Not ever classic rock, but oldies đ
LimeSalty4092@reddit
Well considering it came out around my kindergarten year, it really doesnât shock me
Dewey_Coxxx@reddit
I remember my mom being very offended to hear Janis Joplin on the oldies station.
killer_sheltie@reddit
I love and hate that Def Leppard is now grocery store music
Cisru711@reddit
I'm embracing it while it lasts.
CokBlockinWinger@reddit
Friend, I heard The Sisters of Mercyâs This Corrosion playing at the grocery store a few months back, sandwiched between Tim McGrawâs My Little Girl and Paula Coleâs I Donât Want to Wait.
Blasphemy I tell ya!
JJDiet76@reddit
I heard The White Stripes on the classic rock channel the other day.
Puzzled-Bonus-3456@reddit
I turn it off because I hate that damned song.
yamahowzer@reddit
When Alice in chains is on the classic rock station...
Electronic-Spinach43@reddit
Yeah, thatâs the way you do it.
remoteworker9@reddit
Itâs 40 years old!
BlueSnaggleTooth359@reddit
Glenn Miller Band is 40 years old.
AndrewInMN@reddit
Imagine someone in the 90s trying to say a song from the 50s wasnât oldies. And itâs not like this song wonât still be played on classic stations. Pretty sure I heard it on classic rewind not long ago.
BlueSnaggleTooth359@reddit
although it doesn't seem as relatively old since there was a huge shift to a more modern pop culture in the 80s
and pre-mid-50s, like 40s big bands and all, they were already like oldies by the mid to late 50s
Stryker406@reddit
I want my MTV

Nice tie in!
BlueSnaggleTooth359@reddit
You know they say that video killed the radio star.
bcentsale@reddit
It's over 40 years old at this point. It's basically the equivalent of said station playing big band era music when the song was newly rotating on the top 40. đ¤ˇ

True, damn perspective
bcentsale@reddit
Sorry lol. For me it's hearing "American Idiot" on the classic rock station. Logically, I know the album is coming up on 26 years old. Emotionally, though, how the hell is a song that came out my sophomore year of college classic rock?!? I have MP3 files older than that. Shit, I have ftp and irc pr0n files older than that.
justin81co@reddit (OP)
Irc, that brings me back, it was the original Napster and Yahoo messenger all in one
bcentsale@reddit
I still periodically browse EfNet rooms.
PatchworkGirl82@reddit
It's older than what was on the oldies station I listened to in the 80s and 90s, almost twice as old as some songs.
I think it's that "oldies" or "golden oldies" aren't popular marketing terms anymore.
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
nanneryeeter@reddit
Beverly hillbillies.......
shadowlarx@reddit
I got the same feeling the first time I heard Nirvana on the classic rock station.
Winwookiee@reddit
I mean... in the 90s, the "golden oldies" our parents used to listen to was 25-30 years old. That would be like music from 96-01 today.
absentlyric@reddit
Dude, Emo/Metalcore is over 20 years old now, be prepared to hear My Chemical Romance on classic rock stations soon.
OccamsYoyo@reddit
Maybe in 20 more years Iâll stop confusing them with My Bloody Valentine â a far better band from much earlier.
gooch_norris_@reddit
The classic rock station near me has been playing the white stripes for five-ish years now
jessek@reddit
To me âOldiesâ is a format that means pop/rock/soul from the 50s thru 60s. If radio stations want to play 80s or 90s music, they need to come up with a new name.
usernames_suck_ok@reddit
Please. Matchbox Twenty is on the oldies station. You shouldn't be shocked.
cirkoolio@reddit
Bro. No Doubt and Matchbox 20 are on the oldies station
lkmyntz@reddit
Most likely not including the second verse

How is this now happening to yâall. I was in my late 20âs the first time I heard 90âs Rock Hits played during the âClassics Hourâ on a rock station. I was soo bummed.
nicksk@reddit
I went to the gym one day and they were promoting an "oldies" playlist. All the songs in the playlist came out after I graduated college. To the twenty-something person creating the playlist songs that came the year they were born are oldies.
ericthepilot2000@reddit
The other day I heard Down with the Sickness in Shoprite. I can handle it playing on classic rock stations, because they've always kind of been fusion of old and new. But I was not prepared for the music I listen to to become supermarket music.
Bookofdrewsus@reddit
It was a tragedy in 2009 when I heard Bushâs âComedownâ on the classic rock station. Everything else since then I just let wash over me.
justin81co@reddit (OP)
That was 15 years after it came out, that's messed up
aaronwintergreen@reddit
Yeah I mean this felt old in the mid 90s dude
RoyDonkeyKong@reddit
I listened to Brothers in Arms front to back on Friday. Great album. Certified Oldies, friend.
ryhoyarbie@reddit
Songs we listened to as teenagers like Smells Like Teen Spirit or Bittersweet Symphony are now considered âoldiesâ.
Until next timeâŚâŚâŚ..

When the classic rock station here started playing Nirvana i died a little bit inside
