Ah you have one too! A couple years ago we had a female and her chicks, that was a wild few weeks 😅
amboandy@reddit
We have pheasants, some Canadian geese and occasionally a heron who tries to catch fish in our fishless pond. An abundance of wildlife, with a scarcity of braincells.

The Ever-Present Pheasant
DondeT@reddit
I’ve got a small pheasant ornament that clips onto my Christmas tree. We call him the present pheasant as he guards the gifts below.
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
This made me snort hahaha. Wonderful
DocMillion@reddit
A very pleasant ever-present pheasant
Dramatic-Arachnid_@reddit
Sorry it's a rosate spoonbill
themidge88@reddit
Now I want to play RDR2.
Lilylongshanks@reddit
That was the first thing I saw too.
snarkmaiden5@reddit
Hmm to me it looks like the DJ&Co makers mark from the London assay office. But it is from the 70s, the brutalist design was popular back then. Can you get any clearer pics of the last few marks? The bright sun just washes out all the detail
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
I will try now, they’re so tiny!
snarkmaiden5@reddit
They are a pain to try and photo! Just not quite in focus for all the details. It does look to be possibly 9ct white gold though? Rather than 925 it looks like 375.
sir_squidz@reddit
yeah that's a 9ct gold hallmark
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
So I’ve had another look today. The middle stamp is 9 375. So I’m assuming that’ll be 9ct gold. As for the last stamp, still no idea. Here’s another picture of it. I’m going to take it to the jeweller in the week. It’s become an itch I need to scratch
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
I think you’re right with the 375 too, it’s clearer in a video I took. It’s just the last two dots. I shall report back tomorrow with the daytime light rather than the golden sun. Appreciate the help!
dirtywhitehats@reddit
Definitely looks like a 375 not a 925 to me

amboandy@reddit
That's the one ring, put it in the fire and read the full inscription.
Or
DJ&Co silversmiths of Sheffield England hallmark.
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
This was going to be my last choice after deciding what to do with my potatoes
saltyurinalbiscuit@reddit
I like potato's too.....let's be friends
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
But do you like them boiled, mashed or in a stew?
saltyurinalbiscuit@reddit
Stew, mashed, boliled in that ranking order assuming theres no seasoning where things can change
Clearlydarkly@reddit
Raw and wiggling.
hairyringus@reddit
And fried
BrockJonesPI@reddit
Schrodingers potato - served in a closed box and they're simultaneously raw & wriggling and fried

My step dad may have sold that.
I know worked at a jewellers in Sheffield at roughly that time
CommissionSorry410@reddit
Where can I find a list of hallmarks etc for British silversmiths? I have a friend whose ring is a bit of a mystery, there are marks, and the ring was purchased in the UK.

It’s some form of elvish. I can’t read it.

No pun intended, but this reminds me of LOTR Argonath statues. You know, by the river. With the hands.

My mate had a very similar one and reckoned it cost £4k… he was a notorious liar
Dependent_Worry7499@reddit
That's very expensive for a pheasant
LegoNinja11@reddit
Probably bought it in North Africa after riding a pedalo there from Spain and nearly getting attacked by sharks.

This is funnier than it should be.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
I have a little more clarity, thanks!
thistle160878@reddit
It looks like a Sheila Fleet ring - they have a similar style at the moment called flagstone but this looks like an earlier version which I only remember as I bought it for a friend.
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
Best to take to a jeweller - it is good quality as halmarked.
The first bit is the maker, the lion means it is assayed as 925 silver.
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
Yeah I think a jewellers will be my next step. It’s not essential but I’m just curious
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
You might want to add it as a named item on insurance and jeweller value makes that easier. Lovely bark ring.
jetelklee@reddit
Came for the inevitable LotR reference, wasn't disappointed
SoapboxBob@reddit
Perhaps use blue tac or similar to take a print of the symbols and photograph that. Might make it easier to read.
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
Oh that’s a good shout. I’ll try now, thanks!
axeman020@reddit
It is in the speech of Mordor... Which I wil not utter here.
Tirno93@reddit

Have you got a good pair for hiking boots? You're about to go on a very long hike. You'll probably need some mithril armour too, if Mountain Warehouse has any in stock.
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
I’ll pop in on my way through. They usually have a sale. Failing that I’ll ask my pal Frodo
silentphil31@reddit
It's some form of elvish. I can't read it
greenybrowny@reddit
snarkmaiden5@reddit
Nah dont go by ai info they aren't always right. In this case its not
greenybrowny@reddit
There’s someone else that’s also posted about Sheffield silversmiths so are you sure it’s not?
snarkmaiden5@reddit
Yep, you have to go by the font and style of the marks. This was under the list for the London assay, pretty close.
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
Okay, this is helpful thank you
greenybrowny@reddit
It looks like the 5th one down, so it got the right year atleast lol, just wrong area 🙏🏻
greenybrowny@reddit
Oh and completely agree they can be way off at times!
eat-real-chips@reddit
Just want to say how pretty it is 😍
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
It’s so lovely! It used to live in my mums jewellery box and I would always say I would fight my siblings for it lol
Best_Payment_4908@reddit
First image, is DJ&Co which will be the maker or jewellers maker, the middle looks like 375 indicating its 9ct gold, last one i cant make out sorry
t-dodger@reddit (OP)
Thank you, that’s what I was leaning towards. I can’t for the life of me figure out the last one either. I keep trying to get a good picture
Adventurous-Elk-5193@reddit
hope you had your gun on you.....
Original_Bad_3416@reddit
Very rare
TargetOk6288@reddit
It’s some form of elvish… i cant read it

chodsonwalker@reddit
It’s some form of Elvish, I can’t read it.
PipBin@reddit
Looks rather like my mums wedding ring from the early 70s.
koopa35@reddit
Apparently DJ&G indicates a Daniel George Collins piece dated 1904 to 1971.
