Upgrading to an I7 13700f?

Hi all,
Am currently severely CPU bottlenecked, with an R5 5500, rx6700xt and 16gb ram.
Primarily play flight sim but occasionally play Halo Infinite and others.
Found an i7 13700f for £180, with a 5yr warranty (used).
My budget is around 270 all in. What should I do?
Thanks :D

If you can fit a B760 motherboard into the budget, go for it. 13700 is very capable. Power limit it to 150W if you're gaming, it won't pull nearly as much power and it will be much easier to cool...

5800x3d is good for flight SIM and it's announced to be back in production

The 250k plus is faster in single core and substantially faster in multicore and is about the same price
DocMechanix@reddit
Not a similar price at all. It will require a motherboard and ddr5 to be purchased

You can get the new intel 250kf plus for £180 a lot faster in single core and catastrophically faster in multicore.

Why would you want a warranty on a cpu? They almost never break.
Get a 5700x3d.

13th/14th Gen Intel CPUs need it.

That 13700f deal sounds decent but you'd need a new mobo too which eats into your budget pretty quick. Honestly just grab a 5700x3d or wait for the 5800x3d restock since you're already on AM4.
Ponald-Dump@reddit
You’d need a new motherboard if you swap to a 13700f, and if you’re gonna swap motherboards you may as well go to AM5

If you can find a 5800x3d. Going Intel, you need another motherboard too.

I can find a 5700x3d for about 280used. Would this be a decent option
coolboy856@reddit
No. You could sell your current processor, motherboard and memory to get a full am5 platform upgrade with that extra 280£ for significantly more performance and 2-3 generations of upgrades

I agree with this, if you can do this I'd recommend it. I was thinking of going from 8th gen intel to a 5800x3d, decided to save some more and got an insane deal for a 7800x3d and 32gb cl36 6000MT/s ram (~$250 totalt for both, used) and then got a MOBO new for ~$170.
So I'd recommend staying cool and not rushing it.
And if you do wanna rush it I'd still wait since the 5800x3d is being produced again and is likely to drop some in price
NeelieG@reddit
apparently there is going to be a re-release of the 5800x3d for amd's 10y anniversary
VVinh@reddit
Then it's good for OP and other AM4 users.

Well youll need a new motherboard if you want to move to intel.
I would go for an ryzen 7 5700x or similar.
