5060, 5060 TI, or 5070?

Basically the title. I’m thinking of upgrading my 3060 to a 5060, but should I just go ahead and get a better card, or is it just going to be overspending? I’m not looking for the most insane quality, just having to upgrade to play UE5 games lol. Thanks for any help!
Opening_Evidence6360@reddit
I got a 5070, and it handles both 4K and 1440p with DLSS no problem (1440p native too).
It’s an amazing card, just wish it was 16gb over 12gb
AceLamina@reddit
Yeah I'm getting the 5070ti for the vram Going from a 2070 super
STRYED0R@reddit
Went from 2070 super to 5070. Decent upgrade but maybe I should have waited for a ti, or higher. 2070 SUPER is actually a pretty good card!
Got it new, but I think I could have gotten the ti version second hand for the same price. Bit worried of scams though.
AceLamina@reddit
Yeah Im getting the 5070ti because I'm giving my old PC to my mother, same with the GPU
STRYED0R@reddit
Mother is a gamer? :D
AceLamina@reddit
No she's into trading
STRYED0R@reddit
Awesome :) So am I.
Not sure the GPU helps tho :D
AceLamina@reddit
That's cool She mainly wants it to run multiple monitors, idk how it works
STRYED0R@reddit
Ah yes, that makes sense but it would be a bit overkill.
She could run 4 monitors with a RTX 3050 / 4060 or RX 7600
AceLamina@reddit
Probably, but she doesn't want to spend more money so I'm not going to get in her way
temblors@reddit
Hmm this is helpful, I have a 2070 super atm. Built another new system around Christmas and went with Intel B580 12GB for $200, as a cheap stopgap until I figure out what RTX card I should get. Seriously considered 5070 and still thinking this might be a good option.
STRYED0R@reddit
I loving the nvidia magic DLSS 4.5/DLDSR at 4K and the new multi frame gen, but on cyberpunk VRAM is a bit of an issue. I'm pushing it though with path tracing.
It really depends on how VRAM is treated in the future but for games like cyberpunk I do see the problem with limited VRAM.
The only modern game I play is Arc raiders, and for that the 5070 does wonders; Am actually CPU limited.
Opening_Evidence6360@reddit
That’s a good upgrade! Honestly the 9070 XT and 5070 TI are two cards I think provide the perfect balance between cost and performance
AceLamina@reddit
Yeah, I want to see what this RTX hype is about finally
Opening_Evidence6360@reddit
The software definitely is nicer on the green side. Although I will say FSR is smoother in Starfield with my 5070 than DLSS, otherwise I use DLSS in all my other games.
AceLamina@reddit
Yeah, I also might run AI locally but not sure yet
Ok_Fan_1637@reddit
yeah i love 5070 too. Last 2 months I upgraded my PC from a 3060 and was deciding between the 5060 Ti and the 5070. In the end, I went with the 5060 Ti 16GB because of my editing work and a bit of AI. The 5070 Ti 16GB version was way over my budget. Wish the 5070 had a 16GB version too.
Slydoggen@reddit
How do you like the 5060ti 16gb? I have one aswell and I’m really satisfied
Ok_Fan_1637@reddit
I’m quite satisfied with my 5060 Ti colorful. It handles rendering work well enough, and for 1440p gaming it’s decent at around 60 FPS. The main issue is that I play Wuthering Waves, and that game is pretty poorly optimized. If I had a 5070 or 5070 Ti 192bit, I’d get better FPS and ray tracing performance, and my work render video would be faster.
However, where I live, at the time i upgrade my pc, the 5070 costs about $200 more than the 5060 Ti 16GB, and the 5070 Ti is about $500 more. After two months, stupid AI and Vram price has made the 5070 Ti costs as much as two 5060 Ti GPUs.
Opening_Evidence6360@reddit
Yeah, I returned my 5080 but the 5070 handles the gap better than you’d think!
camdalfthegreat@reddit
I'm waiting for the new NTC tech, very hopeful its going to stretch this 12gb out as long as possible
digitalsmear@reddit
Why not AMD? The comparable cards beat Nvidia on dollar to performance until you get to the 5070ti, if not the 5080.
coolboy856@reddit
5060 Ti is the worst value by far, the other 2 options are fine.
Take a look at AMD's 9060 XT and 9070/9070 XT, they can be great picks, stronger raster performance per dollar
Towel4@reddit
HOW is the 5060ti a worse value than the 5060 and 5070?
It’s like, $80 more than a 5060 and has 16 gigs of VRAM?
coolboy856@reddit
That is absolutely not the case. The 5060 Ti 16gb (there is also an 8gb variant ;)) is $500+ while the 5060 is \~$330.
The 9060 XT is comparable to 5060 Ti, and the 8gb variant (which you are referring to on the 5060 Ti) is just $20 more expensive than the 5060.
Towel4@reddit
Maybe I had my 8g/16g variants mixed up
Looks like my microcenter has the 5060 8GB for $330, and the 16GB 5060 ti for $470, so not quite the “$80 difference” I was stating.
But still… $150 for double the vram? Meanwhile I’m seeing 12GB 5070’s for $580. Idk… seems kinda worth at $470 for 16GB?
This is obviously excluding any AMD argument.
coolboy856@reddit
The 5060 Ti isn't nearly as powerful, the VRAM doesn't make it a better card when you're never going to use it in the first place.
The 5070 is a capable 4k card and loses to the 5060 Ti 16gb in exactly 0 titles across all settings and resolutions: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/rtx-5070-vs-rtx-5060-ti-16gb#section-rtx-5070-vs-rtx-5060-ti-gaming-performance

Let me reframe my inquiry…
My 3090 recently died and was sent to NorthWestRepair to be brought back to life.
I’m looking for a card in the meantime. My “backup” card is currently a 2060, but it’s seriously struggling as a backup.
My logic was: I don’t want to spend TOO much on what will ultimately be a backup card for me in the future, while I hold out for a 5080ti, 5090 prices to drop, or a 60 series to release. None of these are on the horizon, so I’m left with a decision.
The 5060ti, at least in my eyes initially, seemed like a good value prop for what I was getting, understanding that “well if you just spend X more you could get ABC” exists at almost every level of video card.
A 5070 seemed like “too much” card to be a backup card, but if the price is right who am I to say no?
For what will ultimately become a backup card, do you think the 100$ extra for a 5070 is worth it? ($479.99 vs $579.99 both at my local microcenter).
coolboy856@reddit
Yep, not 5070 Ti because 150% the price ;)
karmapopsicle@reddit
5070 is roughly 40-45% faster than the 5060 Ti 16GB at all resolutions, for only 25% more money. It’s a substantially better value.
gingerou@reddit
Went from a 3080 to a 5080 its been pretty nice
Champ_X52@reddit
Do 5070Ti
prank_mark@reddit
9060 XT, 9070, or 9070 XT. The value of Nvidia cards this generation is horrible.
xisytenin@reddit
In all fairness a 9070xt is a fair bit more expensive than anything OP mentioned considering, and I say that as someone who got a 9070xt less than a week ago and is absolutely loving it.
prank_mark@reddit
The difference in the Netherlands is quite small at the moment. Cheapest 5070 = €590, cheapest 9070 XT = €670.
Brickwall75@reddit
5070ti 😎
Dangerous_Baker4427@reddit
5070
Funny-Wind4878@reddit
Save for something better, or go AMD.
Source have a 5060Ti 8Gb (199€, sure, but still...)
an_angry_Moose@reddit
The 5070 is the best choice. The 16gb on the 5060 Ti will never be better than just getting a 5070.
dimetyltryptaminn@reddit
Id get Rx 9070 xt 16gb. Competes with 5070TI but costs 200$ less. Best bang for buck rn
Doodle_bob6969@reddit
What resolution are you hoping to play at? Make that choice, and then this will be more clear
Icy_Teacher3320@reddit
skip the base 5060 entirely — going from a 3060 to a 5060 is a lateral move that’ll disappoint you. 5060 ti 16gb is the minimum worth upgrading to, gives you proper vram headroom for ue5 games which are notoriously hungry. if budget allows the 5070 is the sweet spot but the 5060 ti gets the job done without overspending
Bront20@reddit
I mean, it is an upgrade, but it's not a huge one. You want at least a 5060 TI or 5079 if you're looking to get a significant upgrade.
If you don't need the VRam right now for rendering, editing or AI, the 5070 is very good. If you're sticking to team green.
I would look at the AMD options. The 9060 XT 16GB is pretty solid. Only real weaknesses is their not great for some productivity workloads, and DLSS continuing to mature may give you more long term value, but that's entirely a gamble and all you're doing is gaming AMD has quality products right now.
Libarate@reddit
Is there a reason you havent considered AMD? They are better value for money of you are just gonna be gaming on them?
Simpingfroppai@reddit
9070 xt if you just wanna just play games, if you only want green then 5070 definitely
craaates@reddit
I just upgraded from a rx7600 8Gb to a 5060ti 16Gb and I am very happy with it in my R5 7600 build.
Huge-Attitude9892@reddit
If you got the 3060 12GB version then the 5070 would be a good choice.
We have an RTX3060 12GB/RTX5070 at home and had a 5060 before the 5070.
The performance uplift atleast in STALKER 2 was insane between the 3060/5060 at 1080p High settings. I didn't had to use DLSS upscalling or FG to get 60+ FPS.
However if you are for it,then you should check out the RX9060XT 16GB/RX9070(non XT) too.
In some countries the RX9070 is around the 5070's price range and its a littlebit stronger in raw power and got +4GB VRAM.
And for the 5060ti i would skop the 8G version completely and check out the 16GB version prices. In some countries that card have skyrocketed above unreasonable prices.
Doktorek322@reddit
had similiar decision and i got 5070, 1440p really smooth
Kotschcus_Domesticus@reddit
just get 5070. 5060ti 16 is overpriced right now
Early-Kaleidoscope45@reddit
5060ti 16gb
MichiganRedWing@reddit
What resolution are you playing at?
Ok_Fan_1637@reddit
you shouCan you be more specific about your needs? Are you purely gaming, or do you also do rendering work, or streaming? Which UE5 games are you playing specifically? What resolution is your monitor? And what’s your budget?
ComprehensiveOil6890@reddit
So all 8gb card are out.
Cultural-Force4934@reddit
5060 ti, de 16gb
