Islam is not any better, at least Christians won't go on a killing spree for destroying their statue. Imagine this was a caricature of mohammed the pdf prophet. All hell will be loose.
Plus, the cross has been reinstalled by the IDF and the soldiers who vandalised it jailed.
Adept-One-4632@reddit
It doesn't matter. Israel's goverment will just brush off any criticism as being anti-semitic.
This is effective for many politicians in tge west, especially here in the EU. Unless pur leaders grow a spine for once and actually defend international law, nothing will be done about Israel's actions.
Israel is a prime example of ehy we should not let any nation's goverment crime exempt, even if they were genocided 80 years ago. Human rights must be followed by EVERYONE. And as long as retards like Ben Gvir are in charge, there will never be peace in the Middle East.
Beautiful-Piglet-563@reddit
They quite literally put the officers in jail, and reinstalled the statue. But your hatred won't let you come back and edit/update your comment.

“People suddenly care now? We’ve seen disrespect toward Muslims for years and it was ignored or justified. Either all beliefs deserve respect, or none do. This selective outrage is the real problem
Hour_Way5612@reddit
You are right.
But also you should remember that the anti muslim propaganda was mainly designed so that it was easier to wage war against them.
And it has been going on for 30 years.
Relative-Tourist8475@reddit
What selective outrage? Christians ar emit at war in the Middle East. It’s the most peaceful community. Praying, going to church and nothing else. Yet Muslims and Jews are constantly hitting them with bombs and violence.
Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
Yes, and we have seen Muslims murder Christians and Jews, not statues, for centuries on end. Your point about selectivity is?
Hefty_Jaguar4305@reddit
You would write that to the Dobruja Tatars, Turks, and Roma too, wouldn't you?
Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
Look, I do not wish to sound like I am whitewashing Wallacho-Moldavo-Christian cruetly against Roma and Tatar slaves. I know my country's history and I know that nothing but historical accountability, education and a fair distribution of welfare and economic opportunities could partially (not wholly, never wholly) right the cruelty and injustices of the past. Having said this, have the integrity not to refer to past or present realities in a historical void, or exclusive, unilateral damage. Therefore, people do not suddenly care. People have been caring for many, many, many years.
Hefty_Jaguar4305@reddit
The Tatars and Roma in Dobruja were not slaves; Dobruja belonged to the Ottoman Empire until 1877-78.
Tatars had settled there long before that, as had people from Crimea.
Dobruja was not a slave territory of Moldavia-Wallachia.
Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
Apologies, I misread you, and your acrid response only makes me regret extending an olive branch.
In reality, there was a time when Dobruja belonged to the Romanians during the Middle Ages. Mircea cel Bătrân incorporated Northern Dobruja into Wallachia around 1388–1389. He lost control of the region to the Ottomans toward the end of his reign, and death in 1418.
I wasn't refering to the Dobruja demographic specifically, but to the historical enslavement of Tatars and Roma in general, which has been largely spread by...ding, ding, ding...the Ottoman Empire itself. Once again, I misread the intent of your initial comment and have no interest in continuing the conversation with such a sour individual. And yes, Dobrujan Muslims did contribute to violence against Christians and Jews. I'm glad we straightened that out.

Kind of going off topic but I’ve read somewhere that slavery was introduced in the danubian principalities by tatars and they themselves used to raid the countries and take plunder and people to be sold as slaves in the black sea slave trade network, the Milky Way in Romanian used to be called “Calea Robilor”( the slave’s way) supposedly if you followed the milky way you would return back home if you were freed. One wrong doesn’t justify the other but I thought it is worth mentioning.

Netanyahu is the reason so many people moved to the right. He is the one who brought Ben Gvir and Smotrich to power. And the reason is simple: either he is a criminal who goes to jail, or he leads the neverending war and is free.
You are lucky you were just spit on. It could be worse. Secular Israelis are constantly attacked by ultraorthodox nuts because of their clothes, because they dare to work on Saturday, because they took a wrong turn and ended up in the ultraorthodox neighborhood. I know a mother - my former classmate - who has to go to ER with her child. They were attacked with rocks by the ultraorthodox mob, because they were on a bus stop in Jerusalem on Saturday.
The same secular Israeli do not support the war, horrified by the war crimes, go to protests, block the roads, fight to put Netanyahu in jail for his previous crimes. But they are universaly hated by the world, the world press, their own right wingers. And this universal hate moves more and more of them to the right.
It will not end good.

I remembered Dante’s Divine Comedy. He placed Muhammad in the lowest circle of Hell, for corrupting God’s religion and leading it astray.
I think Jews also believe something similar about Jesus. But holding such beliefs doesn’t require disrespecting people. ISIS also destroyed the “idols of infidels” in Palmyra.
Personally, I don’t hate Jews. But (in my view), if ISIS had succeeded and established a state, it would be something very similar to Israel: a state that shows no respect for anything—neither the rights of others nor their lives and spiritual values.
Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
"Personally, I don't hate Jews BUT" Classic move. Name checks itself out, too.
EmreTaptukYunus@reddit
What does criticizing a state's policies have to do with hostility toward Jewish people? Does that mean everyone in the world who criticizes a government is automatically racist against that country's population? What a cheap piece of demagoguery.
Israeli Arabs are just a minority. In fact, other Arabs are not granted citizenship precisely to keep that minority from growing. If Gaza and the West Bank are Israeli territory, then why aren’t the people living there Israeli citizens? And if they are not Israeli territory, what is Israel doing there? They have effectively established a system resembling apartheid, similar to what the Nazis did. Criticizing this does not make us racist—it makes us human. I would recommend the same to you.
Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
Your comment is pure nonsense and you keep moving the finishline, because you know that you cannot rephrase or explain your initial comment into something that is decent or historically correct or acceptable.
Your initial phrasing "I don't hate Jews, but [proceeds to critique Israel]" indicates several shortcomings in your thinking. First, Israel and Jewry are two separate things. An Israeli can be a Jew, but not every Jew is an Israeli. What's more, an Israeli can also be a Muslim, but not every Muslim is an Israeli. Simple syllogism based on ethnicity versus nationality.
Moreover, Israeli Muslim Arabs make up almost 22% of the population. If you consider Israeli Arabs to also encompass Mizrahim (Arab world Jewry), then Israeli Arabs are by no means a minority, but a sizable demographic on par with Ashkenazim. Gaza and the West Bank are not Israel's territories, but Palestinian ones. Apartheid is a system of segregation that can exist inside a country, and not outside it. In this sense, you can say that Israel is a country with highly secured borders, but not that it is an apartheid.
You may criticize Israel, as there are several things to criticize it for. However, the moment you include an ethnicity in your criticism, it's game over for your holier-than-thou facade. I can criticize Erdogan and Turkey for the way these approach human rights, however, the moment I preface my criticism with 'I don't have Turks, but..." your argument collapses in of itself.
EmreTaptukYunus@reddit
You are searching for hidden and deep meanings with yet another ill-intentioned approach, a defensive reflex of someone who constantly faces ad hominem attacks. This is nothing more than your own illusion.
Today, Israel struggles on every platform to prevent the recognition of Palestine as an independent state. Palestine’s electricity, water, and all kinds of humanitarian needs are dependent on the Israeli state. Israel holds every kind of authority over those lands but assumes zero responsibility.
As I said; if that place belongs to the Palestinians, why does Israel not want an independent Palestine? If it belongs to Israel, why doesn't it accept them as citizens? (Because then the Arab population in Israel would reach 51%, and 21% is, of course, a minority compared to 51%). Furthermore, if that land belongs to Palestinians, why is Israel expanding its borders by displacing Palestinians piece by piece and replacing them with Israeli settlers?
As I’ve stated, I believe I am looking at this from a very humanitarian perspective. I do not advocate for anyone to burn down or destroy Synagogues, nor do I spew malice and hatred toward Jews; on the contrary, my greatest wish is for them to live in peace as well. But as I said at the beginning: if ISIS had established a state today, they too would have made some ideological concessions (like the Taliban) to comply with the international system; would that have made them better or more acceptable?
Israel is a state that seizes the lands of people it does not wish to see as citizens, piece by piece, leaving them no living space. Anyone who wishes can look at the demographic changes in the Golan Heights. Now, they are trying to do something similar in southern Lebanon. Saying this has nothing to do with antisemitism. It is people like you who embolden Netanyahu’s policies."
Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
I hope you will excuse me for not wanting to continue our conversation past this point. I have no interest in speaking to someone who will not acknowledge the bias in their speech or thinking. I did not receive any ad hominem attacks neither here nor elsewhere. You are once again moving the finish line to address something that was no discussed before, which is the situation of the Druze in Golan.
Naturally, we can look at the demographic change in the Golan, while acknowledging that more and more Druze are receiving Israeli citizenship, and that the Druze community in Syria continues to face violent persecution, particularly in the wake of the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024. Both Israel and Syria experience demographic changes in their Druze communities, however, one is due to persecution, and the other is due to assimilation (minority) and / or emigration due to dissatisfaction with Israel's occupation and / or insularity, and / or collateral as part of the Hezbollah-Israeli conflict.
And once again, neither Gaza nor the West Bank are Israel's territories. These were previously Egyptian and Jordanian territories, which were then ceded to Israel (Egypt - Gaza), or conquered by Israel after 1967 from Jordan. Israel had withdrawn from Gaza, and left the Palestinians to govern themselves, which explains why conflicts between the two continue to ensue. I think we can both agree that if Israel possessed Gaza, conflicts of the nature we had seen in the last years would have not happened. In addition, the Intifadas are the direct cause behind the current state of the Israeli-Palestinian borders (Gaza and West Bank). Prior to these events, several accounts, both Palestinian and Israeli, speak of the ease with which exchanges of goods, services, people and capital ensued between the two. I think that offering a wider picture of the reason why Israelis and Palestinians are where they are now is important, academically honest and a prerequisite to taking accountability. Without accountability, there is no moving forward for a "humanitarian perspective." You are entitled to your opinion, and so am I.
EmreTaptukYunus@reddit
https://www.instagram.com/p/C30FHXgo0b1/?img_index=1
Frankly, I don't want to drag this conversation out. I stand by my point about 'hostility toward the other' being the common ground here. Have you heard of prisons like camp Bucca? They call these camps “terrorist universities” because ISIS was never really meant to have their own state, Most of these extremists were bred and conditioned in the US for an agenda, Merely to facilitate the US operations in the region.
Indeed, israel has no respect for human rights regardless of race or religion.

ISIS was an absolute monarchy. The Caliph was al-Baghdadi, that's it. There weren't going to be any elections or anything.

Lazy-Relationship-34@reddit
Jesus was a Hebrew who spoke Aramaic as his mother tongue. Jesus was born from a Hebrew, Mary, who she herself was born from Hebrews.
If you are a Christian, you'd know that Christians celebrate the entrance of Mary into the Temple and that Jesus and the apostles observed Shabbat, Passover, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which were significant to their faith, Judaism.

The IDF views the incident with great severity and emphasizes that the soldier’s conduct is wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops,” the military said.
The military said Monday afternoon that it had located the soldier depicted in the photo.
The picture was taken in the Christian village of Debel in southern Lebanon. The IDF had operated against Hezbollah in the area surrounding the community.
The incident is being investigated by the Northern Command and is being handled “through the chain of command,” the IDF said in its statement, adding that “appropriate measures will be taken against those involved in accordance with the findings.”
The Northern Command will also assist the Christian community in restoring the statue to its place, the military added.

Why are you surprised? There's no such thing as Judeo-Christian values; it's impossible because Israel and Zionists hate Jesus and consider him a false Messiah. If there is to be a value, it could be Christian-Muslim values, since Muslims believe in the second coming of Jesus
hgwxx7_foxtrotdelta@reddit
Nahh. Muslims don't view Christians as equals, Christians are dhimmi, lower than Muslims / must be under the patronage of Muslims.
Plus Muslim views of Jesus is radically different. Muslims revere Jesus strictly as a prophet, denying his divinity, crucifixion, and resurrection which are the core belief of Christianity.

Mass ethnic cleansing of Christians and other minorities all over the middle east is getting less coverage than the Israelis toppling a statue.
Are you aware of what's happening with Christians after "moderate" Jolani took over?
And no, I don't support Israel, but people look at everything they do with a magnifying class and ignore everything else in the middle east.
But yeah you're right, this deserves to be in the top news feed.
Meanwhile:
https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/christians-druze-alawites-attacked-in-al-sharaa-s-syria
North-Library4037@reddit
With your comment you're trying to downplay the atrocities Israeli soldiers and government do. Well, it's not working. They are as bad as all the organizations doing bad in the region.
If you're so interested into giving publicity to others crimes why don't you post about it instead of commenting this under posts about the other parties?
Zealousideal_Low9994@reddit
So this is equal in significance to delibrate targeting of Christians in the Middle East?
North-Library4037@reddit
The post was about vandalism Israeli soldiers do and you came here talking how others do worse. Shall we all start posting links of Israeli and others and the atrocities they do? Because there is plenty of information out there we can link.
Again, go spread information instead. If you so care...but you don't, do you? 🙄
Zealousideal_Low9994@reddit
I'm indeed pointing out the difference between a statue being toppled and mass ethnic cleansing, some of which is still going on
North-Library4037@reddit
So, I now have to link the information where it's said that Israel kills way more civilian muslims than military men and never respects the declared ceasefire or you're able to go read it by yourself? Because it has been all over the news for very long time now.
Zealousideal_Low9994@reddit
I'm aware of Israeli war crimes and how they are bombing civilian areas in their invasion. They are indeed targeting the Muslim civilian population in their attempt to destroy Hezbollah.
But if we discuss Israeli crimes specifically against Christians, I have to point out how insignificant that is compared to how other middle eastern countries have literally exterminated their own christian minorities.
Again, I'm not Israeli or an Israel fan whatsoever, but I don't have Israel myopia that makes me forget everything their neighbours did.
North-Library4037@reddit
There is no such thing as an insignificant war crimes. Israel and the rest in the region has been killing each other for a very long time and if you look in retrospect they all did their fair share. With some otside help from time to time. This isn't a game of who can do more. Stop comparing monsters. All monsters are monsters.
Zealousideal_Low9994@reddit
They all did do their fair share, and the share of crimes against Christians by Israel is very small, which is why I'm comparing the news of a jesus statue being destroyed to literal ethnic cleansing that's still happening.
Their war crimes are almost entirely directed against Muslims, and that includes the current invasion of Lebanon, which if it is targetting anyone, is targetting Shia muslims.
North-Library4037@reddit
That's why your comment was out of place here. People were discussing vandalism against Christians and you came here with Christians being killed elsewhere. Without you actually knowing how they treat those Christians. It was all about soldiers being bad people but you had to make it about Muslims killing Christians...
That's enough for me. I can see you're fixated on only one part of what's happening there. God bless!
Zealousideal_Low9994@reddit

Hefty_Jaguar4305@reddit
oh common please...You radical evangelicals have no interest in Arab Christians anyway, because they're Catholic or Orthodox. For people like you, an Arab is an Arab, regardless of whether they're Muslim or Christian.
That's a Maronite Catholic cross, and it's a shame that it's being destroyed. Why? Don't you ask yourself that?
TheETERNAL20@reddit
Lol, I ain't Evangelical nor Christian. It's not a big deal. If we're focusing all our attention primarily on a statue being destroyed rather than ensuring a ceasefire and the dismantle of Hezbollah, the end of Russias invasion into Ukraine, the world moving away from US ties and promoting companies of their own country, fixing our economies so people will have homes to live in etc
Hefty_Jaguar4305@reddit
The issue is that a sacred symbol, a holy site for Catholic Christian, was willfully destroyed by a IDF Soldier.
And that's absolutely not ok. It has nothing to do with a war.
Why are Lebanese Christians being attacked?
TheETERNAL20@reddit
It's a sacred symbol to Christianity, not to Islam or Judaism. Neither view Jesus as holy. We suspect it's IDF the outfit matches but as someone on here said it could be a false flag, could be someone disguised as an IDF we don't officially (is it more than likely an IDF soldier? Yes).
No one said it is. It's not surprising given how Jews were treated by Christians and Muslims.
The same reason civilians are attacked in these wars: collateral as for why the Statue? Probably venting their anger towards Christendom
Hefty_Jaguar4305@reddit
I knew that theories like this would emerge, claiming it wasn't an IDF.
And Jesus is a prophet in Islam, therefore holy. and in Christianity (Catholic and Orthodox) he is the son of God, savior, redeemer.
TheETERNAL20@reddit
It's not like Israel will admit this is them, but it's also jot out of the ordinary for Hezbollah to do such a thing so you're gonna see people question it. But like I said, it's more than likely an actual IDF soldier.
He's a prophet, yes, but Islam says he is not the Son of God or God himself in human flesh.

TheETERNAL20@reddit
I mean Christians and Muslims were not very kind of Jews and stole their land and tried forcing their own upon them for centuries and even those who moved to Europe or East Asia faced more persecution. Can't say I'm surprised Israelis aren't fans of either religion. And how did Jews make Islam the main enemy?
brat-mobile@reddit
To your first point, not like the jews were much better towards the pagan religions around them. To me it's a moot point since that's pretty much how most religions operate to a degree
And to your second point, something I observed when my dad was around that 'jew' and 'zionist' were often used interchangeably so it could be a language thing. The zionist movement has been around for a very long time and there really isn't a peaceful way to take land from a region and segregate it for the use of a specific demographic. The most logical (not necessarily correct or humane) way to get people to help your cause is with a common enemy. The islamic states make a good scapegoat for this purpose
TheETERNAL20@reddit
Not really since only Islam, Christianity, and Judaism were like that. Buddhism, Hinduism, and Zoroastrianism all were very welcoming of other Pagan religions. Even Greece and Rome were like this and for a time very welcoming and tolerant of the Jews. They believed their Gods were one in the same. Aphrodite was ISIS, who was Venus, Thor was Jupiter, who was Zeus, etc.
Zionism isn't really that old it's only 129 years old. There actually was a peaceful way that they did. Buy plots of land from the Ottomans to settle in. That's what they did, they didn't need to segregate and rid the Arabs who were living across from them.
Zionism didn't use Islam as a common enemy. Islam was already seen as the enemy for centuries. Christianity had viewed and been fighting Islam since their invasion into what was Christian middle east lands in the 600s.

Judge them how they are leaving millions of people homeless; killing tens of thousands of children, not to mention other civilians with unsubstantiated claims of them being unwanted casualties but still bragging about that fact on tv; warmongering that effects the whole world.
