What do you guys think of the PA63?

In the market for another milsurp pistol and stumbled across this at my local pawnshop. I have a Makarov and really enjoy the 9X18 cartridge so I figured this would be right up my alley but tell me what you guys think.

The PA63 is one of my favorite pistols! I have three of them. I would pick it up at that price. Be prepared for a snappy recoil!
Hakkaa_Paalle@reddit
Snappy recoil and slide bite if your grip is too high. Light weight because the frame is a light-weight aluminum-titanium alloy.

Really??? I don’t have experience with 9x18, but I always thought it was closer to 380, than 9x19. Surprised to hear it’s snappy.
Roaddog113@reddit
The light frame makes it jumpy.
justaheatattack@reddit
that's what she said.

I have one of the 380 models. It's probably the snappiest semiauto I own, the damn thing is out for blood every time I take it to the range.
fatcat111@reddit
It's direct blowback and relatively light weight. It's snappy.

Got ya.
justaheatattack@reddit
have you got three hands?
Nachrae@reddit
Frame is aluminium, makes it so light that al recoil goes straight in your hand
Temporary_Border7233@reddit
If the rifling is good and the receiver isn't cracked. Any gun for 329 is a good buy
CyberSoldat21@reddit
Are those common issues with these or what?

Hi-point has joined the char
Temporary_Border7233@reddit
If its not pre owned....id buy one for like 150
justaheatattack@reddit
I gotta get tree fitty.
IggyWon@reddit
For 300? Pick it up. I own one in 380 and love the little thing.

"Inverted" Walther safety lever is an anti-ergonomic abomination
Especially if you have Makarov muscle memory
Present_Friend_6467@reddit (OP)
Yeah very true lol, I hate the safety on my beretta 92
Permission_Automatic@reddit
G decocker conversion is a godsend
ChampagnePlumper@reddit
It’s one of the makarov’s of all time
Dragon464@reddit
Fun fact: the Frame is an Aluminum/Titanium alloy.
walt-and-co@reddit
Mine has the heaviest double action trigger known to man, but other than that is a nice little piece.
levulur@reddit
I had it, fixed it up, and sold it. Like others have mentioned it is not a pleasant gun to shoot.
itxploded@reddit
I think I have one of these I bought from Madison gold and guns in a mystery box.
boringxadult@reddit
I have an r61. They really suck to shoot.
ODA564@reddit
I had one. Unpleasant to shoot. The now-unavailable .380 barrels supposedly fixed that.
Lonecoon@reddit
It was fine. The aluminum frame gives a lightness that makes it nice to carry, but snappy to shoot. Worse recoil than a .380 or a 9mm for some reason, despite the fact that it's between the two. My sister's East German and Russian makarovs were much more pleasant to shoot.
Responsible-Dare4364@reddit
Bought one at a pawn shop in the 90's for like 100 bux. Shot it a bit. 20 years later it started firing on its own got rid of it.
dr_xenon@reddit
I bought one back when they were under $100 and c&r to go with my other 9x18 stuff. Very snappy recoil but not as bad as the polish “Makarovs.”
Mine wasn’t super reliable with feeding.
AncientWait6745@reddit
Well, I have two of them. The first one I bought was mint. First trip to the range I put maybe 8rnds through it and after that it stopped going into battery fully. Issue: cracked frame. My other is well used and has had zero issues. I never saw anything about the PA-63 having the same metallurgical issues as the RK-59 so I'm not sure why the frame cracked on my first one. I have a thing for FEG pistols so I have quite a few.
