What's the Best Gaming Keyboard To Buy Right Now?
Posted by Lonely-Hold8871@reddit | buildapc | View on Reddit | 78 comments
Now I'm currently searching for the best gaming keyboard that is responsive, durable, and handles everyday gaming sessions like competitive FPS, MMO, and fast-paced battle royale games with precision and comfort. I want something with satisfying key switches, customizable RGB lighting, and that performs consistently without any input lag or missed keystrokes during intense gameplay.
I've come across several options during my research, but I'd love to hear about your personal experiences and recommendations. Some options I've been considering include:
- Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro
- Corsair K100 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
- SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL
- Logitech G915 TKL Wireless Gaming Keyboard
- HyperX Alloy Origins Core
- ASUS ROG Strix Scope RX
- Ducky One 3 Mechanical Keyboard
If you have any personal favorites or additional insights on these best gaming keyboards or others that might be better for switch feel, build quality, and overall competitive gaming performance, please share!
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

I'll just throw hall effect switches into the mix. Wooting is known for them, but Keychron, Razer and Nuphy (amongst many others) all have options for HE boards. These switches are meta for gaming atm
PokerLawyer75@reddit
Except I'll never buy a Keychron again after their crappy software bricked the hardware.
StoneyC03@reddit
what happened with that?
PokerLawyer75@reddit
Went to configure a few keys that were customizable in VIA. Got told it had to download a firmware update. Download the update, install it...and brick. Keyboard quit working.
Micro Center took it back thankfully.
vGrillby@reddit
Nuphy keyboards look SO good too, that Field75 HE looks so damn nice.
nova46@reddit
I have like five keyboards but I can't seem to stop using my Halo65 HE
ImYourDade@reddit
Honestly I gotta disagree on that one, the handlebar and stuff on the side looks weird and I feel like the buttons on the bottom right where I'd rest my thumb off space bar would get really annoying
DCYouKnighted@reddit
Wooting 80He but if you need media keys Corsair k70 pro or vanguard. I chose k70 pro for media keys and full size for work.

As others have said already you need to look at Hall effect sensor keyboards. They allow for instantaneous key engagement and more importantly, disengagement with adjustable actuation points. That means the instant when you lift off the key is disengaged instead of a single hard switchpoint. Also configuration settings for simultaneous opposing cardinal direction, which can affect movement in FPS and games that use keyboard movement.
I use a Wooting 60HE for gaming and a Keychron C2 Pro for programming/typing/work/etc.
joe420mama99@reddit
Wooting. I’ve had my 60% for 2 years now and it’s 100% worth what I paid for it
skrukketiss69@reddit
There are too many great options out there to crown one as the "best", and keyboards can be customized to your heart's content.
Personally though I've been using the Wooting 80HE for the last few months and I absolutely love it.
space_ritual@reddit
I have a Royal Kludge and it’s by far the best one I’ve personally owned.
DeViLz-x-DeMoN@reddit
I have the keychron k2 HE and I love it. Hall effect linear switches (think red) and the software is used on your browser. My first keychron was the v1 max. Very good bang for your buck mechanical keyboard. Both of these are 75% which for me is the sweet spot for size!
Rubadubrix@reddit
make your own!
randyest@reddit
I love my Wooting 80HE
DifferentEvent2998@reddit
Logitech till I die. I’ve been using their keyboards, mice, and headsets for a good 15-20 years.
Antique_Parsley3188@reddit
I’ve been looking at wooting lately worth a google search at least imo
NaughtyCheffie@reddit
G510 baby, been the best for YEARS.
One_Impress_5146@reddit
Honestly all of these big gamer brands are pretty behind the curve in terms of features vs value.
My favourite gaming keyboard so far has been the Mchose ace68 turbo which has been far better quality and value for money than any of the above in my experience.
TheOriginalKrampus@reddit
Yeah. After buying a Chinese mouse last year, I kind of fell in love with all these Chinese brands for perhipherals. Mchose is one of them, and they make great products.
I got a Cidoo QK75 because I needed something portable, compact, but still with the F keys, Delete, Home, End, PgUp, and PgDn. It’s tri mode with a decent battery, via compatible, all plastic but good build quality, substantial but not too heavy, and decent latency.
Honestly, there’s tons of great keyboards with most of these features for under $100. It’s hard to go wrong. I think a lot of a keyboard comes down to the switches. Everyone will have a slightly different preference. But the best part of a mech keyboard is that if you don’t like the stock switches, you can just buy new ones.
Mine came with some really solid linear switches. They sound and feel great, but were driving my partner up the wall. So I got some outemu silent jade yellows and now it’s quieter than my laptop’s keyboard.
NEO71011@reddit
Mchose is so good
I have K87S no complaints
DopestSoldier@reddit
Wooting 80HE
Pretty_Bar_1206@reddit
The lack of Keychron in that list is appalling
JoeChio@reddit
Keychron is great but I've had some minor issues on two boards of double typing. I think it's fixed with the latest firmware but for a while there it was a pain in the ass.
17Fiddy@reddit
When you buy a keychron keyboard you need to just take all the default switches out and throw them in the trash.
Or if you don't want to do that you can just take the switch that double inputs and swap it with a less used key. They all have one or two keys that double input because of the low quality switches.
JoeChio@reddit
Any recommendations for switches that have a good tactile bump and low sound?
windowpuncher@reddit
glorious/holy pandas
ChuckMauriceFacts@reddit
There might be better options right now, but I got some Gazzew Boba U4s a few years ago, still going strong and very silent. The bump is harder than MX Brown though, similar to MX Clears.
17Fiddy@reddit
I have baby kangaroos in my keychron but they are probably considered medium sound. I will always recommend those.
JoeChio@reddit
Good looks. Found 100 of them for $55. Going to test them out.
KennKennyKenKen@reddit
The only correct answer is wooting..
FoRiZon3@reddit
Best will be Wooting 80HE.
plasmaz@reddit
Looking at this beauty on my desk after two years and what a beast it is.
Getdownlikesyndrome@reddit
Roccat.
PokerLawyer75@reddit
I had to replace 2 keyboards lately...and I went with...none of the above.
Originally, I bought 2 of the Corsair Vengence 96 (I didn't spring for the HE keyboard). Had to take one back, because the programable keys would not work.
FOr that machine, I went with the Glorious GMMK2. Love the default switches, but you can replace them with any of Glorious's switches. If you want to go full bespoke, buy the GMMK3 for $80 from Best BUy, and pick your switches and keycaps. I bought the Polychroma keycaps and they go great with a monocolor backlighting.

HarmonizedSnail@reddit
If anyone has input on a replacement for a G710+ I'm all ears. I need Ghub for my racing wheel and don't want to have that and LGS installed at the same time.
Reason7322@reddit
Wooting 80HE
iszoloscope@reddit
None of those brands for except maybe Ducky, don't fall for that 'gaming' branding nonsense. Buy a (mechanical) keyboard from an actual keyboard brand.
Stickytin@reddit
There is no best, only preferences.
ricraposo@reddit
I got a Keychron K2 HE special edition recently and it performs really well. Hall effect switches and solid web app for configuration/personalization.
memeaste@reddit
Get yourself a solid quality mechanical keyboard without the “gaming” branding on it
Mr_NewYear@reddit
The best? Wooting.
My 60he has been amazing. Other keyboards and brands have just been trying to match them. There are decent alternatives but id rather stick to wooting.
necomus@reddit
I can’t speak about competitive performance because I mostly play World of Warcraft and Marvel Rivals quick match but my Aula S75 Pro has been incredible.
The star vector switches they come with have mid actuation force but the return resistance feels so good, it’s like they push your fingers back up. However, I like heavy switches which may not be the best for competitive gaming but they work well for me.
TypographySnob@reddit
Just get a cheap membrane board. Mechanical don't make sense for gaming and hall effect switches are unnecessary unless you want analog control.
Stormeve@reddit
I like Akko. Bought a Hatsune Miku one for myself recently and liked it a lot. Ended up getting two other keyboards for my siblings and they love it too.
lgodsey@reddit
I wish I could find a big-ass keyboard with big keys and more space between the keycaps. Like how they make huge remote controls and calculators for old people. I guess I have big hands and they have trouble hitting just one key. Also, I go through keycaps like crazy -- the print wears out like immediately. My WASD are gone almost immediately.
Wow, that was a real-live rant. I feel better, but I still need a bigger keyboard.
xorz77@reddit
wooting chinese clone lol
_Dimension@reddit
I hate my Corsair K100 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. I've had more problems with its software program than any other program on my computer. The keyboard itself is fine.
Big__Disc__Energy__@reddit
Everything you picked is bad. Keychron/ wooting FTW
Symphonic7@reddit
I quite like my wooting 60 HE+. Fast switches, and you can make it so sensitive that even a slight movement of the key activates it. They also have an 80% and full sized keyboard.
Flourid@reddit
Also gonna stan Wooting. It's on the expensive side, but the customization is on another level. You can also completely configure it via the browser and don't need to install drivers, never seen a company do this before, they deserve all the respect for this alone imo.
FromDeepestFathom@reddit
Metal wooting (80HE) is the nicest I’ve ever tried, expensive but yeah. I think I’m like 17 keyboards deep at this point. Haven’t seen anything else worth trying.
Livid-Call225@reddit
Keychron K2 HE
ak5432@reddit
None of these. Gaming brands are kinda garbage. Best keyboard I have that technically is “for” gaming is my Keychron K2 HE. Hall effect switches are the only design choice on mechanical keyboards that make an any difference at all in games. I only know of Keychron and Wooting that make them, but there are probably more now.
But the “best” keyboard I have is not a gaming keyboard at all. If you want high quality, durable, precise etc. don’t buy a gaming-related brand.
f1rstx@reddit
50$ Ajazz from Amazon gonna be same or better than any so called "gAmIng" overpriced crappy keyboards
White_Wolf_11@reddit
Do some research on the software side of things, because it’s something that almost nobody talks about but is a nightmare to deal with if it’s bad. I got a razor product and I will never again buy anything from them. Worst software I’ve ever used for peripherals and it uses way more resources than it should.
SCOOkumar@reddit
Keychron and it’s not even close
EruzaMoth@reddit
What feels most comfortable to you.
No joke
Federal-Property1461@reddit
Depends depends depends
Pretty much theres just 2 categories. Hall effect and everything else. Above like 15 bucks all you are paying for is the experience of using the board, you dont really gain much in terms of actual performance
For Hall effect, Wooting is pretty good, but there are others now. Theres also custom boards that use HE like the neo60 sonic plus
For the regular boards, almost all "mainstream" boards are trash. Keychron is meh, they're on the better side of OEM boards but you can definitely do better, their designs are old and havent really kept up. Corsair, Logitech are trash tier, Ducky is below keychron. Their keyboards have rattly stabilisers, very stiff typing experience and dont sound very good. The only decent OEM boards are the Razer blackwidow v4 75% non pro/pro (only the 75%, the rest of the v4s are trash) and the ROG Azoth/Azoth extreme. There are noards you can buy prebuilt that are good though, Rainy75, evo80, crush80, Qk80 Mk2 etc. Thats another rabbit hole you can go down
cristakhawker_182@reddit
Wow, ive never heard of these wooting keyboards but holy shit they look amazing!!
9_of_wands@reddit
I just built mine with parts from Keychron. Not sure how their options are recently, but mine is full metal case, 100% size, aluminum plate, controllable rgb, cherry brown switches, wired, ROG rubber keycaps. Weighs 12 pounds, I love it.
xthelord2@reddit
i see people recommend hall effect but hall effect is not the best ever since TMR switches came to the market
kdubz1122@reddit
Do you live by a microcenter? They have a tone of keyboards and switches to test out.
SlyFisch@reddit
I just use keyboards with silver switches and fast response time
Rosarose4@reddit
I have the Logitec one mainly because I prefer keys being lower. Came from an older membrane keyboard ( razer deathstalker ) that I repurchased twice actually because the lower keys just felt so nice.
ConfusedFingers@reddit
Wootinf
hevea_brasiliensis@reddit
Wtf, has anyone not shown you a Wooting keyboard? That is the best, hands down.
-Aces_High-@reddit
Wooting needs to be the top of your list
stunted@reddit
I like Wooting keyboards
Micronationsunite@reddit
SteelSeries
WhiteCastleWarrior@reddit
Nubi NK68 HE - It's unbeatable for the price, and IMO is much better than most of what you mentioned. Don't pay for marketing, pay for what you got.
GloomyPassion2754@reddit
You mentioned that you want 0 input lag, look for a keyboard with hall-effect switches. For example a Wooting 80HE.
TheObnoxiousCamoToe@reddit
If you can deal with no number pad or direction keys and a smooth keystroke, I love my Razer Hunstman Mini Analog
