Based on how everything looks like atm, it seems like the war will resume at any point. USA wants the Golf energy infrastructure to be destroyed. This way USA (why they got rid of maduro in Venezuela, and why Ukraine droned some of the biggest oil rafinaries in Russia recently)will be one of the biggest providers of energy/fertilizer to Europe and SE Asia
mrenglish22@reddit
"Golf energy infastructure"
I know this is a typo but really, I wouldn't be surprised if trump wants to flatten a few places (like a school) so he can build a Trump golf course there
sarcasmusex@reddit
Haha. True. I guess my autocorrect beat me
Playful-One@reddit
According to the media both USA and Iran have proclaimed the strait open and then closed and then open again multiple times per day every day. At this point, who cares what they say?

its probably completely rational to not want to negotiate with those two. they dont seem to understand the mechanics of international politics and negotiations. indeed it still appears they thought Iran explaining their current nuclear resources was actually a threat.
but those two also dont appear to be capable of negotiating in good faith. though in that respect they represent the US position perfectly, which is to not operate in good faith

There it is…
“The apparent diplomatic setback could set the stage for a renewed surge in oil prices when markets reopen after the weekend.”
bl123123bl@reddit
The US has been an unreliable narrator of both war and diplomacy. the Republican administration has been operating haphazardly; with its focus more on propaganda than reality as midterm elections threaten their own regime change
strange_lion@reddit
What does midterm does? Lets say majority Republicans won or Democrats won
Kizik@reddit
Congress. The people who are able to actually punish and prevent the rampant abuses that are going on right now. Republicans hold the majority and have been happily letting Trump do whatever he wants, but if Democrats sweep it there'll actually be some kind of adult in the room.
beefprime@reddit
The problem is that nearly every "adult in the room" (certainly every one of them that has a shot in hell of becoming president in our glorious managed democracy) in American politics at this point is a ghoulish zionist who wants to bomb the Middle East.
Significant-Ad-7182@reddit
Democrats will happily tell their voters otherwise though and come up with bs excuses when it is their administration that is doing it.
I especially love the "well if it was a Republican admin. It would have been worse."
Iyellkhan@reddit
since the 9/11, the republican administrations have been worse. measurably worse for the economy, measurably worse for US global interests and support.
if there is a critique of democratic administrations, it was trying to hold together what was left of the immediate post cold war order when, outside of some kind of economic realignment, ultimately that wasnt going to happen.
HzPips@reddit
We will only know peace is coming if the warships start leaving the gulf, anything else is just noise at this point, meant to cause confusion and disorganize any structured opposition to this war. The White House can lie about negotiations, but thanks to satellite imaging everyone can know what’s the material reality of the situation.
Comrade_Harold@reddit
*also meant to make a fuck-ton of money from market manipulation
ScaryShadowx@reddit
And Trump voters are loving every minute of their messiah ripping of the American public and the world to make billions.
kolitics@reddit
Assuming a deal were reached, why would US ships leave right away? Wouldn't they stay to ensure the agreement is followed?
DeepState_Auditor@reddit
Before the US-israel bombed Iran there was free navigation.
Iran did what they would do,if attacked.
this_dudeagain@reddit
Iran has mined the straight and attacked ships in the past.
DeepState_Auditor@reddit
Which time in the past has it done under what circumstance?
this_dudeagain@reddit
March 1984 – "Tanker War" phase of Iran-Iraq War: Iran launched 44 attacks on foreign tankers over nine months, targeting vessels associated with Iraq or its allies, particularly in the Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormuz.
July 24, 1987 – Mine attack on Bridgeton: As part of Operation Earnest Will, the re-flagged Kuwaiti tanker Bridgeton (under U.S. protection) hit an Iranian mine in the Persian Gulf, highlighting Iran’s use of naval mining to disrupt shipping.
April 18, 1988 – Operation Praying Mantis: In retaliation for the mine strike, the U.S. launched a major operation that destroyed nearly 40% of Iran’s navy, effectively curtailing its ability to threaten the strait during that conflict.
March 28, 1995 – Missile deployment: Iran installed anti-ship missiles on disputed Gulf islands, escalating regional tensions and raising concerns about its capacity to control or block the strait.
December 28, 2011 – Closure threat: Iran’s first vice president publicly threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to U.S. and European sanctions, particularly those targeting Iranian oil exports.
June 2019 – Attacks on oil tankers: Iran was accused by the U.S. of attacking the Front Altair and Kokuka Courageous with limpet mines or drone strikes, though Iran denied involvement.
April 2015 – Seizure of MV Maersk Tigris: Iranian patrol boats fired warning shots and redirected a Marshall Islands-flagged container ship into Iranian waters, asserting control over passage through the strait.
"These actions reflect Iran’s long-standing strategy of using the Strait of Hormuz as a geopolitical lever during periods of heightened tension."
DeepState_Auditor@reddit
So this proves Iran doesn't use this tactic unless attacked then and they warn every time before implementing it.
beefprime@reddit
The Iran-Iraq War is the only instance of which I'm aware, another instance of the US being attacked by a US proxy, funnily enough. They also threatened to close the straits and that ended the last US/Israeli unjustified, illegal attack in the 12 day war. I could be missing some.
BendicantMias@reddit
Depends on the deal. The US remaining to "ensure" it seems to assume it favors them, so they lay down the law there. It most likely won't.
kolitics@reddit
Favor is subjective but It assumes the US wont withdraw without Iran following the terms of any agreement.
BendicantMias@reddit
Like I said, it depends on the deal. One of Irans' demands is that the US end its presence in the region. It staying then will be a violation of those terms.
Like I said, your position implicitly assumes the US gets its way. It likely won't.
Not unless Trump has the balls to invade at least, and hand the world to China
Killeroftanks@reddit
part of the agreement would include the US breaking off the blockade.
you cant stop the blockade while keeping the ships in place for a blockade. thats like trying to go through a door, while not opening the door.
kolitics@reddit
They aren’t forming a physical barrier across the strait. You’d be able to transit as long as you aren’t fired on by either party.
OsgrobioPrubeta@reddit
And since when is US of A job, or “entitlement" if I may say so, to ensure anything besides their territorial waters?
Don't have what to do with your Navy? There's a country, a historical rival of mighty US of A, currently invading other country, stealing land and killing innocent people. By “mere coincidence", the victim country is a country that signed a security agreement with all mighty and trustful US of A, in exchange of conceding their Nuclear weapons that were a threat to Murica, a thing that the Ukrainians regret doing.
HzPips@reddit
I would expect them to leave gradually

The US definitely has no interest in leaving until Iran either suffers some sort of regime change or their nuclear facilities are otherwise completely and obviously destroyed.
Despite all the hubbub online, anyone actually waging money on these events is betting on the US staying indefinitely until that happens. Trump’s voters apparently don’t care about the slightly higher gas prices. European governments publicly chastize the US but privately bolster US cooperation. The GCC outwardly signal their support for the American intervention. And Russia and China make plenty of statements about public support but give nothing meaningful.
Feels just like Russia with the Ukraine War. Everyone expects Russia/Iran to eventually lose steam while the Western support bleeds them dry. Who knows how long that will take but the Military-Industril Complex will certainly lobby for as long as it takes.
New_Breadfruit5664@reddit
Everybody expects Ukraine to bleed dry. They always expected that. But we were graciously willing to sacrifice as many ukrainian people as necessary to make this whole ordeal as expensive for Russia as possible.
If the US wants to play this game indefinitely as you say.
Then Iran will be acting as Ukraine for China. Be as expensive to the US as possible.
BendicantMias@reddit
China needs the US to actually invade Iran for it to be comparable to Ukraine.
MelodiusRA@reddit
You are certainly not a Westerner, because no one says “sacrificing Ukrainians” except for Pakistanis and Russians. Ukrainian are fighting this war because it is waged on their own soil. No one compels them to fight except for the Russians themselves.
New_Breadfruit5664@reddit
I am absolutely a Westerner and "europes freedom is being defended by Ukraine/ukrainians" is the credo being repeated on a daily bases. That means sacrificing ukrainians in PR speech. My country has invested billions in this war while not even considering for a second to send a single soldier and the ruling party has factions that want to deport male Ukrainian refugees to bolster the army ranks in Ukraine.
Sacrificing ukrainians is the war policy of my country and my country rules the EU.
Gruejay2@reddit
How is your country sacrificing them, exactly?
MelodiusRA@reddit
Lmao you just remove any sort of autonomy from Ukraine?
No one should take you seriously if you are so gullible.

The SPRs will only last so long. I believe the current estimate is another month and a half before people realize their governments can’t print molecules.
MelodiusRA@reddit
Sounds just like individuals saying Russia would never last more than a few months
NearABE@reddit
The rate at which Russia fired shells really did plummet. They could not sustain that pace.
Russia continued fighting the war with less ammunition and with less equipment. Ukraine also burned through all their prewar ammunition and equipment. Them still fighting each other indicates nothing about how quickly their stockpiles were consumed.
2dudesinapod@reddit
You’re trolling right? Russia fighting a war and 20% of the world’s supply of oil are two different things.
RedTulkas@reddit
If that's the case I wonder how long it will take for "security incidents" to take place on US marked locations in south east Asia as their oil runs dry and the economy goes down the shitter
2dudesinapod@reddit
JD Vance isn’t attending this new round, the US is only sending Israeli spies dumber and dumber. The Iranians know it’s pointless to take the risk of going to Islamabad for more of this farce.
Not to mention the US airlift into the gulf region has only intensified since the last round of talks.
