I’m in my homebody era

My favorite weekend activity at this stage of life is getting stoned, putting in earbuds, and puttering around the yard doing my little projects! Is it just me?
_____AMOK_____@reddit
I stopped hiking. It was my only passion. I said I’d die if I couldn’t hike in the past. I feel dead. Nothing is fun anymore
SubstanceNo1544@reddit
Late 40s checking in. I like to putter around the yard and do that stuff..honestly though chilling with my homies in an online game is where its at. We get to hang out without having to pay a bunch of money to hang out (ie:the bar)
Allureme@reddit
You can’t use “putter around” and “chilling with the homies” in the same paragraph. I’m not sure if you’re 80 or 40 lol
SubstanceNo1544@reddit
47 like my usrd...
Allureme@reddit
But you can’t take jokes
Fickle_Wrangler_7439@reddit
Yes. It's just you. You're the only homebody that has ever existed.
Tbh, I had social anxiety when I was young, so I missed out on a lot of those experiences. I got out a ton now to try and make up for that.
GetrIndia@reddit
Mine is getting stoned and reading books in my hammock when it's finally warm out.
Allureme@reddit
I’m with you there. I get lost longer in a book that way.
SirStocksAlott@reddit
Mine is getting stoned and getting stoned.
GetrIndia@reddit
Well it is 4/20 eve.
Allureme@reddit
I know we’re getting up there but “puttering around the yard” says old old lol
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Haha for sure! I I’ve become a putterer, and when I stand up from sitting I make all the noises. I am old lady now 😆
Allureme@reddit
Next you’re going to tell my you like to tinker 😂😂
Leilani3317@reddit
You're not alone. Puttering is literally my greatest source of enjoyment. On weekends I make my coffee, I put on my grandpa-style sweater, and I wander around my yard just looking at stuff. Sometimes I don't even do a project. This weekend I finally put up a clothesline that I've been meaning to get to and it just made me so stupidly happy.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
That sounds like a good time to me! It’s funny how the littlest things bring so much satisfaction.
dzuunmod@reddit
Making pasta. Exactly this but making homemade ravioli and tortellini.
Middle_Function2529@reddit
I used to be the type to have something planned every single night of the week. Just a few years ago. But you cannot drag me out of my home these days. It’s my absolute favorite place. My smoke, my music and my books. The water view out my window that I never take for granted. Cook and nap. Like, don’t even knock because I’m not answering
hi984390@reddit
I have a mountain view and feel exactly the same. I’ll be here drinking my coffee, reading, playing Stardew valley and looking out the window thanks!
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Sounds like a slice of heaven on earth!
shrimp_flyrice@reddit
Happy 420 btw.
AnElectricalMeatbag@reddit
"Why would I go out? I pay good money to live here. I want to get my money's worth of home!" - me, justifying being a homebody and never going out.
So, no. Not just you!
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
💯
Similar_Sale_5136@reddit
Who knew our generation was such stoners???
WonderMew@reddit
Me and my husband call it "hermiting". Some days, you just need to stay home and have no other human contact to rebalance and breathe. The pandemic was awful, but the staying home and not interacting with outside people part? I'd been training for that my whole life.
"I need to hermit today" is a perfectly valid excuse in our house to bow out of planned outings, events, etc.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Right?! I kinda secretly loved the quarantining part of Covid era.
Similar_Sale_5136@reddit
And I loved going out in it bc there was no people out. I still was allowed to work. But having the family home all the time was pretty great.
optimaloutcome@reddit
Not me. I'm out the door most weekend days by 7am to mountain bike. Usually I meet a friend or two, sometimes solo. I go early so I can be done early and then shower/change and be ready to spend time with the family. If the weather is rainy and/or super cold I skip the bike ride and some days we'll all just stay in and game/watch movies. Those are nice days in the moment but come Monday I always feel kinda down; I like my time out in the woods.
LLcoolDZ@reddit
You are not alone, friend
sleepy_unicorn40@reddit
I've been staying home more too. But I turn on my audiobook and have been working on DIY projects. I just painted one of the bedrooms. This coming weekend I'm painting my husband's office. I've got paint chips and wallpaper samples on their way. I am ready to have my dream house.
UnicornMeatball@reddit
Yeah, but my wife always wants to go "places" to do "things" and visit with…ugh…"people"
rearwindowpup@reddit
Wife got me bluetooth earmuffs for yardwork and theyve been a game changer. Can listen to music while mowing or running the blower without earbuds getting crammed in.
eejjkk@reddit
What brand and what are you listening to? I have some Apple AirPod Pros and they keep trying to figure out how to noise cancel against the lawnmower and it's aggravating AF!!
rearwindowpup@reddit
I listen to bluegrass and classical (big russian marches especially), earmuffs are off brand specials but work great.
Hndlbrrrrr@reddit
Just get some sounding dampening ear covers. I used them over my regular AirPods while mowing on big ass zero turn machine and could hear podcasts just fine.
something like this is cheap and works great.
ki11a11hippies@reddit
Get the Bose earmuffs, which are super comfy and have great noise cancellation. Beats hurt like hell.
Primary-Strawberry-5@reddit
I love an edible, noise canceling headphones, doom metal, and mowing the yard
instant_ramen_chef@reddit
I read this as "Homeboy era"
Horale, ese. Folks our age move out the varrio, no into it. Just remember, the higher the socks, the downer the foo.
________76________@reddit
AM I the only one who can't smoke weed anymore? I used to smoke an 1/8th a day for years, and suddenly my body and brain rejects it. Doesn't matter what strain. Now I just use CBD.
arrriah@reddit
Im now 31 today, it was my birthday. I have a 3 year old and one of my favorite activities is hanging out at home with my kid however watching my kid play at the park is Cool 😎 too.
SanderFCohen@reddit
I'm definitely in this groove. A little bit of something nice, radio or podcast in the background, and pottering about the house doing my leatherwork.
midlifeShorty@reddit
No way. I love my house, but being home too much is a one way ticket to depression for me. My house is filled with a million little project and cleaning tasks I don't want to do. Going to Istanbul soon and I can't wait to get out of here for a bit.
DirtyBirdDawg@reddit
Same here, but mine is listening to music while cleaning. Edibles have my house absolutely fucking spotless.
Deep-Interest9947@reddit
Why can’t this happen to me?
elektrik_noise@reddit
Right? Same. I can barely order a pizza if I'm stoned. And if the edible is too weak, it's like what's the point. But then if it gets me legit stoned I'm stoned for too long.
magster823@reddit
Different strains make a huge difference. Sativa can have an energizing effect and Indica the opposite, for most people.
Though for me, Sativa makes me go dark and have panic attacks. If you're clinically depressed it can have that effect. And Indica energizes me and elevates my mood. I stick with mostly hybrids because I like to be more chill.
It's really a trial and error process, with all the different content ratios and brands on top of the strains. It's taken me a long time to dial it in for the most part.
_Im_at_work@reddit
You are taking too much. You gotta find your dose. It took some tries but I came in right around 5 MG. My wife can only do 1.5 MG. Start small and stick to one dose, whatever size, per night. If you feel like it’s not doing anything, don’t take more. Ride it though and see what 2 MG does for you. If it’s not doing anything, the get to 3 mg. And then you can find out how long it lasts as well.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Yep. Trial and error. 10 mg is my sweet spot for being creative and productive. Anything more than 15 and I’m glued to the bed unable to function lol.
HomelessKitchenCat@reddit
Yeup. I smoked a lot throughout my life but now its only sometimes. Everything is so strong i only take 1-2mg or take the tinies little puff i can manage from my one hitter. Usually the amount that seems kind of silly small is the exact right amount.
bmfward@reddit
Great advice here. I'm 47 and postKidz edible means I will need caffeine or prepare to want to rest by hour 3 of 4 (and I used to be a budtender). I say find your best dose of edibles, yes, but better yet get the by dry herb vaping flower, dial it in, strain style, terpemes, enjoy.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Haha I feel that!
onedrrboy@reddit
This is as relatable as it gets and I’m at peace with it. I gave up booze a few years ago and I still make it a point to join my boys for the golf trips, Vegas weekends, and the random concert every now and then, but the domesticated life finally feels like it fits just right. I wanna keep making my house “MY” house and spend time showing my kids everything I can while they’re still interested in what I have to say. Who knows…if I keep putting the effort into my wife and kids, maybe I can stay interesting? :)
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
100% agreed! Sounds like you have the perfect balance.
JeffTS@reddit
What I wouldn't give to get out of my house and just live. Between Covid and then being caregiver for an elderly parent with dementia, I'm so tired of being a homebody.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
So sorry 😞 Hang in there! I hope for good times ahead for you!
Godawgs1009@reddit
I miss getting stoned. It makes me super anxious anymore and the joke is on me because I can get all i want for free. Used to scrounge money for a dime bag lol
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Oh sad!
Al-ex-Bee@reddit
This is exactly my vibe. My neighbors often complement me on my green thumb and diligence in plant care. If these seniors knew the real secret… you’d think the 6 ft cannabis plant growing in my yard would tip them off.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Haha for sure! Probably all the nicest yards on the block are all xennial stoners 😆
jacabasselope@reddit
I just got a pellet smoker. Just been getting high in the backyard, listening to music, reading, and cooking meat. It's glorious.
sunchasinggirl@reddit (OP)
Sounds amazing!
JamesMattDillon@reddit
I never left, I just don't get high anymore. But I am still a homebody
the_ballmer_peak@reddit
I definitely spent a lot of time getting stoned during Covid. It caught up with me, though. Now I do it exactly once a month.
onthestickagain@reddit
That is idyllic af, my man. Thank you for such a lovely scene.
the_ballmer_peak@reddit
Aw, shucks. I'll resist the urge to talk about all the things that suck. Hope you're well.
Eclectic_Paradox@reddit
Me and the husband partooketh of the spicy lettuce and went for a walk on a trail behind our neighborhood today. That's as far as I want to travel away from home.
tres-vip@reddit
I went from being a social butterfly who was always out and about, to becoming a homebody, lol. This transformation happened during COVID. It used to be rare that I'd spend one whole day at home, but today, I did just that (and made myself pizza and had a porter beer with it, yum).
O_o-22@reddit
Ah nope I love just hanging around the house with my projects and hobbies to do. Where before I’d feel compelled to hang out with friends when invited every time I’ve started saying no more often just because I’d rather be at home being “boring” even tho I’m not bored at all lol.
taskforceslacker@reddit
Man, I thought the years had to end me introvert. I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s cool being a hermit. High five!
Fixyblue@reddit
NOPE
Wak3upHicks@reddit
I never left it. All my stuff is here and I don't like outside
impliedapathy@reddit
It’s so… people-y out there too
leviathynx@reddit
My twin.
Wak3upHicks@reddit
impliedapathy@reddit
100% not just you 😂
SilverAsparagus2985@reddit
I’ve always been a homebody but like I realllllyyy enjoy it now. I’m not into yard maintenance anymore but I do love to dance-clean, dance-cook, play my solo games and whatever the heck else I would like.
Ishvale@reddit
I need to know, is dance code, or literal?
No_Fun_7068@reddit
I used to be very social. Now a great weekend is sitting in the sun, enjoying a gummy and not leaving my house. I finally got a zero gravity chair and have been loving it.
I went out yesterday for the first time in a while. It was fun but I enjoyed coming back home and laying on my couch.
Imnotonthelist@reddit
I had a rough week, including some painful dental work. I got high on gabapentin and putzed around the garden for like 4 hours
sarahzilla@reddit
I take a large dose before bed. But if I don't actually sleep I do weird things. Cleaning or shopping are the two main things. Then I start getting weird deliveries and I know I made some bad decisions. Lol.
Gabapentin is great.
Dicky_Penisburg@reddit
You merely adopted the home style. I was born in it.....molded by it.
lavasca@reddit
If I’m like my grandma I will never have one.
I’m still trying to recover from lockdown.
My hat is off to you, though.

WhatTheCluck802@reddit
I would be perfectly thrilled to never leave my home ever. With the possible exception for going to concerts.

I didn't think Xennials had "eras"? We just do what we do as we want to do them. If we do, I'm pretty sure I'm in my "Build all the things I didn't have the money or time to build the way I wanted to in my 20s." era.
icanhaztuthless@reddit
Coitus_lnterruptus@reddit
Mine is getting stoned and listening to records.
Abpoe77@reddit
Did you do Record store day? We went for lunch and hit the record store for a few hours yesterday. I'm no longer getting stoned but waiting for the day I can.
Coitus_lnterruptus@reddit
No, I'm in a big city with only a few stores. There were a few things I wanted, but sleep and not standing in a long line took priority.
Abpoe77@reddit
I walked outside 3 times today. Take out the recycling. Take out the litter box to clean it. Took the trash to the curb. Yes we went thrifting and vinyl shopping for a few hours yesterday but yeah we stay home.
Yellow_Curry@reddit
lol none of you have kids cause mine is driving all over town for sports and other activities.
caramelcoldbrew@reddit
Husband took the kids to MILs and I’m celebrating a rare afternoon alone by getting high, ordering in Mexican, and reading my smut book of the day. Perfect day.
