I recently was blessed by the sub and picked up a new .300 BO rifle and dont know a ton about them. I was under the impression that regular 5.56 magazines worked with .300 BO?
LurkerTheDude@reddit
You are correct, these ones just say 300 BLK on them
1rubyglass@reddit
Wait... seriously? Then why pay double?

"PMAG 30 AR 300 B GEN M3 is uniquely designed for 300 BLK to deliver more consistent feeding across the wide range of projectile weights and profiles."
1rubyglass@reddit
I wonder why they didn't specify exactly what the difference is. Vague marketing makes me wary.
BABOON2828@reddit
These have been out for ages, they have optimized internal geometry for the cartridge's wider, varied projectile shapes, particularly heavy subsonics. They are reported to reduce friction and side pressure that can cause failures to feed in standard 5.56 NATO magazines. Plenty of people reporting that they helped with otherwise finicky ammo but to each their own.

Ill have to do some more research. Thanks!

If you are running shorter bullets (100-200gr) 5.56 mags should be okay. If you want to venture into fatter subsonics (220+gr) you will likely need .300 blk mags.
1rubyglass@reddit
Awesome, thanks for the info. Purchased a bunch of 220 subs with the rifle, so I may indeed need some!
cvl1@reddit
Cause they're not the same, they have different followers and internal geometry. 300 blk will feed for the most part in 556 mags. But if youre having feeding issues with certain ammo it's a chance it's the mag
1rubyglass@reddit
Shouldn't the bullet not be touching the follower at all?
cvl1@reddit
I mean the last one will and that effects how the rest of them sit
1rubyglass@reddit
It touches the casing, not the bullet
LurkerTheDude@reddit
A LOT more people buy 556 mags than 300blk
And maybe because putting a 300blk in a 556 rifle is a very expensive mistake
1rubyglass@reddit
Except its the same thing?
This makes sense, but seems like something like a label maker or paint pen would be both more effective and cheaper
SadFinger3453@reddit
There is a slight difference that is supposed to help with the slightly different shaped of the cartridges. Som people say lancers work better than pmags as well. I only own a couple 300blk pmags so I couldn't tell you if there's realy a difference
FrankGarretOK@reddit
I personally run only steel for 556 and I run PMAgs only for 300 blackout. I also prefer 20 round pmags but that’s another story

Just curious, has anyone gotten Magpul’s Special Group Pricing to work recently? Page says there should be a Verify button during checkout under the order summary, but it never seems to show up for me.
