I have around $500 to spend (including tax), I was looking at the 9060 XT but it’s currently at $439.99 ($473 after tax on newegg) and the 5060 Ti is at $479.99 ($515.99 after tax on amazon). My friends told me to go for the 5060 Ti unless the 9060 XT goes on a sale, is this good advice or should I just get the 9060 XT?

DO NOT GET A 5060TI. You will regret spending any money on a 5060 unless you managed to snag one of the $100 5060ti black Friday deals. Get either a 9060xt 16gb or 9070xt if your goal is simply high fps 1440p gaming. No need to waste a few hundred extra bucks for the rtx branding on the side with a 5070 or 5080, unless you can find a 5070 cheaper than a 9070xt which is unlikely. I have an xfx swift 9060xt 16gb and it runs everything at high/ultra in 1440p with no problems and undervolting it makes it even better.

get the 9700xt haha

Not with AMDs history of ditching previous generations of cards. 7000 series can't even access new stuff without a third party tool that gets you banned if you use it in multiplayer games. I have been an AMD GPU guy my entire life, I will never recommend it to anyone after that stunt. 9000 series owners about to experience the same soon which is sad.

There is zero work about what 9000 series card owners are going to experience. FSR diamond is a tech developed specifically for the next Xbox. Has nothing to do with the 9000 series cards or whatever comes after them. The amount of speculation and doomsaying is ludicrous with the complete lack of information anyone has.
It’s like looking at the DLSS 5 stuff and assuming you need the power of dual 5090s to run it because that’s what they did in the demo.
EoTrick@reddit
Your whole message totally ignores the past and what has already happened to the 7000 series. So no, it's not doom posting until they prove they will support older cards. Right now they are not in good standing in that regard and nobody should buy from them until they prove otherwise.

It is doomsaying because you have zero factual information at this point. Yes they didn’t put FSR4 for 7000 series cards but it works with optiscaler (which is super easy to use). Mind you Nvidia doesn’t have frame gen on 30 and 20 series cards but you can get it to work with optiscaler as well

agreed i hate amd graphics cards i just said it best to get a 5070 ti for max performance atp
camdalfthegreat@reddit
The ti is nearly double the price of the normal 5070 in practice though.

I’ve used a 9060 XT 16GB, 5070, 9070 XT, and a 5080 for both 1440p and 4K.
The 9060 XT handles 1440p well in the 60-100 fps range without FSR. I’d say though a 5070 or 9070 XT is better if you prefer 100-150 fps in games.
I settled on a 5070 and use DLSS at 4K, and usually native 1440p. It’s been a great card both value and performance wise.

I would save a little longer. Get a 5070 at worst or a 9070xt at best. Beyond that the price for 1440p becomes outrageous.

I would go for a 5070 if u can. Much better at 1440p.

Save a little more and get 5070 instead
