as long as she is hot. 168-175 women tend to like 1.90-1.95 men. Because they want to be able to wear heels and still be shorter than the guy.
However these things are not an exact science. Instead of thinking about height just go out there.
You make it sound like you are ordering a product with exact dimensions. Maybe you will love someone who is 1.55 and 50 kilos? Or a much taller girl? who knows? Dont set limits in your head.

Did not know 183 is considered tall in Bulgaria. 183 is like an average height for males in Serbia, Montenegro and probably Bosnia. I, for some reason, just assumed it would be similar in Bulgaria, Macedonia etc.....guess it goes to show how much we (I) take for granted....

Height is my 17th criterion for choosing women, and it barely comes into play. If anyone chooses based on height, it would be women (because in general, they have more choosing power).

I'm Bulgarian and 185 cm with a fiance that is about 180. Tbh I've never cared about height. You live long enough you stop caring about meaningless things like this and only care about how much you love the person you're with
Plus, when you're tall you realize it's not always great. Taller people live shorter lives, get exhausted faster and are more likely to get diseases and cancer.
