Is a dedicated rifle tripod really worth it at 1000 dollars vs a diy build?

It’s 556 so it’s very enjoyable to shoot. It will be my coyote rifle later this year.

For hard use? Yeah a dedicated tripod is better. Light enough to pack. Sturdy enough to press into to stabilize.
I'm not knocking a cheap one to shoot off of for shits but if you're trying to stretch out to 600 or more or you're rucking into positions you'll want a better tripod.

I recently got an RC2 to Arca adapter for an old Manfrotto tripod I had collecting dust in the closet. Tripod is pretty beefy and after a short range trip, it held up to the recoil on a 7 PRC rifle weighing in at 11 lbs loaded. Only fired 8-10 rounds because its all the ammo I had with me (went to shoot my ARs and brought this along last minute to try it out) but it held up alright so far.
For reference, I got it off Amazon for under $30 and believe its made of the finest and most pure Chinesium $30 can buy.

You really don’t need to pay even half that for a quality tripod. Not everybody needs RRS and even stuff like 2 vets or Fatboy is overpriced. Leofoto or similar will be more than enough for most of us.

Xamorest. Got it off of Amazon for like 25 bucks. There is a few of them on there for that price. I was just guessing and I did drill into original camera mount to install a random bolt from the garage. It’s snug as a bug

Swamp Fox probably just as expensive as magpul. It’s a little beefier, I have never had any issues with the mag.
