The Romanian Social Democrats have left the goverment today. You think Bolojan will resign willingly or be forced to ?

Romania saw how Bulgarians fucked themselves yesterday and decided to join in out of neighbourly solidarityš¤š„°Ā
Fabulous_Plenty_9339@reddit
Nope. The right wing decided we don't need 40 billions Euros this year and that we are rich enough do borrow the money at 10% interest rates, only for their rats to remain in power and suck the money š basically, like Orban did.
liberalskateboardist@reddit
romania and bulgaria should merge and became big powerful european country, even greater than france
tenhoursdude@reddit
I read this with Trumpās voice
liberalskateboardist@reddit
good point haha
NeaTitiDeLaCroitorie@reddit
There was a plan at some point around 1890 for Bulgaria and Romania to form a union, but Austro-Hungary and Russia strongly opposed.
This_Lion5856@reddit
I mean that's how the First Bulgarian Empire was formed and the Second Bulgarian Empire aswell, both of them started in what was the territory of modern day Romania.
Even our liberation and revivalist movements started in what was then Wallachia, but Russia didn't want a strong independent country in the Balkans, but rather a bunch of subservient states
NeaTitiDeLaCroitorie@reddit
Also, Kaloyan, the tsar of the Second Bulgarian Empire, was of Vlach-Bulgarian origin, just like Asan and Peter. It kind of depends on who you ask, but most sources say they came from a family of southern Vlachs mixed with Bulgarians. Back then, Vlachs and Bulgarians were pretty mixed on both sides of the Danube.
I always considered the Bulgarian people to be our long lost brothers.
liberalskateboardist@reddit
so now, they should try again hehe. hungary is weaker and russia is busy with own military adventure
Appropriate-Tell-270@reddit
This will never happen because the people are retarded, they are too stupid, their brains are rotten by socialism. The only things they want is social welfare, free money from state. Some people learn from mistakes, romanians does not, they always choose the old communists disguised in "social-democrats'" every 4 years (PSD) thinking that this time will be better.
Neutrinomind@reddit
Romanians trying to not call other people stupid, retarded, or other derogatory terms challenge(impossible). Unless you're Einstein or Von Neumann or at least someone with great academic credentials, you have no leg to stand on calling other people stupid.

We fucked ourselves by finally electing a majority to form a government to resolve 5 years of constant elections and instability fueled by corruption and electoral fraud?
pcmasternoob@reddit
Yes. Remain ungovernable.Ā
palladium2@reddit
How is it ungoverable? An opposition party has won absolute majority and will likely govern for a full 4 year term.
pcmasternoob@reddit
Yes, and that's bad. Bulgarians thrive in chaos, our economy has grown by 20% since 2020. Stability is evil and boring.Ā
palladium2@reddit
What?
citronnader@reddit
actually he might have a point. When the government only purpose is corruption the lack of a government might be a good think. Some years ago we had the most stable government on the planet. Main 2 parties finally teaming up for a coalition. Where that brought us? Society, feed by their greed and corruption rejected even the few sound points they had and decided to go for such a crazy unbalanced man, even Trump its his prime is nothing but a shadow. Canceled elections, state in utter chaos, 10% deficit per year with barely anything to show for it. 60 billion (with a b) from the emergency fund gone. Right before the most crazy time we've seen this century. So yeah, chaos is better than evil stability. Idk much about Progressive Bulgaria or Radev but i can bet his stability won't bring much better results than what Bulgaria would have had with chaos
DeffoNotAnEngineer@reddit
Quite precise actually, too much power seems to wreak havoc in Eastern Europe (see Hungary). What works for larger, established democracies (periods of stability and consensus) can mean more entrenched corruption for weaker democracies. The solution is an informed electorate and a competitive political class, but these are fantasies for us. We're headed into a dark period with both extreme corruption and instability, the worst of both worlds. What's needed is a grassroots movement, a touch of populism to get across to voters, backed by reasonable policies & competent leadership, something like Moldova's pass.
Adept-One-4632@reddit (OP)
At this point we should call this period the Bulgarianisation of Romanian Politics. š

Guys..? What's going on over there? Please don't tell me this is something that puts Simion in a good position
clonehunterz@reddit
Just as bad, it might put the right-wing party in a good position
Novel_Plum@reddit
One of the biggest party left the government. There are 2 main posibilites: minority government or PSD-AUR government (which puts Simion & co in power). So yeah, it's bad...
Adept-One-4632@reddit (OP)
Sadly, it is possible.
hgaben90@reddit

Adept-One-4632@reddit (OP)
Fasula@reddit
Ohhh rest absurd, Simion is playing in the little league compared to what Romania can still have time to produce as far right extremist party
UrsulPlictisit@reddit
In theory yes, but I don't think so.
They don't have anyone in their party which could be near capable to govern or lead a ministry. If he comes out of opposition to govern, he will lose many voters because of that incompetence. He should know that, but again, he is not the sharpest tool in the toolbox
Besides, in current parliamentary formula, Simion's party needs to form a coalition with many others in order to have 50% + 1 in parliament, which includes UDMR and I don't think that UDMR will like the idea to enter in a coalition with those extremists.
Yes, Simion's party does well in polls, but I think that they like to be in opposition. Nothing serious to be done. Just screaming and saying stupid things from time to time.
hgaben90@reddit
I hope you're right, thanks for the glimmer of hope.
OlymposMons@reddit
of course it does unfortunately.
any of the governmental coalition's bickerings and apparent instability makes Simion and his party more appealing to the average voter
bravejohn1@reddit
That is exactly what this will do, it makes Simion kingmaker of sorts in the Parliament. Likely the corrupt old party that instigated this move will be more or less devoured by Simion's party who will win the next elections on a populistic platform. Pretty ironic since they planned for Simion to be their puppet (even literally pushing their party members to vote for him in secret in recent elections).
Consis10cy@reddit
Russia lost you by Magyarās win, so now its main focus is on us and the Bulgarians š„¹š„ø. And we do have plenty of stupid people hereā¦that give Simion legitimacyā¦
BipolarBear123@reddit
Tbh in our case we don't even need the Russians to fuck us, we are nationalists in this regard and the ones who fuck us are Romanians, we don't have to import corruption, we breed it at home
JealousBalance9707@reddit
Not right now. For now heāll probably just mess with them to increase the chaos. But at the next elections?
We might even have early elections. Unlikely, but somewhat possible.
hgaben90@reddit
Fingers crossed for y'all. It would be nice to be on the same side considering global politics for once.
Ok-Cat4471@reddit
Classic balkan politics.
They f**ed the economy for years, created a massive budget deficit, now when the s**t hit the fan they act like this is unacceptable and someone needs to stand up for the people.
paulstefan@reddit
Bolojan had a obvious solution that even FMI proposed - progressive taxation but he chose rather to increase taxes on the poor. The result is a crash of consumption which is death for the economy since consumption is all we have.
DoverBeach123@reddit
Progressive taxation pushes capital abroad and discourages mid-level entrepreneurs, making people more dependent on big multinational companies that can optimize their taxes and destroy competition while also increasing bureaucracy. It just isnāt a real solution. The fact that the International Monetary Fund suggested it doesnāt prove anything.
faramaobscena@reddit
Progressive taxation the way PSD dreams it will kill any semblance of a middle class. They think if you make 1000 euro a month you are a rich chiabur and must pay.
AdMountain2802@reddit
Progressive taxation is already happening in Romania, currently you are not taxed a fixed amount each month, you are taxed via % of your gross salary. People earning more already pay more taxes than people earning less.
You can stop sugarcoating it by calling it "progressive taxation" and instead properly rephrase and call it for what it actually is, increased income tax.
DeffoNotAnEngineer@reddit
Progressive taxation means higher salaries are taxed a higher %, based on marginal rates (ie your first 1.000e is taxed at 10%, and your next 1.000e from 1-2.000 is taxed at 20%, for example). What you describe is a flat tax that doesn't scale up with income, it remains a fixed percentage.
AdMountain2802@reddit
It still looks like coercion to me, sorry! The only way this would make sense to me would be if the health tax would be a fixed rate from the minimum wage aka 405RON for everyone (regarding the fact that both minimum wage and above salaries get the same medical treatment).
If the progressive tax is introduced in Romania we are going to take home less than 50% of our Gross income. That's Belgium territory and honestly Romania doesn't have the same Belgian salaries or quality of life in fact it's at the opposite end of that in my opinion.
DeffoNotAnEngineer@reddit
Absolutely agree with you on that, the problem is large scale evasion. The government has to make up for the crap VAT receipts (itās collecting half of what it should be) by taxing the crap out of work and the remaining honest entrepreneurs.
However, where I disagree with you is the taxation on minimum wage. In Belgium the minimum wage is probably taxed around 0-15%, but in Romania itās far too high at 40%+. Instead of several wage increases āby penā, there should be a tax free threshold for low incomes to raise living standards. But that would require a competent tax office so until then we are stuck taxing some people 50% to fund the government.
Fasula@reddit
Yes, they should really tax the people earning lots of money , like over 700 eur net with 90% taxes /s this will make room for another 1 mil people to be employed by the state
Ok-Cat4471@reddit
You simply can't have high consumption at 10% inflation, or else the inflation will keep going up.
paulstefan@reddit
The inflation is largeley resulted from vat
Ok-Cat4471@reddit
My brother in Christ, when Bolojan came into office, the inflation was already at 7-8%.
DeffoNotAnEngineer@reddit
He is mostly right, inflation in the rest of EU was trending down in the latter half of last year, but we're still dealing with increasing inflation and even BNR analysis supports this. The only major thing which could explain the difference between Romania and the rest of the EU was the increase in VAT and removal of fuel subsidies.
Common_Source_9@reddit
So after I finally get to a decent salary in my 40s, with a masters degree and a dozen certifications and stressful responsibilities, the solution is to tax me back into living from paycheck to paycheck, so that the politicians and their cronies keep their sinecures and pensions and shoebox money?
How about fucking no?
