Bald since I was 23. I didnt even get a chance to have a rebellious Mullet phase.
MockeryAndDisdain@reddit
How bald are you? Mine started receding at about nineteen. Bald/thin on top. I'm a month and a half into not shaving my head, turns out the hair on the sides and back is thick. I've decided I'm going to rock a skullet. I'll start shaving the top down to skin again in a few months.
I've also quit shaving/grooming my facial hair. I'm gonna combine the skullet with the sort of beard only a person that would try to bum some spare heroin off ya would wear.
Every adventure is better with friends. Join me on this quest, brother.
WhysAVariable@reddit
Bit thinner at the crown but otherwise it's all there. My moms side of the family, her dad and her six brothers, is full of guys who were bald by the time they were 25-30, so I never expected it to last this long. Paternal grandpa was bald too but my dad still has it all in his 60's, so I must have gotten that from him. Plenty of grey in my beard but on my head I only have a few slivers of grey at the windows peak.
Living-Video-3670@reddit
Mine is just starting to head north some. I cant complain as my maternal grandfather was bald before he was 30, and im going on 42.
tuberlord@reddit
I started taking finasteride about a year and a half ago. I've regained about half of what I lost. I understand that it doesn't always work though.
Plus-Pomegranate8045@reddit
The hair started going at about 23. Almost ready to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of my hair abandoning me.
BeanerSchnitzel38@reddit
Not to be a hater, but I think there's some denial with \~40% of the vote going to full head of hair/no change haha.
HumansMustBeCrazy@reddit
If this statistic valid?
"Hair loss is extremely common in men, affecting approximately 30%–50% of men by age 50 and up to 80% by age 70."
CalgaryChris77@reddit
How is this defining hair loss? Because at least thinning occurs in way more than 50% of men by age 50.
BeanerSchnitzel38@reddit
Unfortunately, I think that's the truth. Even if you're fortunate enough to not have a receding hairline, the thinning is inevitable for most.
VaticRogue@reddit
I was thinking that too. I know out of all the guys I know my age or randomly see out, most are in worse off shape than I am, and I put receding
BeanerSchnitzel38@reddit
Same!
enek101@reddit
i men i started shaving my head 20ish years ago because i was sick of paying for hair cuts but its definitely receding
ASomthnSomthn@reddit
I still have a full head of hair, but the gray hairs are really taking over at this point.
Santos_L_Halper_II@reddit
I've got good hair genes on both sides. I'm 44 with no change in the amount/thickness and the only greys are in my beard.
heresmytwopence@reddit
Happily shaved bald since 39. The George Costanza look doesn't suit me and my wife loves me being bald.
LiGuangMing1981@reddit
Starting to get a bit of grey on the sides, but no change in quantity.
Male baldness doesn't really run in the family on either my mom's or my dad's side.
Shortbus_Playboy@reddit
Looks virtually the same as it always has. I’ve got a few random grays in there but that’s it.
I lucked out genetically and got my dad’s hair - he turned 74 in December, no balding whatsoever, and only recently started going salt & pepper with the gray.
thunderlips36@reddit
I don't see it as losing hair, but gaining forehead. Always look on the bright side
cancerdancer@reddit

syahir77@reddit
I still has full black hairs. I shampoo less, once a week and use very little shampoo, usually after one hour of castor oil. I seldom grow one string of white hair, but I would never pull it out.
rjcpl@reddit
Lucked out on the genetics there. Still a full head of thick hair. No baldness in the family.
EliteCheddarCommando@reddit
Thick and full as it’s always been..except for the Quarter sized spot of bald/thinning hair on the top middle of my head..ugh
jbt55@reddit
Started getting real light around age 37 right down the middle. I shave it now so am the typical bald guy with a beard.
illprobablyeditthis@reddit
Woman here. We also lose our hair, just FYI.
I started buzzing it in my mid 30s.
legsjohnson@reddit
my ponytail condenses to the circumference of my thumb lol
illprobablyeditthis@reddit
Yup. A hair stylist first commented on the thinning in my 20's. By the time it got to a point where I couldn't hide it anymore, my "messy bun" was the size of a quarter.
OllieFromCairo@reddit
My window's peak has gotten more intense, and the hairline in the front and the crown is a bit thinner, but it's hanging in there. We will see what the next 10 years brings.
emptybeetoo@reddit
Hanging in there
MydniteSon@reddit
Full head of hair still....but first gray hair showed up at 19....I'm now very salt n' pepper hair color.
Mike__O@reddit
I got out of the Air Force in '18 (Age 35). I figured "sweet, I can finally grow my hair out a bit". Jokes on me, it started falling out. Now I've got a pretty significant bald spot in the back, and it's pretty thin across the whole top.
Striking-Access-236@reddit
Hairline migrated north and some considerable thinning in the Arctic circle, so I shave my head with clippers or totally smooth with a razor.
Pairs good with my salt & pepper beard and stylish thick rimmed glasses :)
Clear_Tangerine5110@reddit
Full head of hair at almost 47, but I buzz it down with a #1 guard every few weeks because I hate brushing it. It doesn't cooperate. There might be 1 in every 8 days where I brush it and it actually looks good. Otherwise I look in need of housing.
jar36@reddit
can also buzz it down myself for free. saving time and money
jar36@reddit
at 51 mine is just a little thinner, but even my family doesn't notice. They all say I still have a full head of hair.
It went grey by 34 tho
FiveTaken@reddit
I lost it at 22 so it’s sort of funny seeing people freak now.
SensitiveArtist@reddit
I gave in and shaved it after the widows peak got real bad
Tofuloaf@reddit
I shaved my head down to a zero for about 15 years from my early 20s on. In my mid-30s I grew it back because I have a significant chance of baldness from my mother's side so I figured I should have one last hurrah just in case. Last year I shaved it off again because going to a barber all the time was annoying as shit.
Notchersfireroad@reddit
Still have a pretty much full head of hair but I hate my hair and have been shaving it since 6th grade. I could go bald and never notice.
Traditional_Entry183@reddit
Same amount of hair as ever, thankfully. My dad too at 73.
All five of my male cousins are totally bald because they got it from their dad's sides and it was pointed out that I was the odd one over Christmas when we got together.

What’s with odd polls taking over this sub
PackageNorth8984@reddit (OP)
As of now, out of the last 25 posts, there are 2 polls, including mine. This is also not a weird question to ask of 40-50 year olds, IMO, but I respect your disagreement.
puer_mendax_00@reddit
Why is “results” an option in the poll?
Electronic-Rise1859@reddit
That's not a receding hairline, that's thigh marks
illinoishokie@reddit
Halfway down my back
New_Let_2494@reddit
Heading to get transplants done soon I think. Consultation on Friday!
RattusNikkus@reddit
My hair is thinner than it was when I was a kid, but you'd be hard-pressed to notice! I have a Tom Baker-esque tumbleweed of curls, and the main difference now is that my hair being slightly lighter has just made it even more curly!
seamonkey420@reddit
def starting to recede here. however gonna give that HIMs pill a try that others mentioned in the prev poll/post. figure for $1/day why not try. if not, time to start looking at new haircuts or hats. hehe
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
Full head of hair. It just looks different when it's genetics and not pills/rogaine. 🙂
Funkopedia@reddit
I actually feel like I have more hair. It's getting pretty damn white though.
Brock_Savage@reddit
Full head of hair that I always keep short. My hairline receded a tiny, barely noticeable bit in my early 30s but it is otherwise unchanged from when I was younger.
-threefeetoffun@reddit
No change from when I was 18 but I have always had a 5 head.
One-Earth9294@reddit
Always had the high 'wings' but that's the same hairline from when I was a kid. And hilariously my friends used to tease me say that I looked like I was going bald back then.
