Ryzen 7 7800x3d at 320 euro or 9800x3d at 450 euro,paired with rtx 5070 for 1080p/2k gaming

Hello,I am in the process of upgrading my pc in the next few months
I have rtx 5070,and I am unsure whether to buy the 7800x3d,as the price seems very good, and I don t know if the prices will drop or not,and don t know if it s worth it to get 9800x3d for 130 euro more
I will also be getting 32gb or 64gb of ram, depending on the ram price
I will be gaming in 1080p,and maybe will switch to 2k
I have no problem using dlss/frame generation, and I will be playing some new games sometimes, like the new metro that was announced, gta 6,but I mostly play cs go,fornite, gta 5
Is the performance difference worth the price for the 9800x3d?
ajackson5888@reddit
What games do you play and what’s your target FPS?
alii98@reddit (OP)
cs go,fortnite,gta 5,new games also,like the new metro,gta 6
just above 60 fps for the new games
for the other games,i want them to be smooth,in cs go i want to avoid stutters, and as much fps as possible, but i don t know if the 9800x3d is worth the difference in price for the little performance
i played resident evil 9 with dlaa, ray tracing high, shadows low (racoon city was horrendous for my fps) and fg x3,it was very enjoyable, and my i5 9400f stood up really good considering the bottleneck

7700X3D is all you need id say
alii98@reddit (OP)
yeah,I think I will do this
in Romania the 7800x3d seems much cheaper than amazon, and I think it would be dumb to miss this
Roda_Leon@reddit
7800x3d is still one of the best gaming CPU on the market. The only downside is that you need to have beefy cooler
alii98@reddit (OP)
i will get the best noctua cooler i can find, that should be enough
MagicMaverick22@reddit
Why not the 9800 for the price difference and no need for a cooler like that. 7800 is still great tho. I cool mine with a single tower burst assassin 120 vision with arctic 3000rpm fans, never goes above 84 celsius even in shader compilations. Just food for thought.
alii98@reddit (OP)
The difference between coolers is 30 euro
The difference between CPUs is 130 euro
Tests on YouTube don t show that much performance, also considering the GPU will be weaker
MagicMaverick22@reddit
Oh, I got the Burst Assassin for 40 bucks, best Noctuas are 200. Well, yeah, if that is the case ...
Roda_Leon@reddit
I got peerless assassin 120 SE with screen at it is enough for me tho it can get quite noisy, but temts are good
alii98@reddit (OP)
i think i will also go with this one,it s 3 times cheaper than the noctua nh-d15
A3377@reddit
On cs I get 500-650 with 7800x3d and 4080 super it's definitely a enough and not far behind the 9800x3d
MagicMaverick22@reddit
For 1080p go with the 9800X3D
Abhijeet0123@reddit
7800x3d for 5070 is enough
f1rstx@reddit
Get 7700/9700x, don’t overspend on CPU for no reason
alii98@reddit (OP)
it s 20 euro difference between the 7800x3d and the 7 7700,and 8 euro between the 9700x and the ryzen 7800x3d
i don t think that price difference is worth the performance
f1rstx@reddit
Get 7800 then, good price
SweetBacon923@reddit
Don't waste budget on 64gb ram it won't make any performance difference.
If you picked 7800x3D and 32GB RAM and not 64. instead of 5070 you can probably fit 9070xt in your budget.
alii98@reddit (OP)
i already have the rtx 5070
and will probably stick to 32gb
Dorennor@reddit
7800x3D.
junu-munu00@reddit
the 7800x3d is the smartest choice for this build. hierarchy benchmarks confirm it easily pushes maximum frames in competitive shooters and handles heavy single player games without bottlenecking a 5070 at any resolution. the performance jump to the 9800x3d is simply not worth the extra cash for your specific parts. definitely stick to 32gb for your system memory right now. the global ddr5 shortage is absolutely brutal and going for 64gb will completely wreck your budget. keep the 7800x3d and 32gb combo then use the savings to grab a solid 1440p monitor.
alii98@reddit (OP)
yeah,that s what i m gonna do
hopefully ram prices crash, otherwise I will just get 32gb for now,as it s not that big of a deal for gaming
butcherboi91@reddit
No. This is especially so if you're pairing it with a 5070. It's they're something specific as to why you want NVidia? If not I'd suggest you look at the 7800x3d and a 9070xt but if you are at on 5070 I don't think you need an x3d chip at all.
alii98@reddit (OP)
I like nvidia much much more
I had rx 580 and
VersaceUpholstery@reddit
With a 5070, and at 1440p, I would think a 7800x3d is definitely enough
deTombe@reddit
7800X3D, 2x16GB 6000 CL36 and a 1440P monitor. Use the Nvida app to optimize graphics. Don't be afraid to try DSR on some games.
