Which one would you carry?

Love my Glock 19 but I recently picked up the S&W sd 9 2.0 and was very happy with how it shoots especially for the price.
nag95@reddit
The sd 9 because that’s what I have. It’s a bigger gun which is why I don’t carry it but I like how it shoots and how it fits in my hand
saqspace@reddit (OP)
How about reliability, have you put a lot of rounds through it without malfunctions
nag95@reddit
I’ve killed a lot of paper silhouettes. I’ve probably got 600 rounds through it and I can’t remember a malfunction. I like the slide pull and the stock trigger it came with. I am not a gun but by any means but I can say I am very happy with my purchase.
Hovie1@reddit
I have shot a 2.0, but the old sd's had a garbage trigger on them. I'm assuming they've fixed that?
Cold-Ad432@reddit
As I understand it, that was the big change.
richiemendoza@reddit
The 2.0 slide will fit a VE frame, but a VE slide will not fit the 2.0 frame. The slide serrations are different, too.
saqspace@reddit (OP)
I like the trigger a little more than my Glock 19 trigger it’s about the same weight pull but flat faced
richiemendoza@reddit
I have an SD9VE and a 2.0. Honestly, the triggers don't bother me, and I say that as a 1911 guy with experience using the Beretta M9 in the Army. I don't mean to ruffle jimmies, but I look at it as a skill issue.
I don't have thousands of rounds through either SD9 but I shot enough to be confident it isn't a total POS.
I was considering getting into Glocks, merely for the logistics of them. The price for the SD9 in comparison is what made me go with the Smith, along with having a 1st gen Shield 9 as my CCW for many years now. The thing I hate most about the SD9 is paying $40 for spare magazines, but it's also been the same magazine since the Sigma came out, so maybe there's a cheaper source I haven't found yet.
RiveredNuts@reddit
19 everytime
RabicanShiver@reddit
Neither
Conscious_Dot_7353@reddit
If it was a M&P 2.0 I’d take the M&P, but in this case give me the Glock .
ri7ani@reddit
think of the worst trigger that ever existed, muliply it by 10 and them multiply that by FUCKING INFINITY.
In their defense they said it was done on purpose so that new shooters don't pull the trigger by mistake. in some way to give you time and assess the situation.
saqspace@reddit (OP)
The 2.0 trigger is basically a Glock trigger if not better
ri7ani@reddit
oh my bad i didn't notice it was the 2.0. i thoight it was the first sd9. my bad
saqspace@reddit (OP)
Yea the gen 2 trigger is nice imo I never shot the gen 1 but from what I’ve heard you’re right the trigger was dog ass. I like everything about the gen 2 and would want to carry it if it’s reliable. I plan I putting a lot more rounds though it to find out
Beneficial-Win-1457@reddit
Glock 19
dcarr710@reddit
Neither!
saqspace@reddit (OP)
Why? Can’t go wrong with a g19
dcarr710@reddit
Nothing to scream no about other than imo a terrible trigger. I just feel the p365 does it all but in a much easier to conceal package. Or personally I’d carry a m&p as they seam to have similar if not better reliability with a much better grip/grip angle for me personally. I don’t even like the 365 that much but it’s sooo small with great capacity it’s hard to not have in rotation. In winter I carry a C2 and for the slight size bump to me I’m so much better with the c2. But I shoot 2011s for comp so I’m used to it the most.
No-Bid-6666@reddit
Glock for sure
Panthers2425@reddit
The 19 without a doubt.
Troy_stoic@reddit
I'm willing to loose the S&W. Both guns are so similar as S&W still has to pay royalties to Glock. But if I had to have only one, Glock.
Thewhiskeypup420@reddit
Sd easy.
Minute-Log-7098@reddit
SD9
OneManGang2001@reddit
The G19 is the Honda Accord of guns for a reason. Not knocking other manufacturers.
TerrificVixen5693@reddit
Glock, every time.
usernotfound1975@reddit
19
sttbr@reddit
The one that isnt marketed to poor people.
Sarge_09@reddit
Definitely not that Smith.
saqspace@reddit (OP)
Why tho?
Sarge_09@reddit
I've seen them fail too many times with people practicing with them. I'm a retired firearms instructor for my dept and also a bra civilian range master. Just don't trust them. I also saw a lot of problems with the 45 acp m&p gen 1. A local dept couldn't even get through qualifying without a stoppage and it wasn't the magazines. I've honestly never seen a Glock fail on the line even though it's not my favorite pistol.
saqspace@reddit (OP)
The sd 2.0 came out like 2-3 years ago have you really seen that many malfunctions with them? And when they did happen did those people clean their pistols every time they shoot them like me? I’m genuinely curious because I won’t carry it if it’s not reliable
Sarge_09@reddit
I would say keep it clean and oiled. I didn't see it was a gen two so I cannot honestly say anything about them. But as far as the gen one yes I really did see a lot of malfunctioning. Also find the best magazine that you have that works and use it for carry with good quality ammo that your gun likes. Money should not be an object especially on the last point because, what is your and your loved ones lives worth. Given the choice between the Glock and the Smith I would carry the Glock until you are absolutely dead sure that the smith can be reliable.
saqspace@reddit (OP)
Yeah I can understand that I have almost 4k rounds thought my Glock and I just replaced the recoil spring because I’m a freak about gun maintenance. It eats all kinds of ammo and has never malfunctioned or even ran sluggish at all but the smith is just something I picked up because it was a good deal but when I shot it the first time it ran so well and felt amazing
Sarge_09@reddit
I understand about seeing a lower priced gun. Just make damn sure it works. I've got a cheaper Ruger that I use a as a truck gun. And it runs fine but I made sure it did first and the ammo isn't a bargain basement hollow point. It critical duty plus p. I'm actually impressed with your obsession about gun cleaning. I think we are both in the same boat with that
saqspace@reddit (OP)
I also run federal hst hollows in everything
Sarge_09@reddit
Very good round
saqspace@reddit (OP)
Yeah my buddies like to laugh and say my guns look like they are fresh off the factory lines and don’t need cleaned even my Glock has been cleaned every time I’ve shot it. I have a Taurus gx2 with 1200 rounds no malfunctions which I’ve basically retired but it’s been spotless I really think most guns with run fine as long as you clean and oil them
saqspace@reddit (OP)
First time shooting the smith
saqspace@reddit (OP)
Ignore the hip shots I was experimenting
Dung_Beetle_2LT@reddit
This is not even a question.
truckensafely@reddit
Neither
Ultrasuperbro2@reddit
Glock. Utterly replaceable after a defensive fight.
saqspace@reddit (OP)
I feel like the s&w is more replaceable given its half the price of the Glock. If the SD is reliable I will carry it
Ok_Muffin_925@reddit
Glock 19
Medical_List_3476@reddit
Glock
Driven2b@reddit
Either is fine, so long as they can take a 500rnd break-in
Independent_Bid_26@reddit
I like my m&p9, but I don't have any experience with the sd9 so im probably going with the g19.
JCMGamer@reddit
Ive heard the SD9 2.0 are reliable, but I would probably stick to Glock.
Snake-Plisskin-50@reddit
Most things single action auto. Neither of those
Low-Landscape-4609@reddit
Glock.
dustysanchezz@reddit
Still carry my Gen 2 g19
Frosty48@reddit
I would never trust my life to an SD9 if I had a choice. Long and notorious history of poor quality control and low reliability. Their use seems to be exclusively among low volume shooters who don't take classes or shoot matches; I have never seen a single high volume shooter running an SD9.
Comparatively, the most proficient shooters I know heavily favor Glocks, particularly among competitors at their price point.
9gagsuckz@reddit
I have an SD9 with thousands of rounds through it and haven’t had any issues.
Felonies_u_us@reddit
That's what we call anecdotal evidence.
moving0target@reddit
I know the Glock.
Striking_Hearing34@reddit
Glock! No matter how much people shit on it! I know when I pull the trigger on a Glock, it will go BANG when I need it to
misfitofscience76@reddit
Glock
It go BANG reliably
preparedbassfisher@reddit
Glock cuz that’s what I have
