What is teenage social life like among elite or upper-class circles in London today?

For people who’ve spent time around wealthier or private school circles in London (not necessarily from those backgrounds):
What is social life like for teenagers (around 14–18) in those circles?
Where do they usually hang out or go out? What kind of parties are most common?
What do they usually drink, and at what age does that typically start?
I’m mainly interested in how this is nowadays or in recent years

Jesus christ some of the comments in this thread. OP is not trying to groom teenagers. They are either a teenager themselves or genuinely interested on how the upper echelons of society live their day to day life. If you wanted to groom teenagers surely you'd go for the impoverished ones? That's what my stepdad did.

I think it reads more like someone fishing for info for a story, journo or whatever. It doesn't read like something a kid would ask, see 'hello, fellow kids' meme above.

I have children within that age range, a few of which live in London. However, the severity of their shenanigans varies quite significantly. I don't really see much alcohol use, quite a lot of drug use, sex and violence though. It seems that cruel activities like bumfights, hobo hunting, and junkie baiting are still very much a common occourance. If lower class teen circles have an air of doom, gloom, and hopelessness to them, then upper class teen circles have an air of complaceny, indifference and hedonism to them.

Is it true that the rich hunt people in the countryside? It sounds like fiction. But I've met folk who swear it's true. Also heard about 'death games' that sound like an episode of squid game... 👀
Super-Craig@reddit
Yes, both of those are real, but it's not like Great Britain has a monopoly on them, these activities and similar occur worldwide.
Also, modern media paints a rather disingenuous portait of it all. It's not like the rich are abducting poor people and forcing them to compete in these activites. They're all well paid proffessionals that're competing entirely of their own volition, and despite the name, it is exceptionally rare for someone to die in these games. Many of these 'runners' as they're called, are beloved and celebrated heroes, no less venerated than other mainstream sports players. When someone does die, it's always treated as a devastating loss / tragedy.
While human countryside hunts do use live ammo, they're of a lower caliber, and the runners all wear protective gear. They also have a tendency to be ex-death game veterans. Sure, the occasional bullet connects with flesh, but actual deaths during these hunts are practically unheard of.
Then there's the death games themselves, which itself is a bit of a misdemeanor. Yes all participants can potentially die, and there have been deaths in the past, but it's very far from being a regular occurance. These are all well-paid proffesional athletes not at all disimilar from the gladiators of old. The worst thing that typically happens is dismemberment, or some kind of disfigurement, they sit out a season while their re-attached digit/limb heals.
It's certainly not hundreds of debtors kidnapped en masse, held against their fill and forced at gun point to compete in deadly games of chance, skill, and social intrigue, or last man standing deathmatch battle royales where participants fight with pot lids.
Reality is far less glamourous than fiction.

wow, that’s kind of shocking, not what I expected at all
snowmanseeker@reddit
Out of curiosity, what did you expect?
Southern-Dog-2033@reddit (OP)
I think I was expecting more heavy drinking, drug use and a lot of partying and sex, that kind of thing. I didn’t really expect people to go into that kind of violent behaviour, I always imagined they’d be more in their own bubble and not the type to act like that, especially since they often have access to really good education and opportunities, so it’s surprising to hear about that side of things
Super-Craig@reddit
At the end of the day, they're still teenagers. They enjoy arcades, cafe meet'n'greets, daytime shopping, partying and weekend trips abroad.

I went to a private school in London and many friends went to private schools in Kent. All nouvaeu riche, not aristocrats, which makes a big difference. And the youngest left school eight years ago. But here goes:
Broadly similar to others', except for three big things. One, well-off kids can all drive or get the train into London so there's no driving-aimlessly-about-town doom-loop. Two, they have much less free time and the time they do have is divided. Newly rich parents push extracurriculars like sports, languages, music, and 'hobbies' (like flying) hard, and children often travel between a country house, a London flat, or a house overseas. Now that I think about it, there was a lot less doing dangerous things in public (unless said dangerous thing was in a warehouse or on a quad bike).
In public, usually McDonalds or shopping centres or parks (same as anyone else). In private, usually private gardens, annexes, or wings of a house. One friend had an annexe for parties; another used a barn.
WKD, Absolute, Smirnoff, Jaegar, and whatever else really. It started between thirteen and fifteen. Private school girls were the worst. Feral when they were sure they wouldn't be judged. I've heard younger people today don't drink as much, so maybe that's out-of-date.
Southern-Dog-2033@reddit (OP)
that’s really interesting, I appreciate the insight. It’s quite different from what I imagined
Orange_Codex@reddit
No worries. I saw you surprised by another commenter talking about bumfights and things like that. I never saw it. Plenty of drugs, petty crime, and regrettable sex, though. Teens are teens.
Southern-Dog-2033@reddit (OP)
That makes sense, I really appreciate you clarifying that. That sounds much more like what I expected

Young people today don’t really drink.
The wealthy elite spend their weekends hunting peasants, I believe.

that’s funny, I kinda got the opposite impression when I talked to some of them

Yes. Shooting weekends. Straightforward shooting weekends.

hey just to clarify i’m a teen too, not some random adult 😭 i’m not even from the UK, i was just curious because i was on OmeTV and came across some rich kids from London and got curious about what that whole social scene is like. i felt kinda awkward asking them directly so i asked here instead
Stan_Dandyliver@reddit
Nobody believes that for a second. You wouldn't have tried to justify and I'm telling you now the specific questions you asked sound a LOT like they had an agenda. One of those was a red flag, when combined you are giving off 1945 Москва vibes aplenty!!!
Jimmy90081@reddit
Strange question, strange indeed. Will you be asking what sweeties they like next, and what vans they may like to get in to… weird man. Weird.
DameKumquat@reddit
A lot of house parties. Parents like knowing where the kids are, and it's not much imposition when you have a separate wing for them to stay in. And a housekeeper to clean up.
Stan_Dandyliver@reddit
This is a serious reply: Why on earth would you possibly want to know these things unless you were planning on grooming said teenagers? Your question is suspicious as hell. So I'll answer your question, seriously: The fact is if you have to ask then you're not gonna be able to gain access to these places because you're clearly not the right age and/ or social status and if you're an outsider then you'll be like a very brave chicken, trying to hunt a bunch of foxes in their own den... so good luck with that, especially when they're actually wolves in fox fur coats
Also, @creepyinternetweirdos, come get your mans!
