Instrument Stage 3 Flight Plan (KSBA to KVNY)

I was given this route (KSBA to KVNY) for my stage 3 oral exam flight. Is there anything special I should know about this route they might “get” me on? Thanks!

Run through NWKRAFT and see what you come up with. By stage 3 I'm assuming you're at mock oral stage this is to see if you're going to get violated on your first instrument flight.
If we do your homework you won't know the answer to the far more important question above

Ditto on the TEC routes. Look them up and understand how they work. Look at the approaches available at VNY and make a decision about which one to expect then look at the two routes again and figure which one leads you to the IAP for the expected approach.

Just do your due diligence. What time are you flying at? Are any approaches NOTAM’d out? Do you have the required equipment? Do you need an alternate? What are departure minimums for the procedures you’d be flying? What approach are you planning? Anything on the approach charts that is a cause for concern?
