5500x3d or 10th anniversary 5800x3d?

Looking for opinions on whether the wait is worth it as recently the 5500x3d has come to the UK for ~£180.
I mainly play Deadlock and source engine games. Some physics modelling bits as well. Is the 5800x3d worth waiting to see the price. Would the upgrade be that substantial? Would it be that much more future proof?

If they release it (I highly doubt it), 5800x3d will be much more expensive than the 5500x3d. It’s just how the demand market works.

Depends what gpu you’re pairing it with and what the actual msrp ends up being for the re-release. Wait and see but if it’s over $400 I’d probably go with the 5500

RTX 5060. Generally everything I do ends up being a cpu bottleneck so I assume I'll be fine on that end.
I think I'm steering towards that sort of plan. Once it gets to doubling the price of the 5500x3d I feel like it's probably not worth it.
Also half expecting scalpers to buy all the stock immediately and I won't be able to get one anyway 😂

What’s your current cpu?

Ryzen 5 3600, ha

5600x is more then enough

I’m waiting to make the same decision! I also have the 3600 currently.

5500x3d is kind of meh tbh, but because there are no other options pple buy it. If the 5800x3d is reasonable priced go for it, the differis substantially and the 5800x3d is still a beast.

Wait, prices will drop on the old model

On the 5500? Could do I guess. Though the options for anyone on AM4 is so ass idk. I think I can handle waiting though. I don't think the 5500x3d is likely to go out of stock?

the upgrade would be substantial but that by no means writes out 5500x3d. in this situation it really is just what you’re comfortable spending, and if you would eventually upgrade to 5800x3d anyways.

yeah wait see price 58

5500x3D isn't good.

I would wait for the 5800x3d. If the prices are too steep, you can still buy the 5500x3d.
