E-bike changed how far I’m willing to ride

Before, anything over 10km felt like a lot of effort. Now I don’t even think about it. I just ride and suddenly I’m far from home without feeling tired. Did your riding distance change too after getting an e-bike?

Yeah same here; it kinda removes that mental barrier of “can I make it back?” I just ride without overthinking it now. Appreciate you sharing this, it’s cool seeing how much it opens things up for people.

I find I can work a lot harder. I turn the assist down (or off) and ride until I'm all tuckered out. Then I let the throttle do the work for a bit. I never worry about how far I am from home. The throttle will carry me home if I'm out of steam.
With a pedal bike I was always calculating how I would retain enough energy to get back home.

I have fat tyres bike,so I need big effort to ride without electric support, I can,but is very hard,on hills,no way...

Same here, 4 inch fattie, no change go over 5km/h on flat if battery runs out🤣

It's this completely. I have documented this too....I just stopped worrying about anything other than is the bike charged. My kids want to go for a ride? Sure. Whole family? Yep. Couple avid biker buddies that want to ride. I just go now. I don't mind th distances or the terrain. Do I get weird looks on trails at times? Sure. But I'm not being an asshole and flying at high speeds. I'm.pedalling and getting a little assist through anything that tuckers me out too hard and I just recover and then start pedalling again. I try to stay out of the elitists way lol. It's the best. I have lost 60 lbs and ride so much now. Whereas when I had exclusively my mountain bike...I was dodging riding because of how hard/dangerous it was for me as a big rider. Add that to the limited distances and trails I was willing to go. I was not riding often.

This is exactly what ebikes offer at their best, along with effective and useful transportation. The industry is starting to realize this and create some products that are not ridiculously priced, are actually nice to ride, and include a rational amount of e-support with useful range. I'm excited for the possibilities as rational e-biking becomes accepted as opposed to the moto-ebike craze that gets so much negative attention.

Absolutely. It also made weather not such a big deal. I got good rain gear and footwear which allows me to ride all winter. I put studded tires on and lower the seat post for ice and snow.

Ofcourse, I live in Village, and whenever I must go to the other Villages, i'm there for a few minutes, before, with big effort...👍

I struggled going 1 mile on a pedal bike. 2nd outing on ebike was 22 miles and a 3 hr journey. I just wanted to keep going until I ran out of path.

On a regular bike I would struggle doing the same but on a mountain bike I could easily do 10+ miles. But even a mountain bike in pedal assist mode changed a lot for me. I was able to get to the next county over (which is almost 30 miles for me) and has changed my life because of it.

I live in a very hilly area so the longest I could ride on a normal bike was like 15 minutes around my neighbourhood. With my ebike I regularly do 20-40km per trip.
