Bob Ross to the rescue

My son has a friend sleeping over who was having trouble sleeping and was having some anxiety about it. We said “ what about a super relaxing show to sleep to? “
Popped on some bob ross for him, and he was out halfway through the first painting. I think Bob Ross would be thrilled to know his work was helping kids through anxiety attacks all these years later.

The clip with Bob Ross feeding PeaPod the baby squirrel 🥹 it reminds me of the good in the world.

Bob Ross's pocket squirrel is the best antidote to despair there is.

I had to work on some projects, so I turned on Bob Ross from 10:00 p.m. until about 4:00 a.m. Even though I don't need to stop and look very often, I still found myself watching so much of each episode! Then the beginning of one of them, Bob comes out with a helper and four baby squirrels and feeds them on screen. I wish he was here so that I could send him a letter about how much happiness he has brought me in my lifetime 💜🌳🎨

Thank you!!! That made my day!

Bob Ross is sooooo relaxing..... until you get hit with the brush cleaning jump scare!
dinosandbees@reddit
Terrified me and woke me right up the first few times! Luckily, it's something you do get used to

Also a favorite go-to when I can't sleep. He's so soothing! Have also put the show on in the background whenever anyone (myself included) needs a calming presence. So great.

When I was a kid I was not allowed much TV. But come Sunday afternoon if the weather outside was bad, low and behold we were allowed to watch PBS and Bob Ross. 99% of the time my siblings and I ended up asleep on the living room floor.
My parents figured out this nap hack in the mid to late 80's.... happy to see it still works.

I was a pbs kid myself. I loved Bob Ross and Mr Roger’s. I didn’t have a lot of guidance as a kid and I learned so much from Mr Roger’s shows from how to properly shampoo my hair to learning how to crayons are made.
lalacourtney@reddit
Me too! I feel like my single mom’s choice to make me watch PBS and not get cable helped me become a better person.
Awkwardpanda75@reddit
💯 agree with you on this. I recently watched the Mr Roger’s remake recently and caught myself feeling some pretty big emotions. Did a deep dive on him and maybe I am being optimistic, but everything about that man was pure kindness.
TangledUpPuppeteer@reddit
I heard there was that one time he sneezed while talking to someone and blessed himself! How could he???
Yeah, I made that up. He was amazing.

I was at a bar a couple weeks ago that had Bob Ross on in the background, the sound wasn’t even on but man it’s mesmerizing to watch those happy little trees take shape

The restaurant my boyfriend manages always has Bob Ross on at least 1 of their bar TVs. He's become their unofficial mascot - they have figurines of him around the bar and everything.

There used to be a boba tea spot in my city called Happy Little Teas. With a name like that, business should have been booming.

My teenaged boys just went to a friends to hangout. They put on bob ross in the background and painted together while shooting the shit. They loved it.

My mother thought I was weird for watching Bob Ross as a kid, but this year for my birthday my dad sent me a Bob Ross Secular Saint candle.
My Dad gets me.

I don't paint canvases, just small wood projects and every time I clean my brushes I think of Ross and his method of beating "the devil out of it"

For the fans, if you're ever in Muncie, IN you can visit the Bob Ross Experience . I've been a few times and it's really cool.

Bob Ross helped me through the early days of the pandemic. Really soothing for anxiety.

About 10 years ago Bob Ross was popular fodder for YTP'ers. Some of the sentence mixing is great.

I loved watching Bob Ross with my dad when I was a kid. I was mesmerized watching him create beautiful paintings in an hour!
My husband was on a work trip a few years ago and he got me a Bob Ross stuffie. He's so cute! We had a calendar last year with some of his paintings.
DetroitsGoingToWin@reddit
Me and the kids have painted to Bob Ross. Guess what, all three of my kids can paint.

The nest naps of my life were while watching Bob Ross
distant_diva@reddit
he does have a very soothing, calm voice & demeanor

I recently experienced a very extreme trauma that has rendered my usual favorite background noise, Forensic Files, a little unbearable emotionally. I was frantically flipping thru looking for something else when I saw a channel just showing Bob Ross marathon. Felt like he was coming to gently calm me from beyond.
Disgruntled_marine@reddit
Asking to watch Bob Ross was how my daughter would let me know she was tired when she was younger.
Shortyl@reddit
Bob Ross should be bottled and distributed to the stressed masses! I love him and he always calms me down.
Malicious_Tacos@reddit
I love Bob Ross! I used to watch his show whenever I could as a kid, and my parents used to say it was boring.
I always found him to be peaceful.
short-term@reddit
My dentist office has televisions on the ceiling that play Bob Ross episodes while you get your teeth cleaned. I think for kids they show Bluey or some such. The sound is off but the captions are on. Makes it a bit harder to learn, but after just seventeen more checkups I should be able to paint a happy tree.
Square_Manufacturer2@reddit
Same! I put on Bob Ross for all of my kids during nap time and works every time.
maggie320@reddit
Bob Ross and Highway to Heaven were instant naps for me.
GeetarEnthusiast85@reddit
Heh. I like to watch Bob Ross too when I'm having trouble sleeping. He's so calming, between his voice, the sounds of his brushes touching the canvas and watching him create a beautiful picture. He was amazing.
Greedy_Practice_5327@reddit
Bob helps my husband sleep too.
The_best_is_yet@reddit
I love this so much ❤️
PetalFlirtie@reddit
Next thing you know, he'll wake up asking for a fluffy cloud and some happy little trees for breakfast!
