Can TA style spoilers/wings etc negatively affect a car at highway speeds?

I’m toying with the idea of building a cosplay racer, just a stock standard car but with full massive time attack style bodykit on it.
Aside from worse fuel consumption from the unneeded drag, at normal highway speeds would it affect the car in any bad or possibly dangerous way?

Downforce generates drag. Also most of those body kits can’t handle full time driving, they just crumble unless you spend some real money.

Unnecessary drag is your biggest enemy. After that I would be cautious about a large back wing. It’s effective at urban speeds, but at higher speeds it’ll cause the rear to squat and unload the front. This unloading and now catching air, is a potential trouble spot.

Depends how low it is and how soft suspension is at high speed on soft suspension ,if we talking time attack levels of downforce it will probably bottom out the stock springs , some of these time attack cars are generating a truck load of downforce as much as 6,600lbs+ at high speed more than a f1 car

with one of those huge time attack wings youd probably notice a small difference in fuel milage if you keep track of it. i dont think it would make a huge difference if you had it set at a lower degree spot on it. now if you got it running at max downforce/angle and its like 60 degrees and its mid or rear engine youd probably notice it. if its front engine and at a lower angle youre probably not gonna notice much or at all at a normal speed limit. if you do notice anything, its a good excuse for front valance/lip to match or some canards.

You’ll need to add a rider to your car insurance if you want it covered in a crash where you’re at fault.

Are you asking if down force will affect a car at high speed?

Generally speaking, no. You'll actually feel the difference at highway speed when a deep front airdam is fitted to a 'lifty' front end, and the change in feel will be for the better in terms of stability. A modest deck spoiler likewise can contribute a small but noticeable effect at highway speed, but I wouldn't fit a rear spoiler without also fitting a front spoiler. Flares, no real difference dynamically aside from increased drag.
