What’s the weirdest takeaway food you’ve tried that turned out to be amazing?

Uk are obsessed with takeaway and I’m curious what weird things people have tried and not hated.

My local Chinese does Szechuan pigs ears as a starter, they're amazing 😍

Chicken korma pizza. It worked so well together.
0-starlight-0@reddit
Where from? I need it
No_Top6466@reddit
I had it years ago when I was in Edinburgh, I really wish I could remember where exactly it was from.
Pleasant_Jim@reddit
Damn. You know the street at least?
Party-Newt@reddit
Curry on Pizza is fairly easy to come across from most generic Kebab/Indian/Pizza jack of all trade takeaways in at least the decently populated areas of Scotland
Pleasant_Jim@reddit
Sometimes. I don't see it that often in Edinburgh if at all
Teaocat@reddit
Chicken Tikka pizza for me. Local student food curryhouse that decided to get a pizza oven.
Snoo_23014@reddit
Hull patties. Disgusting on paper, amazing in real life!
electact@reddit
Isn't it just fried mashed potato with herbs? I wouldn't call that disgusting on paper, awful name though.
Krakshotz@reddit
And chip spice
Psychological-Ad1264@reddit
Lived in Yorkshire all my life and never heard of them. Next time I'm in Hull I'm going to go looking for some.
Snoo_23014@reddit
You can ONLY get them in Hull

Omg just looked it up. Sounds incredible

Had some fried rice dish from a Chinese once that came topped with chicken, only the chicken was black. It' looked suspicious but it was the best chicken I've ever eaten before or since. I went there for a few years before it changed hands and the same dish changed to something totally different. No idea what it's called, how it's made, never seen it since. I yearn for the black chicken.

Donner kebab pie.

Weirdest Battered Mars Bar. I thought it would be vile, it wasnt that bad not amazing though.
Probably weirdest take away that was amazing was a spaghetti bolognese pizza - thought it would be awful but it was really nice (cant remember the shop though)
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
If you ever get the chance, ask them to batter a crunchie for you.
DameKumquat@reddit
Sounds too sickly. A deep fried Snickers works better than a Mars bar because there's more structural integrity. But even so, half a one is probably plenty, even when it's pissing down at 4am and you've just finished working a show at the Fringe...
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
The honeycomb melts down to a gooey glorious centre though I agree lightly battering works better so you still get a bit of a crunch on the shell. Snickers didn't quite work for me. I've had in restaurants before (Mars Bars) - Oban Fish Bar and Olde Cheshire Cheese, London - served with ice cream to help cut the sweetness.
Zorolord@reddit
I am going to try that, thanks for reply. I bloody love crunchies too.
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
I lived too close to the Kiness Fry Bar in St Andrews where it is meant to have started so tried a few too many options. Creme eggs don't work.
Zorolord@reddit
Thats great, probably not soo good for the cholesterol levels 😂
NoNameNoNumba@reddit

Oh yeah I’ve tried those. Not a fan personally
Delicious-Fee-6225@reddit
On holiday I tried snake curry. Thought it was chicken, should have read the sign.
Surprisingly chicken like, but also, not really…
Also eaten frogs legs, bit nasty them.
Insects in Thailand, mostly just taste how fish food smells & whatever spice is put on them.
Distinct-Lion4658@reddit
Chicken parmesan. Fried chicken as a base with pizza sauce and cheese on top
Delicious-Fee-6225@reddit
You’ve never been to Newcastle I take it. Chicken Parm.
Seafoxing@reddit
Tell me your from Middlesbrough without saying your from Middlesbrough
Unhappy-Philosophy-9@reddit
If they’re from Middlesbrough, they’d know a Parmo doesn’t have a pizza base. It has bechamel.
This is a chicken parm.
Distinct-Lion4658@reddit
I'm from a town above Newcastle so not too far off
ReySpacefighter@reddit
You're, and if they were, surely they'd be calling it a "parmo"?
Occamsfacecloth@reddit
Pizza sauce if you want to ruin it. Bechamel sauce.

Oxtail stew - not sure how common it is but it is lovely served with jamaican dumplings.
During covid, one of the local extremely upmarket restaurant did a finish cooking at home form of take-away - the most wonderful bouillabaise stew with scallops.
MineMelodic5454@reddit
I’ve had some pretty odd sounding Chinese hot pots - intestines anyone? But so spicy and so good
Neither_Process_7847@reddit
Sounds awesome - must try!
