Welcome to that scary time of your life Gen-X. The oldest of you are now 61 and he was 57. The way I handled it was to keep it in perspective. Some poeple die in their teens, I remembered. Meanwhile I lived way below my means, invested every penny I could and retired at 52. When people told me that I was retiring too young I explained they must be reading different obituaries than I.

As someone who wants to retire in a few months at 44, should I hold off until my 50s? I feel too young to do this sometimes. But on paper I’m more than ready.

100% Don’t wait. Best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time, and not everyone has that particular blessing. Also you don’t have to justify it to anyone but yourself.

Sounds like a plan to me. Just know not everyone will be happy about it. Some out of envy, others out of greed. If your a guy this particularly true and your dating life may be problematic. It was for me. Men are viewed as income generators. When we decide to stop at age below the norm some have a problem with this. Even though a friend warned me, I thought women would be impressed. He was right and I was wrong.

If you have the means, do it. Enjoy your life.

So interesting that nowadays in pretty much every other context people soften the language and say someone has "passed away," but if it's a celebrity headline, then it's "Patrick Muldoon DEAD."
singleguy79@reddit
He was the one that caused Kelly and Zach to break up.

here for the SBTB nod.

Also played a role in Rico and Carmen's breakup.

I was so sad to see Patrick Muldoon passed today. I met him at Dragon Con (waaaay better than Comic Con btw). He was a blast to hang out with & I wanted to share this fun memory of him sucking out my brains 🧠

"So you think you can lick my navs" is one of my favorite movie quotes of all time

I crushed so hard when he was on Days, Carrie was the luckiest actor alive
Mugwumps_has_spoken@reddit
But Soap opera actors and actresses can never die. Austin Reed can't be dead. Only lost on some island somewhere and he will return - but have no memory.
right?
Austin and Carrie forever. At least that is how it was supposed to be.

I really need to get on stats and get my blood pressure under control, same with my husband.
I’m the last year of Gen X & it’s crazy to think this could be any of us already. 😢 My grandpa died of a heart attack at only 50.

I'm 59. Been on cholesterol and blood pressure meds for a few years. One pill in the morning and one at night. I get 90 day supplies of both so refill is easy too. Yearly blood work and that's it. Really easy stuff.
It's not a guarantee but I feel good about it.

I just saw a video of a 99 year old who still hits the gym five days a week. Crazy the cards one can be dealt.

I remember meeting him at a signing because my sister was a huge Days of Our Lives fan. He was a nice guy and terribly handsome. RIP

Thoughts and prayers for his family.
I was a die hard Days and Melrose place viewer. He was a great actor. So sad to hear.

He definitely stood out when I saw him first appear on Days. He was one of those actors that whenever I saw him, I would go down a rabbit hole and wonder what he is doing now. It was cool when he appeared in Starship Troopers and was disturbed by the way he went out in that movie.
May his memory be a blessing to his loved ones.

The brain got him in the end. RIP
