Okay I see a few people asking if a barrel chop on these is possible and easy, and as someone who’s built tons of MP5s and other roller delayed guns, I’ll pick this apart:

No. It ain’t straightforward.

On an AR, your barrel is screwed onto the upper receiver with a barrel but. Simple enough, and so taking the barrel out is easy and then modifications can be made to the barrel.

On these style of guns, the barrel is PRESSED into the trunnion. Friction fit so tight that it requires a 12ton press to press it in. You then drill a hole and pin it into place (like a roll pin almost, except this pin is ALSO friction fit).

What this means is that if you wanna turn the barrel, you gotta take it out. Which as said before, is not something you can really do at home unless you got a press and the jigs to do it. That’s why these roller delayed shops charge so much.

For this price point, just get a clone. By the time you buy this and pay a smith to do the work on it, you’re looking at something comparable to an SP5 pistol. Have multiple post samples that are clone conversions, and they run like a top.

We don’t pay Holosun. We also never signed a contract with them.

Per our last post, that got mass support, we made an identical post that another dealer made the exact same text and website structure, yet we were shut down and they were not. In addition, there’s been zero contact from them period until Holosun Josh reached out. We are still waiting on this to be resolved and made right when they return from NRAAM.

Until then, we will continue to highlight the issue. Also, get ratioed.

Assuming you're a table top seller.. Any drop shipping race to the bottom dealer with access to wholesale prices can sell at $5 over cost. Holosun and many others have Minimum Advertised Price policies so their stuff isn't lumped in with no-name chinese junk.

You chose to ignore the MAP policy and you got caught. They also monitor these forums and see your crap, you'll likely never get access to Holosun wholesale prices again wothout going gray market and being unable to offer a warranty.

Stop spamming about it, keep your trap shut, and try again in a few months and they may let you back in. If so, don't play cute again.

BTW, it doesn't matter if 50 other dealers made a post. You got caught.

Great question! Those are entirely different barrels because they have off gassing ports to knock full velocity ammo to subsonic.

So to convert this into an SD, you’d knock out the 16” barrel, install the new barrel and other SD specific components (different cocking tube geometry, hand guard, etc), refinish, then you’re golden.

So in the case you wanna turn this into an SD, this would be a viable choice. Didn’t even think of that tbh. Nice call out!

Zenith, but that’s purely because post sample conversions are easier. All of them are comparable since they all draw from the same engineering specs and tooling that they ripped from HK.

It's 100% this. I happened to have heard it from the CEO of HK USA's mouth personally. But also. Think about it. Have you ever seen a SP5 Form 4 SBR. You haven't. They can't be imported that way. So they just pistol everything and let you Form 1 it.

People who want an SP5 rifle without having to do a form one.

It's illegal to import rifles and shotguns with "assault features" and it's also illegal to add certain "assault features" to imported rifles and shotguns after you buy them. However, none of that applies to pistols. As long as an imported gun enters the US as a pistol and gets sold as a pistol The person who buys it can do whatever they want with it, including convert it to a rifle by adding a stock.

They can also just ditch the shitty "pistol" designation altogether. HK Germany can send these in a "sporterized" configuration to the US, and then HK USA can complete the rifle conversion with US-made parts. That's basically what IWI US does with their rifles to skirt around import restrictions and 922r compliance.

It's not illegal to convert a rifle to it's full assaulty goodness, it just requires 922r compliance, regardless of if it was imported as a rifle or pistol. It's legally required if you put a stock on this, but HK has their own ATF compliance agent making sure they do that and you do not.

I looked into it. Only a few shops in the US can do a proper chop and rethread since the barrel is pressed into the receiver. Prices are $300-500 with a month or so wait time.
