Yeah, fr. 80. Wtf, Tim? Stop it. You have so many more characters to play.
CatchAlarming6860@reddit
He’s come so far since the stroke, I see no reason he couldn’t start playing roles again.
DandyLionsInSiberia@reddit
More generally, you do rather feel we’ve mislaid a whole breed of actor somewhere down the back of the national sofa, those gloriously overcooked, theatre-forged creatures who did the hard yards before swanning onto our screens. The sort who’d spent years declaiming to the gods and three pensioners in Row G before anyone pointed a camera at them.
They had a kind of mischief about them, a sense that a role wasn’t something to be handled politely with tongs, but gleefully chewed, spat out, and reassembled with extra bits left in. A raised eyebrow here, a mad flourish there, all the things that make a performance feel like it might, at any moment, go deliciously off the rails. You don’t get that same reckless sparkle from the more carefully assembled screen-only types.
And Tim Curry?
Absolutely one of the high priests of that particular church, right up there with the likes of Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, and Alan Rickman.. even Buffy's Anthony Head, all of them with that shared glint of “shall I behave, or shall I have fun instead?” and, more often than not, choosing chaos.
lellywest@reddit
Kevin Kline fits on this list! And I’d say Mandy Patinkin, as well.

I think the sadder reality is we just leave them on the sofa and ignore them. It's too easy to reach people with the everyday. There isn't time to compete.
Neukleopatra@reddit
The erasure of him in Hunt for Red October 😭
Melancholy_Rainbows@reddit
Needs more Ark Rendon Howe.
Great game made infinitely better with Curry’s scenery chewing.
WonderMew@reddit
As soon as I heard the Arl speak, I knew he was going to kill us all, because you don't cast Tim Curry as some forgettable nobody. 😁
frougle_mcdugal@reddit
BrotherCool@reddit
Not even Tim Curry, a Bruce Campbell cameo, and a scenery-chewing Ernie Hudson were able to save Congo from being a pile of shit. Bad, gorilla. Go away.

Fuck off, 10 year old me loved that movie.

To this day, I still have a hard time telling it's him underneath all that make up. He was so good. I had no clue for a long time.
wingchild@reddit
A performance so good, nobody remembers Tom Cruise is in this too
SnooSongs450@reddit
And he was also good in this movie.
SpaceWoman80@reddit
One of my top 5 movies!
SnooSongs450@reddit
This is one of those 80s classics from my childhood that makes me wonder what the hell adults were thinking when we were part of the target audience. Legend, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Return to Oz, Secret of NIMH...lol. I have young kids and they would lose their shit if I had them watch these. They think Harry Potter is too scary sometimes.
I_like_flowers_@reddit
i get hung up on the glitter budget. also that hallway with pillars and the first few are covered and near the end its just hand prints here and there as the glitter people were clearly done.

"So where's it you going?" "You have a hanging particle." "Oh, zipping fly"

I grew up on Clue and she was my idol! Funny, smart, beautiful, and what a figure. What more could a girl ask for?
SlackPriestess@reddit
I had such a huge crush on Madeline Kahn as a kid. I thought she was so beautiful and elegant while being wildly hilarious
TheWildTofuHunter@reddit
Yes!! And truth be told, I still have such a crush on her. I’d love to be as smart and witty as her! 🥰
SlackPriestess@reddit
Total agreement here!
TorchThisAccount@reddit
Dude, this was one of my favorite movies as a kid, odd that I don't own a copy of it. You know what was a real bummer, sometime when it would air on TV, they wouldn't play the alternate ending. They would pick one ending and that was it. I would be so pissed they cut the alternates.

Sorry to hijack the top comment, but I think you'll forgive me. There's a made for TV movie from 1984 that it seems few have been able to see. IMO, one of his greatest performances and you can watch the thing on YouTube. https://youtu.be/jRvmTjrNn7Q?si=zQNo6L9xZRkiIIpM
retsamegas@reddit
I just rewatched a couple weeks ago, felt like it got even better than I remembered
numberthirteenbb@reddit
I’m mad that Wadsworth isn’t pictured tbh
KerissaKenro@reddit
Me too, he is my second favorite Tim Curry role. (Behind Long John Silver, can’t top that one) The absolutely not a problem, but difficulty with Tim Curry is that he has done everything. And done it brilliantly. Movies, tv, video games, hero, villain, sidekick, that one really memorable minor character, male, female, somewhere in between, animated, live action, voice acting, heavy make-up, full prosthetics, and so on… It is impossible to choose nine or twelve or sixteen roles to highlight without leaving out something iconic
numberthirteenbb@reddit
I’ve been watching Clue since I was six, Wadsworth IS Tim and Tim is Wadsworth you can’t change my mind. When he’s soaking wet hopping down the stairs after “what’s this, another door?” and is ADORABLE and MURDEROUS and I can’t help but think Tim Curry just showed up as himself
segsmudge@reddit
SomeGuyOverYonder@reddit
Ehh, no, even Clue has moments.

He’s doing a live screening and meet & greet at a venue called Grove of Anaheim next month. It’s the only live screening he’s doing in the entire country, and he’ll be on stage with Lesley Ann Warren.

They did one take and decided it was perfect.
GargantuanCake@reddit
I'm reasonably certain they told him to pull out all the stops and just Tim Curry all over that character as much as he possibly could. You can tell he's having a great time doing that as absurd as all the deliveries are.
Mr_Pogi_In_Space@reddit
Was pretty disappointed this wasn't included in the collage
RockTheGrock@reddit
Tried finding a clip from his Lexx episode but came up empty. This equally as obscure so it had to do.
Serrajuana@reddit
That show was such a fever dream. I had the biggest crush on Kai! And a girl crush on Xev of course
fluzine@reddit
Kai last of the Brunnen-G! Loved him!
RockTheGrock@reddit
I first caught on late night sci fi channel programming and it was mesmerizing. A wild mix of horrifying and tantalizing. Xev was great but Zev in the beginning was stunning. I am completely straight but if I wasnt Kai would have done the trick for me too.
Lucky_Louch@reddit
such an absolute legend, you are missing the pic from that 80's movie I think it was called "the worst witch" or something, he was one of the witch teachers or principles, it was my first time seeing him in a movie.

Oh I loved that movie as a kid! I always forget Tim Curry was the principal/headmaster or whatever in that movie.
